Ned Lamont’s latest campaign ad. Ned’s wife Annie looking awfully cute.
Meanwhile, Holy Joe’s new party is modestly going to be called "Connecticut for Lieberman." WCBN has a great clip of the non-Biden event in Stamford (scroll down to "Lieberman Files Papers Seeking New Party"), including Maura’s respectful challenge (where she says she will support Lieberman if he wins the primary). And Edward Anderson speaks for many Connecticut voters:
Brian Burnell: Edward Anderson is a long-time Democrat who says he just doesn’t buy Lieberman’s excuse that he votes with the Democrats 90% of the time.
Edward Anderson: Joe is like saying I only cheat on my wife once a month, I’m basically a good husband. But when push comes to shove, he’s out there cheating. And a lot of us don’t trust him. Let me tell you, he’s earned the Republican’s respect for a reason. Because he sells us out when it matters.
Amen to that.
Update: Spazeboy has a good video up of Ned tonight talking about net neutrality.
Update #2: Puppethead, in the comments: "Joe should have called it the ‘Kiss My Ring’ Party."

Ned!
Rootz!
Heh.
I win!
Damn you Pach…I coulda been a contender. I’m feeling a little joey now….
I never do that. Except I just did.
That’s Ned’s real wife? Ned for President!!
http://www.WhoIsJoeLieberman.com
I really enjoy the humor of the Lamont ad campaign. He gained a huge boost from the debate and with Lieberman on camera with his “I’m gonna run anyway, Nya Nya…” came off as pathetic.
This is going to be an interesting race going into November.
50 Ways to Dump the Dubya
How do you get comment zero? That makes no sense.
Joe’s Personal ad: Closet Republican seeks party.
From out here in California, it looks as though Ned Lamont is running a strong campaign and doing great, and Lieberman is more or less falling apart.
Hey Jane…when you coming to Florida?
Oh Pach, YOU ARE DESTROYING THE INTEGRITY OF THE COMMENTS SECTION!!!
I never do that, either. But as long as you’re making an exception, what the hell.
ccmask, photo site recommendations downstairs.
If you’re just looking to display a single photo, I recommend imageshack.us – easy to use, no signup needed.
FITZ!!!
Lmao, Good on ‘ya Pach.As hard as you work around here, A first zero is well deserved.
We the undersigned are outraged at the Democrats who question Joe Lieberman’s bona fides as a true Democrat.

I know the CT Senate race is where my brain is focused lately, but in case anybody missed it, Paul Hackett threw his support to Sherrod Brown in Ohio today.
This is real good news for Brown and a shining example of what a real Democrat would do (hint, hint, HoJo).
That race is still tight and nothing could be better for women’s and civil rights, at least as far as the Senate is concerned, than to get that bottom-feeder DeWine out of office.
Jane, what the hell. Just this once. ROFL
EPU’d last thread
I just read Maura’s blog. Key quote:
He (Lieb) also mentioned that Congressman John Lewis was in Hartford today to support Congressman John Larsen and that Rep. Lewis was enthusiastically supporting him and said if he was a Connecticut Democrat, he would vote for Joe in the primary. It struck me as hilarious that, after praising himself effusively, Joe said he was far too modest to repeat all of the great things that Rep. Lewis said about him.
John Lewis is my rep. Unless there are two different “John Lewis’s” in the house, this just does not pass the smell test for me. Lewis has been opposed to the war in Iraq from the get. And, I find it hard to imagine him supporting Lieberman. I have emailed Lewis many times, always with support for what he has done. If this Lieb stuff is true, he is gonna get a non-supportive email on the issue, to say the least. But, before I do that I would like some additional confirmation as to the accuracy of this report.
==ps Lewis is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and a Co-Founder of the ‘Out of Iraq’ Caucus===
I’ve been offline all day and just found this in my email box. Factcheck.org has a report up.

