Dear Auntie Jane:
When I heard from my momma that today was your birthday, I ran into our living room to give my FDL teddy bear that you sent to me a smooch, and to sing it happy birthday. Sure hope you heard me — I was singing very loudly (and mostly on key, bright girlie that I am).
I’m sorry that mean old Joe Lieberman threw you out of his party yesterday. What a doodyhead. Didn’t he know that it was your birthday today? I hope that you and your doggies have a good day, and get lots of time to play and eat cake.
I like cake. I’m sending you a picture from my very first birthday and the first time I ever tasted frosting. Nummy!
Have a happy, happy birthday. Give Kobe a smooch please, and have some cake from me today. (Momma and I have been talking a lot about cake non stop ever since she mentioned it was your birthday. I think I’m wearing her down, and I sense a piece with lots of frosting in my future.)
XOXO, Fi

Jane, a note from Fi. Luckyduck.
So, you’re a Leo, huh?
Never would have guessed that!
I’m spending mine on Sunday in Pascagoula, MS for some Katrina relief.
Anyone down there need anything from Atlanta?
Anne at 8 — I look at this picture now, and I marvel at how tiny she was back then. *sniffle* They sure do grow up quickly, don’t they?
Happy Birthday to Jane.
That’s a beautiful baby, too.

That’s not a peanut, it’s a twinkle star!
Beautiful…
Oh, Fiona! Thank you! I completely forgot it was my birthday until Pach called me at noon. The poodles were quite self-absorbed this morning and into their own thing and did not mention it.
Thank you so very much. Am hoping to spend it with Maura, Ned, Tom Swan and others tonight at the Connecticut Choice Voice event.
Until then, we BLOG!!
Wow, what a cutie — green frosting !!
Hi, Fi!!
Happy, happy natality, Jane.

May your present be 70% Ned Lamont victory on August 8th!!!
Happy Birthday.
In Lamont news, I found this in a diary on Kos:
“Howard Stern and Co. spent 5 minutes trashing Joe Lieberman this morning. Baba Booey, the only CT resident on the show, said that he would be voting for Ned Lamont in the primary. Howard’s radio show reaches a few million people on Sirius Satellite Radio, many of who are in NY and southern CT.
Howard attacked Lieberman for his advocacy of censorship on TV and radio, as well as his cheerleading of the war. Anyone else hear it? Good stuff it was.
This race is getting a whole lot of attention.”
Christy -
Is that Fiona’s first post?:) That’s a cute picture of her!
Happy birthday, you Jane Hampshire of the Left!
Happy BDay, Jane!
.
Christy at 12 – had the same feelings looking at my older daughter in the wedding dress she’s decided on. One day, they’re covered with icing, and what seems like the next day, they’re getting married…thought I was handling it well, but found a huge lump in my throat and trouble getting out the words as I looked at her, just glowing…
Best wishes and birthday hugs, Jane.
Oh that’s so sweet! Happy Birthday Jane!
For she’s a jolly good FDL’r! Happy Birthday, Jane!
And Fiona, you are adorable!
Happy Birthday Jane!
Glad we were able to remind you to take a moment to celebrate.
Dr. Bong wishes Jane a most excellent b-day!
Now back downstairs to look for more doobage.

He’s my paternal grandfather, born this day in 1870.
I hope Jane can clarify for us exactly what The Ex-President said. Some outlets quote him as saying that the Iraq War is the “elephant in the room,” while others quote BigDog as calling it “the pink elephant in the room.”
I remember pink elephants from Dumbo (”pink elephants on parade”) but am unsure if that’s what Bill meant…..
In celebration of Jane’s birthday (and since I don’t know where to send flowers and pumpkin chocolates) I’m heading over the our ActBlue page to send a little something to Ned’s campaign in honor of Jane. Anyone else care to join in?

