I drove all the way up to Waterbury yesterday excited about the prospect of seeing Bill Clinton speak. Whatever one may think of Bill, his politics and his legacy, his defiance in the face of the right-wing hate machine onslaught are inspirational. His 1999 SOTU speech was a thing to behold.
Spazeboy and I both had legitimate tickets, and were both given the heave-ho, recognized by Lieberman staffers we had encountered when we accompanied the Kiss Float to other canned events for Holy Joe. Spazeboy has his version of events here. Joe has evidently been picking up pointers from his kissin' cousin George Bush on how to host a public appearance, because the same goons who nearly made the brave camera-weilding Connecticut Bob soil himself yesterday were in full force at the Bubba bash. Lieberman's float-o-phobia is getting acute.
There were speakers that broadcast Clinton's speech into the street in the poor Waterbury neighborhood but they wouldn't let you stand close enough to hear them -- when we tried we were quickly forced back into the "Free Speech Zone" at the end of the street. In the brief bit of Holy Joe's whiny pitch we managed to catch he quite predictably lied, pretending he was boldly challenging the Bush Administration on global warming. How he did this as the only New England Senator to vote for the Bush/Cheney energy bill he did not explain.
Spazeboy will be on Colin McEnroe's show at 5:40 pm EDT today talking about our Bushian ejection experience. You can listen live here.

woo-hoo!
Jane! Spazeboy!
You all took the words out of my fingertips. Happy Birthday Jane!
Who hoo! Jane and Spazeboy! Give em hell like we knew you would.
one suggestion - Spazeboy, next time you play the role of a HoJo guy, you must simply be Much More As*hole-ish!
I’m certain the guy was not nearly as nice as you…
WOW S-l-o-w Toobz today. Mercury retrograde ends just exactly when?
spazeboy!
Super video. When I heard they turned away Jane and Spazeboy, I was giddy with excitement. They have really kicked over the hornet’s nest this time.
And happy birthday to you Jane! We still love you even if the Lieberman staff don’t.
State Democratic leaders who get on the Joe LIeberman train to Loserville are risking their own careers. The most egregious breach was by James Amann, the Dem. Speaker of the House in Connecticut, who referred to those of us Connecticut Democrats who prefer Ned Lamont as a “shrieking minority”. Amann should be removed from his perch atop the General Assembly for this insult to members of his own party. He’s also made a complete fool of himself in public, as the latest Quinnipiac Poll has Lamont ahead of Lieberman 51-47 and other polls are even more in Lamont’s favor among Democrats. At the very least, Amann should have referred to us as a “shrieking majority,” don’t you think?
Ooooh that steamed me so much that I went and left petulant “You’re outta here honey” emails at his senate and campaign site.
What going on anyway, can’t you hire goons who say “dollface” anymore?
A repeat from the last thread. You can email Clinton at www.clintonfoundation.org or call 212-348-8882. If he doesn’t know about this, he should. It makes him look very, very bad.
I just left him a voice message.
Old Sow, Mercury goes direct July 29. Not a moment too soon for this girl…
Jane, you wild hippie protester you! Power to the people in Connecticut, and down with gasbags who don’t represent us.
A proud member of the shrieking majority.
Thanks, egregious. I’m sure I had much more fun outside with Spazeboy, Maura, Thirdparty, DeanFan84, Dad and Jon than they had inside listening to Holy Joe drone on in that unbearable whine of his.
Sometimes the universe intervenes on your behalf.
Truth to power, that’s our BirthDay Grrrl!
I bet you’ve both been thrown outta better places, but I really think BigDog needs to hear about this.
We are all spazeboy Democrats!

Quick OT - Atrios has link to Crooks and Liars - Tweety cut loose on Imus, bashed Bushco foreign policy, and according to John actually mentioned “elections” as the way to deal with things.
Whoever called this “the greatest show democracy has to offer” just now introduced the nail to the hammer, by Ned!
