Did anyone ever try to Google where people end up after they end their political careers?

(Apropos Clinton suddenly turning up and supporting L. What did he owe him? was my first thought….) It might be very interesting… you might find out who bought them. (This apropos snippets you read here and there….) Interesting… Try it, somebody, I have a feeling there might be a gold mine there… I just never get the time.

Since I live 6 hrs later than EDT, I got to hear it on the pc at work just before my shift ended. I think he did just fine.

I didn’t think much of the radio moderator—all those ’stoopid’ questions about big bad bloggers (the good ones check their facts, like you all do…and unlike you are the spew who babble whatever comes into their pin heads and try to be ‘entertaining’ and who can even make a living from their little stream-of-consciousness mock ’serious’ diaharrea. Sp? too tired to google.)

I remember an America where you could discuss anything anywhere, and it was ok, because that was what it was supposed to be about. Even if it got passionate. But even then people were open to ‘learning’. And conceding there might be ’something’ to an opposite point of view–engage brain, think ‘well, that’s something I never considered’. I miss it muchly.

I’ve been gone from there a long time.

‘Free Speech Zones’ creep me out big time. Having to give your Social Security number to get into a public event, and on and on… I’d have punched that thug out and called the police—

And regarding that—WHAT are they collecting SS numbers for if they aren’t running them through computer banks, and what ELSE are they doing with them???? Ever think of THAT???? Isn’t that against the law???? It should be.

Mrs Hardin Smith, help me on this one, why isn’t there a huge outcry???? Or is giving your Social Security number some sort of routine thing now, like ‘name, rank, serial number?

That number used to be like your pin number for your ATM or credit card now. Would you give THAT so some thug on the street or yell it out loud to the person behind you when you pick up a little cash? (And from the depictions, they ARE thugs.) Why not just leave the door of your car unlocked, and some high tech stuff on the back seat while you go to the Mall? Isn’t that the same? I must have missed a lot of stuff since I left, but sorry, I do NOT understand it at all.

Be very careful, hey. Unthinkable in my past. Oh, we had our run-ins with authority, but NOTHING like what you described.

Worst thing was getting pulled over on the highway during the student strike of 1969 and a lot of macho threatening posturing from the State Police, and we showed some ID but they had to let us go, and we got to go to the demo anyway. Or getting arrested and stuck in the armory trying to stop Seabrook, but nothing like NY recently.

And we liked to think we were moving something, so be warned. They used to get ornery and a little scary back then if they felt ‘threatened’, but that was all. Now you are really putting it on the line, and those- that-be aren’t going to like it one bit. Your posts on Senator Boxer proved that. Someone should take a look into that womans’ finances, just a suggestion….

I like that courage of your conviction. Good for you. The higher Lamont’s numbers go up, the more you better organise what you want to do next. But be careful, they might get ugly, and I wouldn’t want anything untoward to happen.

Which is sort of nice in one way during our current ‘heat wave’ where it goes up as high as 42 degrees in the sun lately and stays humid–in northern Europe, but what the hell, no global warming, nope.

(So what if the glaciers here are melting???? More water for the lawns, hey…. A couple of major floods? Rebuild right back on the river bank and watch your insurance go up, and freak when it happens again two years later and all the re-building was for nothing…. Tornadoes where there never used to be any at all except maybe every couple of hundred years? Ooooh, where’s Dorothy???? Maybe my BRAIN is melting, after all I did water the garden and got wet… /snark…)

But it chills me in another way too. And it ain’t good.

The past two years I’m in culture shock thanks to the Internets–or is it the Tubes?–I get so confused… I hardly recognise anything I used to know about where I grew up.

Unless I come here to FDL. And then I get a little spark of hope.

Sorry, but it gets frightening. Am gonna have to re-organise my priority index, or is it filofax? I know I misplaced it somewhere in the Nineties….

We Progressive Democrats, have to be ready and willing to strongly SUPPORT Joe Lieberman if he wins the Primary. (God knows I have had to hold my nose since my Senator, Ken Salazar, was elected).

However, we will be watching Joe, and the Democratic “leadership” very closely. It will tear the party apart if Lieberman loses the Primary, and runs as an independent, WITH the support of party leaders like Nancy Pelosi

I am a proud Democrat, but, I will leave the party in a heartbeat if it abandon’s its support for “small-d” democratic values.