Jane – your horoscope for today, from astrology.com:
Christy, the evidentiary record before this court is so strong that the minor in question has inherited her mother’s straight-ahead, take-no-prisoners, kick-ass-with-a-*g* character that opposing counsel simply has no case to the contrary.
WOWF!
TeddySF – “pink elephants”, from when I was a kid, was a reference to a bad drunk’s hallucinations during alcohol withdrawal…
It’s also the Birthday of three other fabulous women: Barbara Harris, Annie Ross and Illeanna Douglas.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JANE!
That’s not a miner, that’s a peanut!!!
Aren’t pink elephants the imaginary things drunks see? Big difference from “elephant in the room”.
Happy Birthday Jane!
May you have peace and good health in your new year.
Well, Stephen, we of the world thank your family for its magnificent gift to us 136 years ago!
Happy Birthday Jane!!!
Leos in the Hizzouse!!!
Happy Birthday Jane!
Fiona’s a cutie. That picture reminds me of my grand-peanuts who live in another state. I miss them (sniff…)
Jane and Speceboy posted a video at Huffingtonpost on their ejection from Leiberman event. Very funny!
How about a few more 7-25 birthdays?
1840 – Flora Adams Darling, founder of the Daughters of the American Revolution
1924 – Frank Church (Sen-D-Id), for whom the famous “Church Commission” was named, which led to the enactment of FISA
1948 – Steve Goodman, the late folksinger from Chicago, best known for writing “The City of New Orleans” (after riding along the train for a Muskie campaign event)
Another notable event of 7-25:
1775 – Maryland issues currency depicting George III trampling Magna Carta
Great,
Now Ive got the munchies.
AND, cottonmouth.
Man it’s been a long time.

Happy Birthday, Jane. The more hell you raise, the better off we all are.
Is there a backdoor linky to that vid somewhere, siun? I can’t get the one on HufPo to play.
OT– cspan2 replaying Greco (from the ABA) interview from this morning.
re: the video… I particularly like the re-enactment where Jane plays Spazeboy!
Lotus, try this link for the vid…

Sometimes I have a real hard time believing what I see on CNN’s crawl. Sez there some jockey’s been fined for head-butting his horse. Now there’s a toopid jockey.
Happy Birthday Jane. Have a great time in CT helping to take back our country one state at a time.
May our thoughts also remember the brave woman who this day delivered a dynamo to the world. She is well remembered and with each act of true patriotisim, Jane, her memory is burnished a little brighter.
Bonne Fte Jane!
Happy birthday Jane, do something special for yourself today!
lotus — if you have ad.doubleclick.net blocked, it won’t play. I had to turn that off before the video part of the page would even show up.
OldCoastie -
That reinactment was really cute; Jane is so relaxed and funny!
MUST SEE link from siun AT 10:37
Spazeboy, did you get the cop’s badge number? I suspect someone filed a false report with him that you were a troublemaker. It’s likely he made a note of it. You definitely want to try and find him and find out who in Joe’s campaign basically filed a false police report.
Boy are they afraid– but they RECOGNIZE the opposition by face. I would have been hopping mad as a registered dem in CT– steam must have been pouring out of Spazeboy’s ears. whew.
Great video and love the hat, Jane!
lotus 38, honey, is there any left? I could use a change of perspective!
Jane, Luke sends greetings to Kobe and joins me in singing the lambie birthday song:
Hippo Birdy, two ewe
Hippo Birdy, two ewe
(imagine cute drawings of animals singing)
Hippo birdy, dear Jane Hamsher of the venemous rabid lambs of the left,
Hippo Birdy, two ewe.
Fi – another gorgeous ReddHedd! Luke likes his cake with no frosting. Can you imagine?
Happy birthday, Jane! Hope it’s fabulous in every way.
Christy, love the pic. Quite the adorable little peanut you’ve got there.
Stephen, I’ve got a print of one of your grandfather’s pieces (Dark) up in my cubie at work. Like angie, I love his use of color.
And happy birthday to my friend Allison, wherever she may be today.
Happy BD Jane.
I’m sending a virtual bottle of Sonoma County Champagne. Save it for the Ned victory!
Thanks for trying, Jenny, but that takes me back to the same sitch: the HufPo page all right, but on it just a long gray “table with real short legs”-looking thing (like the bracket character lying down on the job), and no button or anything to click.
Oh well, betcha we’ll have our own YouTube of it later, so I’ll just wait for that.
Birthdays are for diving into the pudding head first. Enjoy your day!
lotus, that sucks. Yeah, I’m sure Jane will post it here very soon. :)
De-lurking to join in the best birthday wishes to Jane, from one of the rabid lambs
Wow great vid. What a coupla cuties.
So, if they were spazeboy and Jane’s tickets, provided under their own SSN, how could entrance be denied? The LieberTroopers have some ’splaining to do — as do the COPS if they helped.
I gotta say, Jane, I hope you, spazeboy, and the Float are obeying all traffic laws for the next 2 weeks, because it seems like Mr. PoPo is working for RGJoe!
Great video (did I say that already?) oh, and happy brithday!!!
lotus, if you saw how bratty the horse was acting, or if you’ve ever had an experience with a bratty horse, you’d probably feel it was much ado about nothing. Trust me when I tell you that if your horse does not know who’s in charge, you are at the mercy of a 1,000 lb animal, which, if out of control, can kill you.
I just sent a little something to Ned to celebrate Jane’s Birthday … let’s make it an FDL party:

Oh I know, Anne, one nearly did once. (I been kinda strange ever since.)
And yes, Mommybrain, it’s coming right around — Christy passed, but it was between Teddy and Bong last I saw, and you know they’re generous.
Grandma J, amen. Happy birthday, Jane, and thank you for having such drive and determination. And for being so funny. ;0)
joyeux anniversaire, Jane!
Hey guys,
I just posted my write-up here. I’m pretty sure Jane will link it later, but readers of the comments section of this post will get first crack at it.
Also, I have a YouTube version of the same video at this link for those of you having trouble with the HuffPo version.