Happy B-Day Jane! Way to go you two, and everyone else in CT doing the dirty work.
Jane
I have found your whole adventure to CT to get a birds eye view of the campaign very enjoyable to read about and watch.
Thanks
OT In an effort to support and explain American Middle East policy, I thought I would try to clarify some recent statements of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Rice: “We need to get to a sustainable peace, there must be a way for people to reconcile their differences.”
Translation: Israel needs its victory legitimized. There must be a way to get you Arabs to see this.
Rice: “I have no doubt there are those who wish to strangle a democratic and sovereign Lebanon in its crib. We, of course, also urgently want to end the violence.”
Translation: Israel is bombing Lebanon so we blame you Arabs. Condi likes the word urgent and she’s using it a lot. No doubt, that’s why she waited 12 days before going to the Mideast. It jist made everything so much more “urgent”. BTW what is all this talk about birth pangs and now cribs? Seems like Condi has something on her mind.
Rice: “It is time for a new Middle East. It is time to say to those that don’t want a different kind of Middle East that we will prevail. They will not.”
Translation: Neocons are very much alive and running things. PNAC would be so proud.
Rice: “The Palestinian people have lived too long with violence and the daily humiliations that go along with the circumstances here.”
Translation: lived too long with violence equals 39 years of Israeli occupation, daily humiliations equals 39 years of Israeli occupation, circumstances here equals 39 years of Israeli occupation. Conclusion: 39 years of Israeli occupation have nothing to do with your problems.
Rice: “You have our pledge that our common work of bringing a two-state solution to the people of Palestine and the people of Israel that we will not tire in our efforts.”
Translation: “Our pledge” equals You know you can trust President Bush, right? “Two-state solution” equals Israel plus Palestinian bantustan. “We will not tire in our efforts” equals our efforts have been minimal and we intend to keep them that way.
So, what were you guys going to do once you got in there?
Do tell.
People who care enough about our democracy to be involved in the political process have less freedom of expression than angry anti-abortionists who threaten women who are under emotional distress?
This “free speech zone” stuff disgusts me, and it needs to never, ever be accepted by people on the ground. (Easier said than done, I know.)
Don’t worry Jane. A little petzie like him can’t get a good Leo down (mine was yesterday, which I much prefer to think of as the 32nd anniversary of the US v. Nixon decision).
Many, many happy returns.
Mental_Equinox,
Marshall Wittmann really is clueless isn’t he? This bullshit idea of moving to the center has to eventually evaporate. The “center” is a moving target that drifts to the right every time they chase it. It’s called magnetic warfare.
I left a message at the Clinton Foundation, and you can too:
212-348-8882 press 3. You get a chance to re-record your message so if you get nervous, like I did, you can fix your message!
Democrats excluded from a Democratic rally organized around a speech by Democratic former President Clinton: Lieberman and his LieberTroopers should be ashamed for excluding a constituent. As well as a Jane Hamsher of the Left.
I am very glad to see the focus back on Joe Lieberman and his STUPID campaign for re-election. At least BigDog had the grace and courage to say neutral, almost nice things about Ned Lamont.
Can I resist getting on a plane these next two weeks? Really want to be in Connecticut for this fun.
OT to Bong
You still here? Tanks for the info back on “They Write Letters”. Haven’t been back since the late 70’s, but from what I hear/read, I might not want to disturb my own pictures of up-&-down 71 (especially mid-October and dogwood time). Just hope the sprawl somehow hasn’t engulfed Tontitown, but spoze that’s too much to ask . . .
Heh, I love the video. Should be even better when I get home and can hear it with sound (no goofing off at work, doncha know).
OT, that Chris Matthews on Imus (up at C&L) is pretty incredible. Definitely worth a a listen. Matthews passionate, angry and articulate and Imus a farkin’ tepid fool.
Spazeboy! =)

Honestly? I was going to have a good time listening to Bill Clinton with some of my fellow Democrats. I couldn’t bring in my camera and I don’t know when I’ll next have an opportunity to see Big Dog, so I just wanted to soak it up.
