I’ll be on the air today with the fabulous Colin McEnroe and Bruce Stevens on local CBS radio at 4:30 pm EDT/1:30 pm PDT. Their knowledge of the local political scene in general and the dynamics Lieberman/Lamont race specifically is formidable. You can stream the show here.
I’m sure we’ll have much fun at the expense of UltraBright Biden, who hopes to become President of the United States sans the ability to read a train schedule. Holy Joe evidently snuck in the back door to the RSVP-only event to which the attendance was, shall we say, sparse. I guess he’s not anxious for any more messy encounters with local fascists voters.
Neither, it appears, are his buddies in the Incumbency Protection Club.

That bumper sticker is amazingly good. Everytime I look at it, a new interpretation comes to mind. I love it!
Jane — thanks for heads up on your appearance.
OT but the Bush Admin just made the state secrets argument to stop one of the suits against the NSA programs.

I think when they said backers, They meant folks like Comey, and Kelly and McCarthy and
like us.
atrios linked to CTblog; it seems biden would’ve been supporter #26 or so if he had showed up. counting paid vols for HoJo, and you’re up to a whopping 50 people at this rally.
so yeah…i’m sure it was a problem with the trains. mebbe biden should go to a rave or something, where time matters less.
Hi Jane! Didja see that Howie linked to Arianna’s piece from the other day and featured your brilliance: ‘the incumbency protection racket’?
did my heart good to see it getting press!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..00587.html
Jane – I double-dare you to front page darkblack’s Liebermankini
… :~)
(major gross-out warning!)
lhp, here’s Reuters on the Detroit NSA developments.
According to ConnecticutBLOG:
* Reporters from Stamford Advocate, New York Times, and all several television stations were present and caught Lieberman in an “uncomfortable” moment as he was grilled by an Irish-American woman who was able to get into the event (she’ll have a posting on her encounter later).
What happened?
veruca, the woman will be writing on the blog about it later.
scarecrow 8 – I left the links in the thread you wanted them for.
The article you linked is, IMO, the case to watch for now. I wish I had kept closer track on all of the, but this is the oral argument for the Motion to Dismiss that was filed earlier.
WHat makes THIS case so interesting is that the plaintiffs had filed, before the Motion to Dismiss, a MOtion for Summary Judgement on certain items. GOV dillied and dallied (maybe they missed a train?) and, while they filed their Motion to Dismiss, they never really got around to filing a RESPONSE to the Motion for Summary Judgement and the Judge set oral argument.
IIRC, they then scurried for the response and attended oral argument, and they are pressing the state secrets part pretty hot and heavy, but this particular Judge, sitting in Judge Keith’s old stomping grounds, seems a little less taken by the need for Secret if the only down side is embarassing underarm circles. And she seemed engaged by the Summary Judgement arguments, which relied on all public and publicized info. Her main concern seemed to be standing.
So we’ll see.
Biden at a rave . . . lud, if that ain’t a picture, chicago dyke.
jane thanks for the CBS radio link. can’t wait to read more about today’s events in stamford…
Biden thinks a rave is his autobiography
chicago dyke @ 1:13PM
I know… I am just a bit of a Gladys Kravitz with instant gratification issues.
I’m wondering if Lieberman became a dead man walking over the weekend, and that’s why Biden missed the train. I wouldn’t put it past the “Me First” Gang from DC to distance themselves from Lieberman all of a sudden if they got wind of some polling showing he’s a goner. Or maybe it’s been the vocal support of Pious Joe by the right wing noisemakers that’s scaring off those who still wear the name of Democrat.
PLEASE no Lieberkini except in the privacy of our own links.
Even then, only with huge warnings. LOL
forgive me…this is great…mwahhhhhahahaha
http://www.newsday.com/news/op…..6650.flash
lotus @ 17- you know why i said that, right? biden thought it was really important a few years back to spend our precious legislative time, money and efforts crafting an anti-rave bill, which had all kinds of ludicrous provisions. it’s not like cops aren’t hard on kids using drugs as it is, but biden thought ravers deserved special attention. fucknut.
Mary — thanks much for that effort. Just so everyone knows:
The series of excellent posts Mary made in explaining the background, context, meaning of the Supreme Court’s decision Hamdan and related cases are now all cross linked at the end of Christy’s fine thread this a.m. called “A Matter of Ethics.” Anytime you need to know what happened in these cases, and what it means, look there first.
And thanks for the update on the NSA case/background. I recall your comments earlier on that one.
Didn’t know that, cd — but ya just gave me a major giggle.
Which is more than I can say for WTIC — got a pop-up window for the streaming, but no way to start it.

