No shit- Just as soon as I got to the last comment, who calls me? NARAL. I told the rep that I would no longer be contributing because of this endorsement. Her exact words, IN DEFENSE of the endorsement: “If you cross people who support you, they will stop supporting you”. My response? “You took the words right out of my mouth”. Politics over the realities of womens’ lives. Sickening.

The simple truth is that these folks seem content to get invited to Washington cocktail parties and lap up the lip-service that is paid to them. They don’t have the self-discipline or guts to remind the Democratic establishment that their issues require attention.

Political alliances should always be conditional. If the Party Bosses insist on backing Lieberman, then the Party does not deserve support. It’s that simple.

I’m sorry, but using your “eyes on the prize” formula doesn’t make one bit of sense to me. How is having a Democrat who votes like, speaks like, sounds like, is corrupt like, a Republican conservative any different from the status quo?

By your logic I should be giving my hard-earned money to any and all organization that label themselves “progressive” no matter what they actually do with the money.

Speaking only for myself, it is not the single-issue, single-instance screw-ups that have pissed me off and sent me on a tear. It’s the consistent selling-out of progressive principles and ideals in the name of triangulation and moving to the non-existent center.

Why the hell does Barak Obama feel it is important to woo evangelical xtians instead of union members, LGBT Americans, pro-choice voters, or any other of the longstanding base of the Democratic party.

I’m tired as hell of being sold down the river and being told “in the nebulous future we will get around to doing progressive things AFTER we turn into Republican-lite politicos and WIN.” Problem is, after they win they DON’T change a damn thing and, if anything, end up turning more conservative.

I, for one, have had it. No more money, no more votes, and no more campaigning my ass for ANY politician who is willing to pass such abominations as the Defense of Marriage act, No Child Left Behind, the Patriot Act, the Bankruptcy bill, the Medicaid Drug fiasco, ad nauseum. None of which lacked strong “moderate” Democratic support and votes.

The same goes double for those organization whose hypocrisy knows no bounds as they beg for my money while looking the other way at atrocities in Washington, DC enabled and, too often, supported by OUR side.

I have a right, an obligation, and a impetus to
actually vote my conscience and to support candidates who actually share my views, goals, and desires, not because they have a damn (D) after their name. Peace.

1. Stopping your support of NARAL (or any other org that disappointed you on one
single issue) doesn’t send the right message. NARAL endorses 109 candidates other
than Lieberman. So you’re punishing up to 109 campaigns that you probably support
in order to chastise a single-issue PAC.

NARAL, because it is a single-issue org, does not factor in Lieberman’s record on
anything other than Choice, which aside from the ’short ride’ controversey, is
solid. Nor do they care about his rapport among democrats, since NARAL is
bipartisan and endorses pro-choice GOP candidates, too.

2. Conservative bloggers have made a great point recently: While the right spends
time blogging about follies of the left, the left is spending time blogging half
about the follies of the right, and half about the left.

Criticism is definitely healthy, but how awful is Joe Lieberman, anyway? Surely
he’s preferable to the eventual republican opponent. I’m just saying, keep your
eyes on the prize – progressive control of the House and Senate.

Don’t waste time in-fighting when there’s a greater battle to be won, that’s all I’m
saying. NARAL is there to help, so don’t turn your back on their whole effort just
because they supported a couple guys you didn’t. Ceasing your support of them
ultimately serves the GOP.

What maddens me is that these f*ckers still send me requests for money and still call me seeking donations. This in spite of the fact that every time they send me a letter seeking money I send them a letter explaining that I wont give them anything until they publicly disavow Chaffee, Snowe, Lieberman, and all other senators that voted for cloture on Alito.

I just received a phonecall from NARAL last week seeking money! Unfortunately at the time I didn’t have time to express my displeasure with them and explain the situation so all I could do was interrupt the schpiel with a “Sorry, no”, and a hangup. Next time…

NARAL and the rest of them can go to hell.
