Ughh. Sean Smith is truly repulsive. With friends like that, is it any wonder so many people don’t want to hold hands with Lieberman anymore? I think the Lieberman strategy is to cynically and dishonestly harp on some phantom like “weakness” of the Lamont campaign in order to distract from critical questions like the war, or Lieberman’s record on health care etc. The whole tax thing is a bad fight because as Tom Swan points out, there are probably waaay to many interesting skeletons in Lieebrman’s closet.

Throwing Lieberman under the bus

snip

Lieberman, who is potentially being blogged out of his seat (me: bbwwwaaahhhhh), has been at the forefront of what Democrats have pointed to as their insular wedge issue: all things Iraq.

As a said on another site regarding Lieberman’s patheticness:

Someone needs to tell him there is no crying in primaries.

There’s no crying in baseball and no crying in primaries.

At one point Smith says something about not looking “a day” past the primary. Interesting…considering they’ve formed THEIR OWN PARTY and have announced they will RUN ANYWAY if they lose the primary! Seems like all Jumpin’ Joe is thinking about are the days after the primary.

A question
If lieberman loses the primary and then defeats the Democratic candinate in the general does he retain his seniority in the Senate Democratic Caucaus??

I realize that in cases where an individual is courted to switch party’s keeping his seniority is often an carrot ( i.e. Jeffords) and in cases where an individual maintains his independence while caucausing with the Democrats but where an individual specifically bolts from the party should he have the right to expect to maintain his Seniority.

I believe that this is another issue where people should be pressuring the D’s? A statement from the D’s caucaus that they will strip him of his seniority if he runs and wins as an independent would damage him in the general election.

This would also help to create and maintain party unity. To reward lieberman with a committee chairmanship after he bolts from the party is absurd.

I also realize that it is unlikely considering the hacks who are running the Senate caucaus but it is another front to open in this battle.

Jane/Christy

Was at a meeting with Durbin this morning and asked him if he would support Lamont if he beat NoMoJoe in the primary. Before I reveal his answer I need to correspond with you concerning something personal as applies to this matter.

Please e-mail me for discussion.