Look, when is someone going to list the ten percent of Lieberman’s votes that were not in line with the Democratic caucus, or the majority of his caucus. If he is going to claim that those ten percent votes were of no consequence, they need to be listed, established, comprehended as to what they mean to the CT Democrats. For what reasons did he depart from his caucus? On what issues?
The John Lewis CT visit : NOT an endorsement ! http://www.nbc30.com/news/9493757/detail.html
I love this ad! Just call BS for what it is and stick to the issues. Think Holy Joe will go alongwith Lamont’s suggestion? I’m not holding my breath or anything…
So what exactly is the point of the “I’m Candidate X and I approve this message” campaign requirement if Lieberman can just say that about an ad that contains such lies? What are the repercussions? Hopefully at least the local press in Connecticut will expose him for endorsing dirty tricks.
Guess what Jane? I’m uploading the NECN clip to YouTube as I type this. I’ll send you an e-mail with the link.
Well,Ned’s ad is really warm, even without sound. I think my sound card is dead. I’ll take it to The Geek Squad at Best Buy tomorrow.
As for joementum he’s just a WATB.
That’s all.

OT-sorry.
DC Court rules on Jefferson evidence.
The seized items will not be returned, and the 45 day “cooling off period” Bush called for has expired. The investigation will now continue.
Thanks Eli!
Everybody have fun tonight.
Everybody wang chung tonight.
I hope that what I’m reading here at FDL is reflective of what is happening at the Democratic grassroots in Connecticut. Anyone with a real sense of what people are thinking?
M 19 — Lieberman threatened to cut off any state Dem who didn’t support him. He’s the machine boss in Connecticut. I’ve been trying to find that damn American Prospect story link, I’ve linked to it myself several times but now can’t locate it.
So, no surprise there.
Check out the two kids in the back at the end of Ned’s ad.

I would like to know how many of those 90% were after he voted *for* cloture. Or were votes that weren’t close.

I was just going to post that. Since FactCheck.org is “sorta” in the middle (though I get awfully PO’d at them frequently), hopefully some of the RW’ers will see it and think “Hmmmm…”
I also think it would be a good 15 sec ad that Ned could push front and center during this last month. “So, Joe, what else have you lied about?”
OT – A second member of embattled Republican Rep. Bob Ney’s staff has been subpoenaed to testify in the Justice Department’s investigation of influence-peddling in Congress.

Terre 36… I also think it would be a good 15 sec ad that Ned could push front and center during this last month. “So, Joe, what else have you lied about?”
Not Ned’s style.
Mine, though ;)

Ouch! Mr. Anderson, that’s gonna leave a mark . . .
*ilson- thanks for the link and for your earlier comment (last thread). If indeed Lieberman did say what Maura said he said re: Lewis’s support, then this is really *egregious* and Joe needs to be firmly trounced and shamed, and exposed on this *particular account* for the liar that he is. I hope someone who knows Maura can get more details about this episode, because imo it is a very important piece of news.

Let’s face it: democracy, real democracy, is awful scary. Joe shouldn’t leave the comforts of DC.
I mean, think of it–there must be hundreds of thousands of Lamont “plants” out there. Brrr.

When guerrillas learned of the rape, “they repressed their sighs to avoid news of the affair spreading but they swore to avenge their sister,” the council said on its usual website.
“Praise God, they captured two soldiers from the same division as this vile crusader. Here are the remains … to rejoice the hearts of the faithful,” the statement said.

Oh I gotta be a Senator
It’s what I’m meant to be
Even our fine President
Does not disagree
Some silly lefty bloggers
Are leading folks astray
And pushing for a Democrat
To take my job away
(chorus)
But it’s my seat dammit
I’ve had it 18 years
And if I don’t win the primary
(the way things now appear)
I’ll change my party status
Make an independent run
‘cause that asinine electorate
Thinks my time is done
Some may say that an election
Should decide the people’s choice
But an election that does not pick me
Will miss some people’s voice
So screw the Dem electorate
What the hell do they know
I know what is best for them
That’s why they call me “holy Joe”
(chorus)
And it’s my seat dammit
I’ve had it 18 years
And if I don’t win the primary
(the way things now appear)
I’ll change my party status
Make an independent run
‘cause that asinine electorate
Thinks my time is done
I’ll change my views on many things
To gain a few more votes
I’ve redefined myself more times
Than I can even quote
Liberal, moderate, conservative
It matters not, you see
As long as I can hold the post
That rightfully belongs to me
(chorus)
’cause it’s my seat dammit
I’ve had it 18 years
And if I don’t win the primary
(the way things now appear)
I’ll change my party status
Make an independent run
‘cause that asinine electorate
Thinks my time is done

High Ground, the owner of record of the nomorejoe.com website is a public relations, lobbying and campaign management firm based in Arizona. According to their “success stories” page, they campaigned for Fife Symington for governor (in the run-off) and for his re-election. According to Wikipedia, Symington was the Republican governor of the U.S. state of Arizona from 1991 until his resignation in 1997. He was indicted in 1996, and then in 1997 superseding indictment for False statements to federally insured financial institutions, wire fraud, attempted extortion, and false statements in bankruptcy proceeding, 18 U.S.C. 1014, 1343, 1951, 152, 2(a) and 2(b).