Lieberman’s staff got to play “gatekeeper” for Bill Clinton yesterday, but in a video that I’ll post tomorrow, I have Ned’s word that if Bill comes back to campaign for him–I’ll be one of the first to get in.
I hope you guys can whip some publicity up in Vermont because residents there will be DISGUSTED over such jack-boot tactics.
OT:
For the non-lawyers who didn’t sit through two semesters of con law, if you want to understand how disgusting these signing statements are, read this by a Justice Dept. lawer who defended Clinton’s use of signing statements:
http://www.slate.com/id/2144476/entry/2144829/
from: Walter Dellinger
to: Dahlia Lithwick
This is the crux of his point — and it explains the problem better than anything I’ve read:
This administration has taken the astounding position that if the president has “inherent authority” to do and act whenever Congress is silent, then it follows that any act of Congress that regulates such an authority is an invalid impingement on his “inherent power.” This conflation of what a president can do if no law prohibits his action and what he can when the law forbids it is a truly insidious legal doctrine.

ot … but wtf democrats critiquing Maliki as Angie mentioned two threads down … so wrong on so many levels. As MFI points out, this shows a “wanton disregard for the lives of Iraqis and the american troops in Iraq”
http://www.courant.com/news/na.....ines-local
Yeah someone should inform Commander Codpiece et al that Chris Matthews somehow managed to gnaw through his restraints hehe.
Just in case, heading typo: Spazeboy and Me… should be Spazeboy and I Get Chucked…
And thaz okay…come Primary Day, J-Lie can get Up-Chucked…
Happy B-Day, Jane!
Jane, I really hope CT media picks up your adventures with the Liebergoons. That’s damn newsworthy.
OT Nice one Hugh at 11:30.
Per angie prior thread, Eugene Robinson and Richard Cohen published opposite stories today about it. Cohen argued Israel has been “proportional.”
Did Kobe and Katie and Lucy get into the Clinton rally? Did they get pictures?
When these idiots take it upon themselves to act with authority they don’t possess, anyone involved should as much as they can to get names and descriptions of the assholes. Video or photographs would be nice, too.
Swopa 38 — that was my fabulous fool-proof disguise!
And like Spazeboy, all I wanted to do was get in and hear Bubba. Neither of us had any intention of heckling Lieberman when he spoke, nor have we done so before. And they knew that.
Hoo-boy. One of those End-Timesers coming up on CNN.
just got a note from my mom who heard from a CT pol that the dems are importing folks from NJ and NY to work for Lieberman … (Jane - if you need the name, let me know)
Judging from the clips they played on NPR this morning, Clinton’s speech was less than enthusiastic.
Hello y’all from one who never went away. Want to start the bid at 50 bucks for that ticket to ‘nowhere mans’ lost revival. Sparks always rise and your tops. Happy happy!!
If you call the Clinton Foundation, Press #4, and not #3. I just talked to a live person, and not a machine.
I told the nice young man that I wanted to thank Bill for his visit to Connecticut yesterday, that I am absolutely terrified of what Joe’s threatened Indy run will do to our CT Dem Party, and to our hopes of winning 3 House seats and the Governor’s mansion, and that if Joe were to lose, I hope President Clinton would come back to Connecticut to urge Joe Lieberman to do the right thing, and simply retire.
Anybody have Peter Dauu’s email address?
A guide on why Bob Somerby defends Joe Lieberman. (Hint: It has to do with refusing to admit that Gore made a monumental blunder in 2000.)
Tweety hits the big point and one the Dems should be pushing nationally: We need a fresh start.
Everybody knows we need to do something different. But the current crew has backed themselves into a corner and cannot change. They’ve dug in too deep.
Only new leadership can even think about new ways of moving us forward.
Ooo, CNN now has a bad brushfire in Benedict Canyon, Bev’ly Hills — very near houses.
