Itching to vote

Thousands of Connecticut independents have registered as Democrats in recent weeks, eager to vote in Tuesday’s primary between Sen. Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont. In the past three months, 6,715 voters have changed their registration from independent to Democrat. About 5,000 switched in July, nearly 10 times the number in May.

Both the Lieberman and Lamont camps say the increased registration will help them, but analysts think it’s more likely to help Lamont.