Oooooh, horses. I love horses. My very first love — and I did better with horses that my husband. Oh well. And bratty horses are fearful horses. I rode horses since I was 10. Taught my daughter to ride and now 2 of my granddaughters.
Sorry, I went astray there for a bit – this is Jane’s thread.
Happy Happy Birthday
to all the boys and girls
— and those slightly older.
de-lurking to say, “Happy Birthday, Jane”.
And Christie, love the letter from the peanut and the photo. So cute.
Just reading Spazeboy’s write-up now, and it occurs to me that Bill Clinton should be made aware of the fact that democrats WITH tickets, who came to see him, were turned away, tix grabbed from their hands.
I think his office might have something to say about that.
Joe through Jane out of his party? Dayum. Is Jane planning to blog about that today?
Happy Birthday, Jane!
angie – Michael Steele??? Good God, if that gets out – and it’s true – that is going to hurt him big-time in his run for Paul Sarbanes’ Senate seat here in MD. Will keep my fingers crossed that it is true.
Steele has tried to maintain the illusion that he is not joined at the hip with Bush and Co., but that’s pretty hard for him to maintain, as he’s had Rove and Cheney and others raising money for him.
mommybrain:

GREAT WORK AGAIN, spazeboy and Jane! Spaze, you’re a fine storyteller in all media, I now know — much thanks for that link!
Anne– here’s the exchange:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Arlington, Va.: To go off-topic, why was Dana Milbank allowed to provide political cover to the mystery Republican Senate candidate, so said candidate could bash the Bush administration? If said candidate (blogosphere says Michael Steele) would go on the record with his problems with standing with Bush when he disagrees with him on certain things, I’m sure the voters in said state would appreciate the candor, and might even pick up a few undecided voters. But the mystery candidate is a big chicken, and The Post should be ashamed for publishing that article.
Eugene Robinson: Another moment of relief — this time, genuine comic relief. Dana Milbank’s piece this morning was indeed an interview with a mystery Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate who is running in a heavily Democratic state and basically trying to conceal the fact that he is, indeed, a Republican. I imagine there was a lot of discussion on the National desk about the piece. I don’t know for a fact who it was, but my money is on Steele.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..01161.html
OMG spazeboy that reenactment was too funny! Don’t let those tyrants get ya down, you’re fighting the good fight and WINNING!
That’s right Jenny…..and maybe he can make it up to them in some way.

I think Clinton would be incensed; it reflects VERY poorly on him. Well, at least he should know about it.
People born 7/25 …(Happy Birthday, Jane!) (Christy, your peanut is gorgeous – I fear you will have lots of worries in about 14 more years as the boys beat down your door)…Dee
Born today on the 25th, July :
Danger, sex, travel, intellectual brilliance and money are keys to this creature. Their ideal is not a life spent in rural contemplation. (Nobody about to admire them.) People are drawn to July 25 and enjoy allowing him or her to take over. Tag on behind them at airports or ferry crossings, because NO ENTRY means SHORT CUT to this creature and you will find you have jumped the queue. If there’s a problem which needs solving, they sort it. The slightest hint of danger? They enjoy any challenge which utilises their leadership skills and fast reflexes, and their natural vanity is titillated by admiration. Most retain a courteous attitude towards authority figures, if only to be expedient. They are not lawless, although both sexes drive too fast, and irritatingly, won’t let anyone else take the wheel. They get to play at sex games a little earlier than other star signs, but since this master of the universe is one of the goodies, nobody gets hurt and everybody has fun. It’s a good idea, even in adulthood, for them to keep these secrets – but hard, because he’s an amusing gossip, and she is too keen on being seen to be more informed than her companion, to keep a secret. Men and women born under this sign are often tall and good-looking and do well in corporate life as well as starting their own business, because they really don’t have a problem with fitting in with, changing, or running work structures. Find these diplomats of the solar system in the Foreign Office, commanding a sub, heading an advertising agency, newspaper group or, indeed a charity. If July 25 does get involved in any charity fundraising, they will drum up quantities of money, as indeed they do in any walk of life. Both sexes do throw it around a little, but neither sex is frightened of it and most know how to invest carefully.
Body :
July 25 suffers from back problems. Backs flare up under stress, when you least expect trouble and could most do without it. So adopt a lifestyle which is kind to this vulnerability. Even with care, you may get trouble, but less so. Regular workouts can do wonders. Make sure the regime is planned by a professional who is fully informed about the back problem, and check credentials. Swimming is wonderful for backs. Try to use a chair at the office which is specially constructed for backs. There are plenty of them about. And get a hard mattress or sleep on a futon.
Mind :
July 25 is very directed and can be snappy with others who seek to change the subject to another which bores him or her. Since this day can be so incredibly charming, it’s so much better to control irascibility.
——————————————————————————–
angie – thanks for the WaPo thing. Steele would be so wrong for MD. Cardin would be great, but he’s got to beat Mfume in the primary first.
Happy birthday, Jane.
Tell the Joeminator he can’t have your birthday cake and eat it, too.
In fact, tell him he doesn’t get any cake, period!
Cute kid, Christy!
Great video. Happy Birthday Jane. Thanks for all you do.
If Bush hadn’t started the ball rolling (banning attendees with anti-Bush tee shirts at his events, etc.), I just wonder if Joe would’ve had the nerve to toss Jane and Spaze.