Hugh @ 11:30 — maybe Condi’s adopted one o’those snowflakes….
And I heard Matthews live on Imus this morning-it was incredible. J-Lie’s been an Imus irregular for years, Dodd also. Time for Imus to open his eyes to the new kid on the block and we kidz on the blog….
lotus:
You might want to stay away… The “sprawl” goes from Greenland north past the MO border. It’s still lovely in the village when the dogwoods bloom, however… and the fall colors are splendid (weather permitting).
:-)
I gotta admit , you handled that a LOT better than I would have. I tend to get a little pissy when a**holes yank things out of my hand.BTW, I strongly suggest the old Groucho Marx nose/glasses for maximum inconspicouity.
Is that a real word?lol.
When they start turning away people (I understand they did not “sell out” the hall), I would say (actually it’s a favorite phrase of my younger daughter) that on top of everything else, “that completes the ensemble.”
Great video! Something tells me that’s going to be as haunting to Joe as the Float.
Siun — its been out there for well over a week that Joe has so neglected his homebase political machine that he’s been having to hire folk come in and do his ‘volunteer work’ — he can afford it but it’s also a sign of his fundamental political organizational weakness. After 18 years in the Senate, he should have legions of doting voters willing to work for him … but he doesnt.
I was a little disappointed in Lamont’s stance on Lebanon:
http://nedlamont.com/issues/62.....iddle-east
Is this an issue where he has to be parsing words so carefully? It can’t be how he actually feels. If Lamont really thinks Israel is acting in self defense, and this is still about the soldiers’ kidnapping, that’s a bit alarming to me. If Lamont’s statement is politics as usual, I suppose it’s understandable, but I wish he’d be more plain spoken and truthful (damn the consequences), as he seems to be on other issues. It’s part of what separates him from Lieberman.
You know, it would be great to get that video out there. These guys have painted a picture of the netroots and bloggers as these unwashed, crazy, wildly angry maniacs. This disproves that theory and it would be good for people to see that activists are just everyday people.
This is making my blood boil, siun @ 41. It is not an antiwar stance at all; it is just plain stupid and does show wanton disregard for lives. It is grandstanding of the worst kind– I want my party and my country to be better than this. I am furious at what I consider pandering & bootlicking behavior that shows utter contempt for and ignorance of the long history and culture of the region.
Jane, fwiw, Clinton is getting his clock cleaned in this Hartford Courant poll (credit goes to lotus for finding it this am)
Does Former President Bill Clinton’s support of Sen. Joseph Lieberman make you more likely to vote for Lieberman?
9.5% Yes (118 responses)
21.0% No, it makes no difference (260 responses)
69.5% No, it makes me less likely to vote for Lieberman (862 responses)
I can’t believe anyone is patting Chris Matthews on the back. Just because someone happens to agree with you sometimes doesn’t make them smart, honest, interesting, or worth listening to. Matthews is a self-important turd in a world of self-important turds. Just walk away, he doesn’t deserve to be listened to.
*ilson - nodding, I assume Joe needs to import supporters and mom has *not* been impressed but she is worried at the party support for Joe shown by Bill’s appearance. My interpretation of her comments is that we’re fighting a good fight but that the powers are now slamming back.
DeanFan84 at 50, usually you can reach Daou at The Daou Report at salon.com but it says there, they are off for the month of July.
Happy Birthday, honey LOL
OT-CNN doing a piece “Apocalypse Now?”
59% believe it will happen.
Norah & Gallagher (faith & values correspondent..who knew that had one of those)even mentioning rapure ready website.
Blahh.
Here are a few snips of the email I got this AM from Sen Boxer in reply to my email sent a few days ago ….
“So why did I go to Connecticut? When Joe asked me to tell his constituents about our work together on the environment and choice, I told him I would.
I realize this decision has deeply disappointed you. I completely understand your position and only hope that you will come to understand mine.
“He is one of a small handful of Senators who has joined with me both times I have introduced the Freedom of Choice Act, the most strongly pro-choice piece of legislation in the U.S. Senate.