Gotta run the results of the Malkin Rap contest soon. We had some real good ‘uns.
I pulled Matt Taibbi’s Spanking The Donkey off the bookshelf today. I thought there was some great snark about Lieberman’s failed 2004 presidential run and, boy, is there ever.
Check out pages 75-84. Love the opening paragraph.
” I was in an anxious mood at this event. Only an out-of -state senator, I thought, would schedule a Town Hall meeting in New England during a Patriots game. I’d ducked out of the game at halftime to catch Liberman’s act, which I’d never seen in person before. I expected it to be a revolting display of saber-rattling and self-important bullshit. It would exceed my expectations.”

Ned at a bookstore today:
http://www.spazeboy.net/2006/0…..eutrality/
In New Mexico it is apparently against the law to run again for an office under any other party affiliation if one has already been eliminated in a primary race. So our hope to have another Secretary of State candidate will not happen from amongst the better candidates who were already eliminated in the primary.
I don’t know if it applies to federal races, but I think it does.
So the Joementum situation would be impossible in New Mexico. Which just goes to show that nothing has changed since Lew Wallace wrote something like “whatever works anyplace else will not work in New Mexico.”
Which does not mean we don’t have a Banana Republic here. Or that we don’t give “Banana Republic” a bad name. No matter how hard we try. And. We. Do.
Even the name of the “new” party is all about Joe – why not dispense withthe charade and call it “Lieberman for ME, ME, ME!” He could remind everyone that “There is an “I” in Lieberman and it’s MINE, MINE, MINE!!!!
Maybe it’s just me feeling snarky, but those two deep grooves that run from the corners of his mouth to his jawline make me think he’d look really special sittin’ on some other gasbag’s knee with a hand in his back workin’ his mouth. “Charley McCarthy – Meet Joey Lieberman!”
What a day it’s been.
Qing qing 52 — Taibbi’s evidently here in town.
Joe should have called it the “Kiss My Ring” Party.
Anne 62 — TRex does an awesome impression of Joe whining “But it’s MY seat, Ned!!!” I’m trying to get him to record it so we can send it to Sam Sedar.
Puppethead 64 — that’s update #2.
You’re most welcome, Jane.

Good one, Brownandserve!
About Joe’s claim of voting with Democrats 90 percent of the time–is this an overall 18 year record? How about since his buddy Bush came swaggerin’ in to town? I see claims like this during the election season and I immediately default into statistical schizophrenia. I have not the time, nor the research knowledge to determine the “truthiness” of this statement, only hunches.
Still, it is the rhetoric of damaging Democrats that has brought about this challenge. He claims to be someone who can reach across the isle to “get things done.” Like Alito? And enabling profiteering by the manufacturers of mechanized doom? Still, I wish some clever researcher with some time could give a breakdown on Senator Straddle into splitsville’s Dem support–entire history as opposed to lately. Has he drifted?
Late-Night’s up.
Ot, But can Darkblack be persuaded to do a ‘Boss Hog’ piece? This one is screaming for a good ‘manipulation’.
Powerful GOP Congressman defies Bush
RAW STORY
Published: Monday July 10, 2006
Print This | Email This
According to a story in Tuesday’s New York Times, Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.), the powerful chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is the primary impediment to George W. Bush’s plans for immigration reform, Raw Story has learned.
The Times says of him, “Sensenbrenner, 63, can be neutrally described as a Washington piece of work — a big-bellied curmudgeon with a taste for old Caddies, pontoon boats and enormous cigars.
The congressman, described even by his friends as “prickly,” “cantankerous” and “unpleasant,” has no tolerance for illegal immigrants. He even uses a do-it-yourself carwash rather than risk having his Cadillac cleaned by someone of uncertain national origin. And he has made clear his refusal to compromise with the Senate’s and the president’s plan to offer immigrants a path to citizenship.
Disclaimer: Edited for sensitivity for a certain Blogger whom I admire.
Still, it is the rhetoric of damaging Democrats that has brought about this challenge. He claims to be someone who can reach across the isle to “get things done.”
Too bad that seems to be the only direction he reaches.
On the John Lewis news, WTNH is reporting that Lewis HAS endorsed Lieberman, as much as I wish this were not true:
While he’s in town, Lewis is voicing support for Lieberman in the upcoming August 8th Democratic primary. Lewis says Lieberman is a long-time friend, someone who took a personal risk during the civil rights movement to register southern blacks to vote.
Lewis is predicting Lieberman will defeat Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont.

