Not to defend Phelps – I loathe the man and everything he represents – but in the interest of accuracy I’d like to point out that while Phelps may represent the most dangerous elements of the Talibangical movement in the US, his roots are with the Democratic Party. Every time he’s run for office, he’s run as a Democrat. Saying that “These are good Republican Family Values at work” isn’t entirely accurate…

Agree with you. Stinkly, thought control it is …and I am surprised and somewhat dissapointed that you changed your word-smithing….your use of the “c” word was spot on and context appropriate.. but it appears FDL has developed its own brand of— shall we say— “selective enforcement word police moderators.” Just the other day I was on the receiving end of caustic scorn, comment manipulation and was slurred as sexist….by the moderator no less….right here at FDL. My word crime was a comment refering to Condi as a b**ch. Interestingly, in the same sentence I also referenced LieberLiar-man as a prick…though no howls arose over that word choice.

BTW…Great post….I had a face2face with Phelps a few weeks ago at a military funeral here in NC and I can assure you and all readers here that he is without doubt an utterly despicable piece of shit.
