When Christy Harden said Bush was not at a Sigma Chi kegger I don’t believe that she meant Bush had ever been a member of Sigma Chi. This was obviously meant figuratively. If she had said it was not an Animal House party would you have thought that she meant Bush co-stared with John Belushi?

The folks over at AP may need a lesson on sarcasm, but I am very glad that distinction was made. My beloved Sigma Chi Fraternity broke away from Delta Kappa Epsilon back in 1855.

My question: how did the founders of Sigma Chi know that a DKE would be the biggest stooge to ever sit in the Oval Office?

Apparently the news people at AOL news have no sense of humor:

A comment made by Christy Harden Smith on this blog wrote in reply to the Bush incident, “This isn’t a Sigma Chi kegger, it’s the G-8 summit.”

In a reply to the comment, a reporter from the associated press on the AOL online news page said, “Bush was actually in Delta Kappa Epsilon. Another Web 2.0 truism: Blogs are not always friendly with the facts.”

Okay, I guess Captain Obvious better teach the good folks at AP a lesson on sarcasm.

Many of these explanations for Bush’s behavior (sexual dominance, ADD, drug/alcohol abuse) may be at work here but the underlying reason Bush acts the way he does isn’t nearly so benign. Most mental health professionals will tell you that disregard for personal space of others in an intrusive and persistent way is one indicator of a criminal personality. That would be someone who feels free to disregard laws and all standards of morality — need I say more?