scarecrow: Re: NSA
EPU’d:
Re: NSA Wiretap Suit
Reuters: “In both cases, the Bush administration has invoked a legal doctrine known as the “state-secrets privilege’’ that it has used to head off other court action spy programs.”
When the intelligence agencies brief a few selected members of the intelligence committees in Congress, the senators and representatives are told it is against the law for them to talk to others about what they learn.
So we can’t (according to the administration) proceed with legal action, and we can’t even tell the full membership of Congress what the government is doing so they could exercise some oversight, if they even wanted to.
How the hell are the people of the United States supposed to have any oversight or accountability of our intelligence activities? Whatever happened to democracy?
It seems like the courts ought to be able to establish some kind of procedure that would allow the necessary information to be viewed by the judge and/or jury without making it public generally. Otherwise, we will have the executive branch exercising raw, unchecked power. It could act in direct violation of law with no accountability.
Oh, I guess we already have that.

Lotus, give it a second. The sound loads after a pause.
LindyH — that one needs to be sent to Countdown.
Well, I’m thanking JWR scarecrow. I had already gong hunting for them, but JWR’s faster, better, better linker than me. *g*
Jenny — still bupkes.
Hogan rules the search was Constitutional wrt to Jefferson’s offices.
neurophius — like Catch 22? It is maddening. One just hopes some judge has the courage to say, “enough” on the misuse of this “defense.” Mary suggests this judge may be the one, and I hope she’s right. I’m just glad that judge now has the Supreme Court’s ruling in Hamdan for moral courage, if not precedent.
Lotus,
hmm. But you got the pop-up window, yes? So you’re almost there. Maybe try playing with enabling/disabling your pop-ups? I have a newish Mac and am using Tiger. Wish I knew more to help!
Lotus at 13
Thanks. I saw that ealier today. They pulled the same crap in SDNY. I forget who their judge was… was it Denny Chin?
I can’t blame Biden. The thought of doing the elephant walk with HoJo in his Lieberkini would overwhelm all senses.
Mary, JWR — good people do good things. Thanks to both.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm Chicken.

same bupkes here, lotus.
How to disengage the blocker?
Dang, angie!

She’s a star!
Radio guys talking about job cuts at Electric Boat in CT. Doesn’t sound good for Joe, who bragged at the debate about all the jobs he had brought to CT.
No word from Jane yet–just two guys talking.
They just mentioned Jane.
Lotus – see the little bullet-shaped thing next to the speaker icon? If you click in it, it raises and lowers the volume.
And see the black strip directly at the bottom of the little window (above the volume meter)? If it says, in green type, “playing XXbits per minute” then you just need to raise the volume.
Cujo359 — did you post that link because the link I provided requires registration? If so, I’m sorry to all, I didn’t realize that. (I probably am registered, so never noticed)
Mebbe some kind soul will blog it fer us, ange.

Under your preferences it has an option for “block pop-up windows”. Weirdly, mine is checked, which means they are blocked. And still I get the window and the stream.
Well, they just said Jane is stuck in traffic and these guys are not the best, so you’re not missing anything yet.
Colin rips Joe a new one. Mwahaha!
Jane are you getting lost?
Yes, I see all that, Anne, but they’re dead — not clickable.

