I am hoping that all you clever people, are writing letters to editors with your comments. The Hartford Courant, the CT. Post, etc. We need to get out the message to Democratic voters, ‘if Republicans are backing Joe, what does that say about him’!

Also, calling into shows like Colin & Bruce.

In an explosive report tonight, top House Democrats discovered provisions in the controversial Oman Free Trade Agreement that would permit foreign ownership of U.S. ports and other key national security assets. Three Democrats and one Republican held an emergency press conference today to expose the provisions just before the House is scheduled to vote on the Oman pact on Thursday. As Reuters reports in the story attached, “Rep. John Murtha, a Pennsylvania Democrat who serves on the House Defense Appropriations subcommittee, said the pact would allow companies such as Dubai Ports World to acquire U.S. port operations by establishing a shell company in Oman.” Those provisions might also allow foreign ownership of other key national security assets, considering just after the recent Dubai Ports controversy, that country went ahead with plans to purchase a major U.S. defense contractor.
Last month, lawmakers from both parties in the U.S. Senate joined hands to pass the Oman Free Trade Agreement - a pact being pushed aggressively by the Bush administration and its largest corporate donors. Lawmakers ignored major labor, human rights and environmental objections to the pact put forward by more than 400 union, religious and consumer groups.

Among those voting for the pact in the Senate were Mike DeWine (R-OH) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT), two Senators facing tough re-election bids who could face renewed criticism in their home states that they have sold out their constituents.

Re joining the conversation, I think what did it for some of us was the immediate shift from that we made her sad and we were G-d fascists. Nice juxtaposition. It looked like right out of the Concern Cookbook.

I have often stood up for new people, iirc even our punaise got a bit of a bruising when he first came on. But this just felt too phony.

Scarecrow — the moderators aren’t always on duty. If April had tried to start with an attempt at joining the conversation, rather than an attack on us fascist FDLers, I suspect he/she would have gotten a different response. In fact I’m sure of it. If April is serious (if verbally challenged) he/she can come back.

Reed’s prospects look not so good. He is inching a bit closer, but it is still 55 - 45% against him now with 30% reporting.

Several of the large Ga counties only have a few of their precincts reporting, but the ones that do have Reed getting the minority of the vote.

Marshall, TX isn’t far from Shreveport, LA if that helps. It’s south of Texarkana on HWY 59, but I-20 runs through it via Tyler (The crazy-ass Florida of Texas) on its way from Midland-Odessa to, um, Atlanta?

Of note are the Christmas lights at the appropriate time of the year. Everything is covered in lights.

Also famous for the Marshall Pottery, which makes those crocks that you use for dog bowls and eggnog containers, or at least we do. :)