Because of his long record on choice and other important progressive issues, Joe has won the endorsement of organizations such as Planned Parenthood, NARAL, AFL-CIO, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Human Rights Campaign.
Of course, as you rightly point out, Joe and I don’t agree on everything. And nothing has deeply disappointed me more than our complete disagreement on the Iraq War.”
I can post the whole thing if there is anyone wants. I think all wh sent her an email about teh CT trip got/ will get the same reply I did.
Cheers.
Also, I just finished the New York magazine story on Joe. It is ironic that the man that is trying to paint himself as a victim, because the dems don’t have room for him because he disagrees on a few issues, doesn’t have room for people in his events that disagree with him on a few issues.
angie - I am livid
and it seems like it’s the “progressives” like DeLauro who have decided to “stand up” on this …
horrible sign of how far AIPAC’s tentacles reach into the dems as well and such a total disaster in terms of speaking to the ME
Phoenix Woman, I did happen to read Somerby today, I don’t think this helps Holy Joe out much:
None of this has a thing to do with who should win the Connecticut race. If we were a Connecticut voter, we’d be considering a replacement, too.
Tsk, tsk, Jane…You and Spazeboy neglected to display your official CFL voting inspector badges…Its unbridled power maximizes bamboozlement upon Joe-minions like a Jedi mind trick on Elan Sleazebaggano.
;>)
It’s how Karl prefers it.
Saltinwound @ 61
I’m disappointed generally in how our whole Legislature is beholden to the Israel lobby. Getting AIPAC out of our political process is a longer-term problem though. We will have time to tackle that issue through 2007 and 2008.
Not something I would hold against Ned personally at this point.
hey guys, did you see this in Froomkin’s article today? “Bush boldly signed legislation yesterday that bars condominium and homeowner associations from restricting how the American flag can be displayed”
I think we should have a contest to see which house that belongs to an HOA can display the flag in the most creative way - something like what the freeway blogger does.
“I was a little disappointed in Lamont’s stance on Lebanon.”
Saltin, I totally agree, but can you cut Ned a little slack?
He’s got everyone in the Dem party except FDR and African Americans campaigning against him for a Bushclone who says he won’t abide by the results of the Dem primary.
IMO it’s completely unrealistic for Ned to take a different position in CT. There are plenty of other Dems in the U.S. who can make the case that has to be made.
Cornflake, thank you.
Excuse me, Jane…I said I ALMOST soiled myself. Big difference.
Jeez!
Ejected from a Lieberman pep ralley?
Didn’t the “brown shirts” do the same thing to their perceived enemies previous to the ramp-up to to WW II? Of course the brown-shirts did other things to their opponents outside the hall. I would submit that being denied entrance to any Lieberman function is a “blue-badge of courage”.
CT Bob, be glad you don’t have Ken Starr sniffing the evidence *g*.
uptownNYchick @ 69 - Boxer’s letter is posted
here at 88, I think…
I hope that Jane and spazeboy continue to peacefully seek admittance to future Lieberman events and that spazeboy deputizes a collegue to record the occasions on video. Give the Lieberman campaign staff more opportunities to demonstrate what fascists they are, and publicize it.
btw, did The Kiss Float attend the Clinton event?
Aw, Bong, thanks. That’s what I’ve sensed. Been more-than-half seriously considering bugging-out back to Fetvul or Spfd if [HA — when] we get more ‘canes here, but the impression you just confirmed argues, “Well, not Fetvul.” I’ve seen S. Florida, and hills wouldn’t improve it.
Dang those Waltons, anyhow.
Just inhibits me to face old-ladyhood where’s there’s ice to fall on . . .
Ah, I just read it again. The whole sentence. Now it makes sense. Sorry bout that Jane!
I’m getting blog-vision; time to take a break.
whoops, correction @ 82 - Barb’s letter at 18

Yeh, saw that too — but only 17% believe “in my lifetime.”