Well, at the moment, Jane is stuck in traffic and the two guys are now doing fashion commentary…
darkblack – I’m like shooken jello over the thought of edible flavored Lieberkini.
I may have strained a muscle over my ribcage. Whether from stifled laughter or wretching, I’m not sure. But my lawyer will be in touch with you.
If he shows up in a mankini – he’s fired.
Ah well, thanks for everybody’s efforts and commiseration. If Jane doesn’t make it, I swear that angie and I ain’t acting up!
Radio guys chatting about swimsuits. Not sure whether they mentioned the mankini.
I unblocked my pop-up blocker and got “page not found” when I clicked the “listen” link.
scarecrow @ 1:44 pm (#60) – Yes, that’s why. I could have gone to BugMeNot and gotten a login to use, but since it’s a Reuters story, I figured I’d just reward Yahoo for not requiring registration, instead.
Mary at 1:30 pm and scarecrow – ‘twarn’t nothin’. I bookmarked all those links for my own edification. PS. If anyone else is interested, I posted them here.

“President Bush likely will cast the first veto of his presidency if the Senate, as expected, passes legislation to expand federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research, White House aide Karl Rove said Monday. “The president is emphatic about this,” Rove said in a meeting with the editorial board of The DENVER POST. The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed the legislation, co-sponsored by Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., and Rep. Mike Castle, R-Del. If the Senate approves the bill this month it would go to the president’s desk. “It is something we would, frankly, like to avoid,” Rove said

speaking of speeding – Biden could have driven fast to CT in safety; he’s his very own self-contained airbag.
They’re asking Jane why she is there–is she covering it as a supporter or a reporter–she says she’s covering it as a blogger, she supports Ned.
What got Jane’s attention about the race?
Alito.
bwahaha, punaise.
Talking about supreme court–”we’re one justice away from going over the edge.”
Jane talking about the Alito cloture vote and the Gang of 14; one justice away from going over the edge.

Talking about the car hitting Lamont people. Jane–no, I was not in danger in New London.
fake bumper stickers mentioned. Now going to news and commercials – and I have to head out.
no detail about bumper stickers just joking about the heavy traffic.
Internet Explorer works. Mozilla doesn’t.
EdSchultz just said he invited Lamont last week and Lamont had “no time for us”. I’ll bet that’s not how they put it; Big Ed is a big Leiberman jock strap. However, he is re-extending the invitation to come on anytime.
Traffic–weather–PSA–
Great job, y’all — thanks and keep it up.
News now-
Electric Boat is facing cutbacks…
Firefox works — I’m using it and listening
Good for Jane, mentioning Alito first. As foolish as it is to say this race is “just” about the war, as if that’s nothing to get all excited about, it isn’t just about the war.
That Electric Boat job cutback may hurt Joe.
Good on Maura — thanks, CT Bob.
(just my opinion)
news lieb meets with black civil rights leaders in desperate bid to show he is the real democrat. ok i stretched that a wee bit.

News just in–Joe announces he has filed paperwork to run as an independent.