Hey all,
Driving home tonite came across Matt Stoller (mydd.com) on PRI Radio, extended segment about Lamont/Lieberman and was VERY good.
Seems like the other commenters on PRI were understanding that Joe “cheats” when it matters, and that we have many many reasons for campaigning against him. Someone referred to Iraq as “the straw” and catalogued a history of “cheating” by Joe going back to Lewinsky.
Was better than anything I’d seen heard about the race so far in the traditional media.
Sorry no link.
A site to check votes. A zip code is needed. A library of votes, lots of info.

That was a great ad. There is no way in hell Lieberman’s campaign will be able to touch it. This almost (but not quite – I’ve seen it in the winter) makes me wish I lived there so I could vote for Lamont.
devilbush @ 8:59PM…
Almost my thoughts exactly. Actually, I was thinking, “Why couldn’t Ned Lamont be running against Dianne Feinstein so that he would be my Senator in November 2006?!”
I LOVE that ad!
Puppethead, did you swing that from my post earlier today where I wrote:

Wow. Is that brunette his daughter? Congrats Ned!

Late in the game- re: my 19 and Jane’s 31. My 19 had to do with John Lewis, and how Lieberman may have used/ misused his comments. I still think that is worth following up. Although it is important to know about Joe’s threat to cut off funding for state Dems who don’t support him, *very important*, John Lewis is not a CT rep. So, obviously, I have missed something in Jane’s 31. John Lewis is from a state not CT, and for the whole time I’ve been in his district, ballots appear with him as the only candidate for the House seat. Under “D”. Suffice it to say, he doesn’t need Joe’s money, or anyone else’s. So, perhaps I’ve missed something re: 31?
Stephen Parrish CPA at #54 (or any other kind techno-literate people) — While you’re helping zennurse, maybe you could also help a late-blooming Luddite like me.
I’ve been finding it impossible to watch these wonderful commercials and music videos on YouTube. Before, it was because I didn’t have the sound on. Finally, after weeks of watching Billie Holliday sing silently, I accidentally touched the sound arrow on the bottom and — voila, I could suddenly hear!
Now, it’s become even more infuriating. I press the button to watch (and hear) and all I get is a black screen with the word “LOADING” staring at me. I look at the bottom of the screen and it says “44 out of 45″ or “53 out of 54″ or “36 out of 37 items”. Tantalizingly close, but no cigar or video. Always one “error” away.
I just went to the official “Ned Lamont” site and was able to watch “Messy Desk” in both Quicktime and Windows, but YouTube still stubbornly persists in shutting me out now.
What’s going on with me or my iMac? I’m using Safari at OS 10.39. Bwaaaa! Help!

Thanks,Stephen, you always come to my rescue. My computer is less than a year old, it’s a Compaq V2000 laptop. It has been silent for 24 hours, no audio on programs and sites U mentioned and no computer sounds either, I use Windows xp and Firefox for a browser, Tonight I tried to test it through the Windows Help Section and no .wav files would work. The computer tells me the programs are running without a problem. I also cleared my computer, browser and cookies as ccmask suggested. I’m leaving this here.
If you have thoughts,I’m ready to try them.
Thanks

Maura 77 (or # thereabouts) thank you for the update. The article was different at my last read. John Lewis will be hearing from me. I find his endorsement for Lieberman very unsettling, to say the least. Perhaps he and Maxine Waters need to have a chat.
The new party name is exactly what is wrong with Leiberman. Shouldn’t it be Leiberman for Connecticut? There’s a new slogan in this for Ned.
The name that I think best fits the situation is BIKKURI DONKEY (surprised donkey in Japanese)
I love this ad! NED!
I’m turning my attention to Mary Jo Kilroy here in Central Ohio. I’ll never forget my 6 hours in line (in the rain) to vote on one of two machines, in our urban, very blue, precinct.
