[…] Two questions that come to mind are; do Rep. Carter’s handlers trust him and his slippery tongue on stage with this “tough-as-nails” prosecutor and how bad are his poll numbers looking? And judging from what happened to Ralph Reed this week any moralizing candidate that isn’t so moral is probably, at the least, a little on edge.

Here’s another way to frame the Republican Rubber Stamp Corruption Machine: use tactic #9 from the TOP TEN TOOLS TO TOPPLE THEOCRATIC/CORPORATIST TYRANNY found at miniprotests.com.

9) POPULARIZE THE TERM FTR: Final Term Republican: Use this term as a brand on Republicans who never stray from voting party lines, ignoring their conscience and constituents. Their careers will be sucked down the drain in the GOP Whirlpool of Lies. I also like the similarity to FDR to make it an even more disdainful label to them.

They need to know that WE KNOW and their careers are going by way of the dodo bird at their next election if not sooner. By putting the term FTR out there, making it part of the liberal lexicon, maybe we can scare Senator Lyallday into breaking ranks.

Call them up and tell them directly. Say, “You know that your voting record and statements on issues insure that you’ll be an FTR, right? Since congress won’t do it, oversight will come from the voters, and we see the damage your hard-right doctrines do every day. If you never break ranks, you’re destined to be a Final Term Republican.”

Dial ‘em up. Give ‘em that ominous feeling of career implosion.

It was a positive, hopeful campaign about the issues, about fiscal responsibility, about improving our schools through charters and choice, and about strengthening our values,” Reed said.

Through no fault of my own, I got on the Reed campaign email list. I’d say that, discounting Ralph’s reports from the campaign trail, about 50% of the messages were attacks on his opponent. I guess that’s what passes for “positive” and “hopeful” in politics these days.

I am profoundly disturbed by this picture of Ralph Reed. What message is Mr. Reed communicating by wearing Howdy Doody cowboy boots against the backdrop of Old Glory? What hides behind that sly smile on Mr. Reed’s boyish kisser? Is he laughing inside, thinking ‘How gay is this? Am I actually getting away with it? Damn, I wish I’d brought the hat!’

My head hurts.

I am a proud Democratic Georgia voter.

Yesterday, for the first time in 30 years of voting, I held my nose and requested a Republican ballot.

Solely for the opportunity to vote AGAINST Ralph Reed.

I convinced my adult son to do so as well.

We will not abide a Christian Reich.

ironranger: I’ve heard Cornyn speak twice. I wasn’t impressed, and neither were the Republicans I was with. The guy comes off as an empty suit; not terribly bright and lacking belief in much of anything besides what will move him up the ladder in the Texas GOP.

Christy: You state that Native American tribes are “thinking of suing” Ralph Reed. They’re no longer just thinking; he’s already been sued by the Alabama-Coushatta tribe of Texas.

immanetize: Cornyn much less than meets the eye…from what I’ve seen of him, I am so not shocked. I am still puzzled that real Texans would vote for him or is it mainly the country club crowd? Up north, regular country, small town folk are not impressed with putting on the dog people who are totally impressed with themselves. A dry comment spoken about a new all flash, no substance resident, “Now, there’s a real ASSet to the community.” But I guess that is the mystery about the whole country, voting against what your bs detector is trying to tell you.
DC is infested with yeehaw yahoos.