Whaddya think, Anne, do those details from Milbank fit Steele pretty snugly, or no?

Thx. I’m going to write.
Thanks, Bong, just what the Doctor ordered.
Jane and Spazeboy – First, may I just say I’m so impressed with the youths I see who are politically active? Well spoken, intelligent, informed – Spazeboy and Matt O. immediately leap to mind. Keep on, we need you badly.
It’s unbelievable to me that Dems are taking this approach from the Rethug playbook. It’s just wrong.
I will try to respond to the comments addressed to me in this thread as soon as possible.

oh, and Hi Amy!
I just left a voice message on Clinton’s comment line. Also, you can send an email to: clintonfoundation.org.
I referenced the fact that the whole sorry episode is outlined on Huffington Post, as well as Spaze’s blog. I’m sure they’re aware of HuffPost and perhaps they will take a look.
I told them this reflects very, very badly on Clinton, as both people who were turned away are democrats, and Spaze is a CT resident and although he is a Lamont supporter, he is a democrat and had the right to be there.
I wrote to Hillary when she was the first lady and I get a handwritten note mailed back to me. It was right after Monica was outed.
Monica was OUTED?

Thank you very much for your comments. Since my mother and father divorced when I was three (to digress, I started reading then, if not the year before), I don’t remember seeing him, but I have read and heard a lot about him through the years – and in recent years, I have become better acquainted with some of his grandparents, great-grandparents, and so on, through books about him and through genealogical resources.

I appreciate your comments very much. There’s more to add: his father’s (one of my great-grandfathers after whom I was named) artistic career as well as the accomplishments of some of my patrilineal ancestors and relatives.
Jane-
Oodles and oodles (and poodles and poodles) of happy birthday wishes to you!
Happy Birthday, Jane.
Dear Jane, Just made a small contribution to the Ned Lamont campaign in honor of your birthday. You and Christy and all are wonderful. Even though you distract me from my reading and writing.
Best wishes.

Jane,
Many of us use the occasion of our birthday to look back over the past year and assess what we have done or not done and see if we have hit our goal markers.
As you look back over this past year, you should be proud of your accomplishments. You nad Christy started something that especailly in this past year has become something greater than the sum of its many parts.
Few are capbale od such acts of creative synthesis. Thank you and congratulations.
And the picture of Fionna is just a perfect birthday card, isn’t it?
Happy Birthday Jane!

Many happy returns of the day, Jane.
Happy birthday!
And….what exactly is the ‘Lord’s work’?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE
Keep up the good work up there in my former home state. So you got kicked out of Facist Joe’s sorry excuse for a campaign rally? Don’t worry, you probably didn’t miss much, other than Joementum’s whiny little speeches. I wish I could live up there again just so I could vote against Joe again, as I did in 1988. Ah, if wishes were horses….
HB(belated) Jane
I popped in and left a message however it seems as if the idiots that be, didn’t want it to go through.
BTW:
I Cleaned up at poker last night with a group of good freinds, and whilst travelling to San Diego, I noticed two fires in Camp Pendelton.(I have never seen that in my many, many travels betwixt the Orange Curtain, and SD)
Happy Birthday Jane!