imagine Lieberman rapping like Warren Beatty in Bullworth
Has everyone seen Ned’s new ad??
SPEW WARNING:
http://nedlamont.com/blog/559/…..messy-desk
Congressman John Lewis was on talking about peace and nonviolence, nary an endorsement of Holy Joe.
it’s definitively Cut’n Run Joe … he announced he;s going to do the petitions
neurophius @ 2:03 pm (#120) – That Electric Boat job cutback may hurt Joe.
Hard to say. Would the new guy be able to reach across the aisle and grab that pork? How this plays probably will depend on how successful Lieberman is seen as being in that department.
I think it’s a sports segment (Zildane head butt stuff, what else?) coming up next.
anybody sense a Joe thread coming up soon?
Cujo
It undercuts Joe’s bragging about everything he has done for Connecticut and taking the credit for jobs created.
MB #113:
I caught the intro to Fatheadie’s show today. He claimed that bloggers’ embrace of Lamont is all about payback to Joe for taking down Howard Dean in Iowa two years ago. And, oh yeah, the war.
Mostly, Fatheadie thinks he’s got himself a ratings winner along with pimping Joe for his DLC pals.
Fat Headie can void up a rope. Or go on a diet, whichever’s easier for him.
Then his political execution is set for August 8. RIP, Sen. JoHo.
OK, sound off, I can’t take the sports stuff. :)
al-Scooter
I’m glad they gave Jane a chance to say in her own words why she is interested in the race–Alito vote (it’s not just about the war–ed.)
I’m curious if Lieberman said he approved the ad in the commercial with the fake bumper sticker. If so, how does he reconcile blatant lying with his self-professed piety?
By the way, everyone needs to keep in mind that Ed Schultz is on the payroll of the incumbency. He started his show with money from Democratic senators. Randi Rhodes made a big deal out of turning it down, so she wouldn’t have to answer to anyone. Apparently Schultz has to cater to his masters. Of course he’s going to trash Lamont and prop up Joebaby.
am radio is sooooooooooooooo tedious
the Lamont ad is cute – Ned’s got a sense of humor
Ned’s ad is pretty funny. The karaoke singer bit caught me.
Don’t know if they are done with Jane yet.
Nifty ad — even better boyish grin!
This thing they’ve got goin’ on with the “backgrounders” following up every ” … and I approved this message” is sweeeet.
“His coffee’s really not that bad!”
Too bad for Joey, the Peace Train’s left the station. He’s still standing on the platform, waving his fist at the conductor.
No they said that Jane would be back a little later.
they said they would get back to jane
Taking a coffee break at Ned’s, is she?
I would never listen to this kind of radio show if I didn’t have a good reason (like Jane)–it’s pretty bad.
Jane is back.

Fake bumperstickers in a fake campaign for a fake liberal. How complicated does this have to get?
Turned it on &, in 5 minutes, off. LEAVE JANE, LEAVE NOW! There is nothing positive that can come from this, NOTHING!
I hope the Lamont folks get a look at Anne’s ad idea — a beauty, that is!
Sports talk?

Meanwhile, the Detroit NSA case is the one to watch because it is the one the administration is most likely to lose. The argument against the state secrets defense is that there is nothing that could possibly revealed that would be a secret because illegal acts cannot be secret. Nice.

Jane back
Immanetize -
Thanks! I didn’t watch but did hear about the head butt. I’ll go read…
Ooh, Jane’s back.
How will national party deal with Lieberman?
Jane: Knocking Chuck Schumer. Thinks he’s backed off lately.
national party view of lieb
schumer instead of electing dems his
job seems to be support incumbents
i think he’s backed off recently
not so much anon dscc statements of backing joe
thanks everyone!
viet dinh is trying like heck, with as much bushco earnestness as possible, to make the government’s case on Hardballs wrt NSA, etc.
Schumer head of DSCC, instead of electing Dems, thinks his job is to elect incumbents
Jane “Chuck Schumer controls Big Money in New York”
lotus 142 — boyish grin, but a bit bug-eyed when intense.
AND, I agree with your excellent “I approve” observation — said it a few days ago that I was just waiting for someone to make that rule into a working part of the message. Ned did it.
How much have you guys (bloggers) changed the paradigm?
schumer controls big $ in ny
campaign finance helped repub because they
had direct mail, dems had to switch over from
big donors
how much have ‘you guys’ changed the paradigm?
jane–you’re right, collaboration has really changed the dynamic, he couldn’t do want he wanted to do, go independent
Jane Bloggers have changed the dynamic for people like Schumer
bra-less hippies? I have never worn a bra, ever !
get out the vote question, has that changed?
jane–hard to know, plays out on local level.
we raise awareness and money, change the narrative.
Can bloggers mobilize a lot of people who otherwise might not vote?
Jane: I don’t think so.
LOL Jane just referred to the “Rush Limbaugh” droopy microphone.