Which figure, we can surmise, is miraculously ALSO where Chimpy’s JAR will finally settle.
here’s the story angie and I were discussing … this is astonishing:
how do the dems see this as helping Iraq or themselves?

OT
LHP and all who helped me with preparing for radio with Ann C. yesterday. Thanks again.
The report back: the host cut the segment short and I didn’t get on, after listening to that evil wanker for at least 15 minutes. (aaaaaggghhh!!!! the cackling!!!) There were others who did, though. I have been asked to do it next time. (There’s going to BE a next time?? Urg.)
Meanwhile, I alerted Crooks and Liars to tape it.
Oh there they go again. The Israeli military is pounding Beirut. Just a little pest extermination. Like in men, woman and children, who have nothing to do with Hezbollah. The Israeli government is doing genocide. This needs to stop! Bush, Rice, Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld and a bunch of others fit the definition of war criminals.
The pilot is terrific!!

siun, “astonishing” it is (my emphasis).
As IF!
That was some good weed Busted found for us this morning, but whatever Reid and Schumer got into runs rings around it!
It’s the plaid hat, Jane. It’s a dead giveaway for ‘radical subversive progressive’ type.
OK Kiddo - take a look at the link I posted just above - the dems are going all out to critique Maliki for criticizing Israel!
This is very bad stuff indeed …
909 days left if we can’t throw his a** in jail first.

Word of The Spazeboy Incident is spreading through the tubes of the internets. Josh Marshall just flagged it at Talking Points Memo, via TPM Muckraker (linking back to Spazeboy’s blog). Josh Marshall’s audience is quite mainstream, this should be buzzing in Washington D.C. very soon.
YouTube is a pretty incredible tool for the grass roots. I wonder how much longer before the authorities decree that it can’t be used for political purposes?
You are SO right siun at 12:14
Fawaz Gerges , author of ” The Far Enemy: Why Jihad Went Global ” and professor of international affairs and Middle Eastern studies at Sarah Lawrence College, was online Tuesday, July 25, at 11 a.m. ET to discuss discusses the ongoing crisis in Lebanon and Israel. Gerges, who yesterday returned from Beirut, is spending 15 months in the Middle East conducting field research. was terrific today:
“Fawaz Gerges: There is a misunderstanding in Israel and the United States that Israel can defeat Hezbollah, or Party of God, on the battlefield and rid Lebanon of pro-Iranian Shiite’s militancy. Here are some facts to consider.
First, Hezbollah is not just a militia; it is a social movement that is deeply rooted within the Lebanese Shiite community which represents about 38 perecnt of the population. Hezbollah has a large social and walfare infrastructure that provides social services to hundreds of thousands of people - schools, clinics, daycare centers, and much needed employment opportunities.
Equally important, Hezbollah provide a large segment of the Shiite community, historically disadvanteged and marginalized with a sense of identity and pride. The hammering away at Hezbollah will likely deepen the feeling of victimhood within the Shiite community and turn it against Israel and the West.
Secondly, contrary to the conventional wisdom, hezbollah is not a like rotten tooth that can be plucked out easilty. Hezbollah is one of the most pivotal political players on the Lebanese landscape. It has two ministers in the current government and a large popular base of support in the country and the region.
Thirdly, since the mid-1980s Hezbollah has proved itself on the battlefield against Israeli military might. It forced Israel to withdraw under fire from a small strip of land in souther Lebanon in 2000. No other Arab state or a group has been able to militarily defeat Israel on the battlefield. Hezbollah is the most powerful paramilitary non-state organization in the region. Its military and organizational skills dwarf those of Palestinian Hamas and other militant groups like Al Qaeda. It is a power to be reckoned with. Israeli leaders have already scaled their demands in the last few days because they have come to appreciate the costliness of aiming too high in its fight against Hezbollah….
Fawaz Gerges: Hello Graham, good to hear from you. I just arrived in the States from Beirut yesterday.