Gee, that sounds like a terrible accident.
Jane’s down-to-earth, no b.s. style is great.
Imm -
I’ve never seen a head butt. Guess my luck’s about to change. :)
Today we are hearing terrible reports of the awful things that are happening in Iraq. Some of the reports by Nic Robertson on CNN are simply sickening. We’ve got to keep remembering why Lieberman needs to be retired. He’s the one in the U.S. Senate, along with John McCain, who was the most forceful in demanding that we go to war against Iraq. I pray that the good people of Connecticut will hold him accountable. A pink slip for Leiberman will send a message througout the Democratic Party.
news item about new party CT for Lieb
The question he asked about whether any of this will make a difference in getting out the vote, and/or raising the number of voters, is the question my local county chairman is interested in regarding the Spencer/Latham race here.
joe can now collect signatures for “CT for Lieberman” party
That does it–Lieberman is not a Democrat
(until now, he could at least argue that he was)
but I’m sure he won’t acknowledge that.
But he has officially created a third party.
Notice that it’s NOT “Lieberman for CT” . . .
it’s all about joe
No, it’s all about Joe.
MY party. MINE.
The state Dems should just call off this mooted primary.
It’s my seat.
Jenny FTB @ 188:
Head butt?

The Party of Egregious.
Hm.
The Egregious Party.
Choices.
“CT for Lieberman” party
Is sort of a clever move. It is obviously not a party, just a cult of personality (sadly lacking any personality). But it will force all the people who have benefitted from associateion with the Senator to put up or shut up.
It seems that someone who knows him well (Hillary? Schumer?) needs to have a come to Jesus discussion with him about how he stands to hurt the party and that if he tries to do that, how he will be bit back and bit back hard.
I wonder what Hadassah thinks about all this.
I think we can safely say that “Connecticut for Lieberman” is already an egregious party.
Lieberman said in the debate, “I’ve still got 6 good years in me.”
Fine, go spend them working for one of the industries you have carried legislative water for.
I mean, work for them on their payroll, and stop pretending to represent Connecticut.
Hadassah will probably loose her gig as a lobbyist for big pharma if joe looses
now Nader can come in and endorse Cut’n Run Joe !
neurophius @ 181 says:
“LOL Jane just referred to the “Rush Limbaugh” droopy microphone.”
Now dat is fucking funny!
That new Lamont ad is a classic Hillsman ad. As a Minnesotan who’s seen Hillsman’s Wellstone and Ventura campaigns I can see the similarities in tone.
Now that he’s created a third party, can the DSCC give him any more funds beginning right now?
OT;
Paul Hackett is on the radio saying that he called Sherrod Brown over the weekend and apologized for any past differences and offered his support in the Ohio Senate race.
He’s being very, very gracious and good of the party and the state and all that.
Lotus 194 –
That is so right on. Ned must capitalize on that:
Arm Manufacturers for Lieberman
Drug Makers for Lieberman
Dogs for Lieberman,
Republicans for Lieberman,
Martians for Lieberman:
But what is Joe Lieberman for?

Oy, this station is from hunger! (an old saying of my dad’s). Is this one of those “give us 5 minutes we’ll give you the world” things?
darkblack – you funny!
Or, 203, I think it might have passed into “truly egregious” territory.

“Jane said, have you seen my wig around?

it’s all about turnout
Nader: it’s all about turnout. It’s going to be close. Now attacking Lieberman!
ayldt at 210 — Good for Hackett — the Dems have a real chance at defeating DeWine this year, as the mood for Republicans in Ohio is very, very sour at the moment. (For a number of VERY good reasons, starting with Noe and Ney and Taft and…)
sorry i can’t blog nader, on principle.
it’s all about turncoat?
Nader is not going to support Joe just because Joe is a third party candidate. He’s nailing him.
I hope Katherine Harris is ok– I have lost 2 friends to ovarian cancer and it’s horrible.

never been a nader fan but he has got some serious guns shooting at joe. it’s great….
egregious at 224 — I totally agree, he is the last man we need to help Lamont. He is probably on the Lieberman payroll to support Ned.
Nader: Joe is weak on public transit in transportation bill. Bloated Pentagon budget–Joe has never challenged any weapons system.
Paul Hackett on Ed Schultz, ‘Lieberman ought to get the wax out of his ears, and his head out of his backdoor.’ Should run as a Democrat or not at all.
Tells Ed he’d vote for Lamont.
Paul Hackett is on Ed Schultz giving Ned big props and saying Joe’s on the wrong side of this.
Eddie LOVES Paul Hackett, so maybe this’ll have an effect on him.
Nader knows an independent when he sees one.
Lieberman is neither independent nor democrat.
Actually imm, crashing the gate-wise, I’m open to a pretty broad coalition if it brings Lieberman down.
Nader: Joe votes for bad trade agreements.
Joe is a “RepDem”–1/2 Republican. It’s all coming home to roost for him.
most of us here support Naders basic political and economic crusades but have learned to despise him for his spoiler-role in 2000 …
sigh, if Nader hadn’t run for pres I’d really be loving him right now.
JWR 233
Jinx! You owe me a coke.
Nader: Joe picks and chooses which Democrats he is going to support.
Looks like new threads upstairs.
Me too, of course, but nader has the opposite effect on many. If he in some way became the “face” of Lamont then Ned would immediately be equated with the horrific spoiler of the 2000 campaign. Which, by the way, Lieberman was cheated out of as well. Even Lieberman’s incompetent team could figure out how that one resonates with longtime Democratic loyalists.
I wonder if this is what the radio guys expected from Ralph. They might have thought he’d support the third party thing.
Let Jane talk now!
SIGH I cannot get the damn streaming radio to work on the website. I have tried everything. Thanks everyone for doing play-by-play — it mitigates my annoyance a bit. :)
. . . and your little dog, too. – Well, maybe a doggie bisquit :p
Christy, check the volume control button at the bottom of the little popup play screen. Here it’s green.
Christy, it’s a blessing in disguise; you’re being spared the annoyance of 14-minute commercial/news/sports breaks, with 2 minutes of Jane squeezed in. Arrrgh!
Pach @ 127
Everybody Wang Chung tonight!
What a crack-up! This ad is fabulous. I love the “real people” goofus feel. The people laughing about the coffee at the end is a great touch too.
Are these the ad people spurned by the establishment Dems?
JRW 247
Snarf!
The radio station. In the upper middle there is a blue LISTEN button.
Then there is a separate popup screen. Make sure your popup blocker is off if this doesn’t come up.
Then check at the bottom of the mini screen. There is both a mute/unmute grey thingie and a bar with volume. Click both on/off to get volume on and up.
LindaR at 250 — Yes. Because heaven forbid the Democratic establishment would go with someone who is innovative, puts our fresh advertisements that are catchy and effective… *rolls eyes* These folks were behind the Jesse Ventura ads that were so successful in MN and a lot of other great campaigns around the country.
Go PAUL! One of the biggest mistakes going in the party is how they handled Hackett. He’s one of the ones that we need to keep on a front burner and hopefully there will be another shot he can take at something in the not-too-distant future.
The people in the background are Ned’s family, and yes, the ad maker is a total DC outsider.
His main client list is in the private sector, where clients demand results. The same cannot be said of the usual DC advertising suspects.
. . . and your little dog, too. – SIT! *good doggie*
Nader is now attacking Lieberman for running outside of the party system, the one that’s supposedly so corrupt and bad for this country? Is he kidding us? If this doesn’t show him for the flim-flam man he is, there’s just no hope for some people. P. T. Barnum did say you can fool some of the people all of the time.
Christy Hardin Smith @ 2:48PM
If you are using Norton by any chance, you need to go into the Advanced Settings and configure the Pop-Up Settings…

jh-lets talk about why the lieb campaign has down so fast
annc-group victim mentality. public service for many yrs, cant believe its happening
jh-we’re not fascists on a vendetta. joe called us traitors for questioning the president.
I didn’t vote for Nader in 2000 for fear of Bush. I understand expressed disappointment but do not hold him responsible for this reddemo trend. Dems are responsible for their own loss. Rethugs shouldn’t be angry over Perot for the same reasons. More party’s equals more involvement and an expanded debate and representation imo.
Well, these DJs are definitely in the Lamont camp.
what bipartisnshp?
jh-thats the myth. they’ve achieved very little for it (dems)