I fear that if the conflict continues and if Israel keeps targeting the civilian infrastructure and institutions, the democratically-elected Lebanese government could collapse. Israel’s systemic aerial bombing and increasing civilian casualties - over 330 people have died and more a thousand injured - have already undermined the stability of the government. Small wonder that the Lebanese prime minister has made several appeals to the international community, particularly the United States, to broker a ceasefire on humnanitarian grounds. He also warned U.S. and Europe that Israel’s collective punishment policy of the Lebanese people and government is jeopardizing the future of Lebanon and his government.
I also fear that the emergence of a devastating sectarian strife between Shiites and Sunnis in Lebanon. This fault line could wreck Lebanon tear it to shreds. I think that Israel’s punitive measures are designed to turn the Lebanese people against Hezbollah. The only probelm with this equation is the potential of internal strife that will likely burn Lebanon and will have spillover effects on Israel for the forseebale future.”….
lotus - I am stunned here - what is the upside for them in doing this? and how murderously clueless can they be? Maliki is not my choice for head of Iraq but damn he is the head at the moment and attacking him like this is so ….
off to scream a bit more
It sounds like the “Israel Is Always Right, All the Time” lobby is putting the squeeze on Senate Democrats.
Jane and Spaze were adorable.
Re: the polls - it still very much bothers me that the Harris poll shows that we have gone UP 14% on people who think there were WMDS in Iraq. And that spin on Hussein having strong ties to al-Qaeda is back. I wouldn’t discount those - I think spinning is in full force pre-election and there needs to be response.
Just yesterday I saw someone opining that Iraqi women weren’t able to vote before we rescued Iraq and that girls weren’t able to go to school. And the “fighting them over there, so we don’t have to fight them here” spiel.
I think realists decided once the numbers got down to the 30s from the 70 that most people finally had figured it out. IMO, there needs to be some noise back.
It is astonishing that the dems are trying to twist the arm of a man already perceived as the puppet of the US by his people, the democratically elected PM of a sovereign nation, the Republic of Iraq, and further isolate him as a stooge for America while Iraq is in flames with 100’s killed a day while his people and a lot of the world see Israel as committing collective violence in another democracy in the ME.
OMG!!!!!!!
siun — isnt it time that Americans realize Maliki is no Western-style Liberal Democrat ? He is so reactionary he wouldnt shake hands with Condi Rice or you. I quite disagree about using Israel as a cudgel to beat him with — the Shia death squads run by his government is horrid enough.
John Casper, I am cutting Lamont “a little slack.” That’s why I used the words “a little disappointed,” instead of more heated offerings. This isn’t a deal breaker for me. I’m just saying that one of my main problems with Lieberman is how he accomodates and appeases. I personally would prefer to see Lamont not do it on this life and death issue.
what’s that old adage about
a woman scorned?
oh yeah… something about “hell hath no fury”…
where the Abramoff scandal began and Scanlon’s downfall at Muckraker…. a little field trip to where it all began.
If Negroponte had an ounce of character, he would be in the oval office pounding his fist on Bush’s desk, demanding that Bush rein in Israel.
How dumb am I for even thinking that Negroponte might consider this as part of his @#$%^&* job?
Happy Birthday Jane! Kind-of a nice present from NoMo’s boys, giving you an opportunity to showcase true American values on a national stage!
And I’m so glad to hear the hat’s a disguise; diamonds should not be covered with mud on a regular basis (although it didn’t seem to work anyway, that’s the thing about diamonds…)
My apologies Saltin.
btw, John Casper, I have used your terrorist vs all things good and right question twice in chats at the wapo and had them published. thank you; hopefully the idea will take root in some heads.
“…demanding that Bush reign in Israel.”
Isn’t it bad enough that he reigns here?
Happy birthday, Jane!
John, don’t be silly, it’s fine.
Fawaz was great today.
Bush is opposed to the Israeli genocide- but wants it to go on longer! Yes folks- that’s his official position.