egregious, you’re talking about the November ballot, right? (Though it should now be the Aug one too.)
New thread, kids!
Did Joe really create a new party?
Pach and Christy — or anyone — how can I find the contact info for these ad people (ned’s messy desk)? I’d love to hook them up with the Charlie Brown campaign if possible.
OT Bush and Snow on their “holding pattern” theory of governance and Gitmo.
http://tinyurl.com/jek6u
Bush has said the high court’s silence on the use of Guantanamo as a prison signaled acceptance of his decision to hold prisoners at that facility
I’m not sure if the Adequate guy or ROve or someone else filled Bush in on that. Presumably, someone who can read the smoke signals. Given that the issue wasn’t before the Court in HamdAN, and the only case where such a thing as “how long can we hold without trials” WAS before the court was HamdI, which seemed to indicate something rather contrary, we’ll just have to let that one go by.
But I feel as if I’m letting Tony twist himself into a pretzeloid of hitherto unknown shape when he says:
White House spokesman Tony Snow said.
“How do you bring those properly to justice?” Snow asked. “In some cases, it means repatriating and in some cases it’s going to mean finding a proper way, acceptable to the Supreme Court, to conduct trials.
“I think there’s a lot of head-scratching going on,” he said. “And people really are trying to figure out what exactly does the Supreme Court opinion imply about the way in which we can proceed forward.”
Ok Tony. Imagine you’re on Wheel of Fortune, and were only momentarily distracted by Addington dressed as Vanna.
There, in front of you, for the prizes and the big money, is the phrase of the day.
___ C M J
All around you hear the crowd.
BUY A VOWEL, solve the puzzle BUY A VOWEL.
We’re your friends Tony.
Yoo is not a vowel; you don’t get to stand next to the real Vanna if you listen to Addington.
Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys may be tied up elsewhere, but the Mystery of the Supreme Court Requirments can be solved without rewinding all the Murder, She Wrote back episodes on your betamax.
Just fill in that one little blank. Yoo can’t do it, but you can Tony.
Trials that meet the requirements of the UCMJ.
Unlike every FREAKING thing this administration does, those rules aren’t a big secret.
Yet.

BTW – CCR’s report on torture is out.
Linda call the campaign annd ask who handles their advert.
LindaR — e-mail Jane — she may know. :)
I have an idea of what liebs might be up to. Maybe he is playing possum in the primary, i.e he is saving his powder for the general, and hoping lamont will use up much of his resources in the primary. He now knows he will have a do over, so why spend energy in two contests when he only needs to win one, which is the general? It is a sneaky idea but this isn’t a softball game we are talking about, this is a bareknuckle brawl, and this guy is a weasel, with tons of money behind him.Does this make sense to anyone else, and if so, what would be a good counter stratagey for lamont?
Oh, was it CT for Lieberman?
I read it as NOT MORE Lieberman.
[little bumper sticker ad joke]
They have -got- to use the fake bumper
sticker thingie in a Lamont ad. Especially
where lieb says I approved this ad. Zap.
What an idea! Ask the campaign. I called and talked to a very nice person who took my email address and said she would send me the answer by the end of the night. She sounded young, like a volunteer, and yet quite professional. I was impressed!
great! now the fun begins! trying to get to the creative folks gently. hope you saw christys suggestion.
Linda – It’s a great ad and I am so glad you are following through with it.
Bill Hillsman does Lamonts ads — did Wellstone, Ventura, and Hickenlooper in Denver.
Hick’s ads were THE BEST we’ve ever seen — and our no name brew pub beer magnate is now Mayor of Denver, and the most popular Democrat in the State.

LindaR –
Bill Hillsman did the ad — a longer post with links awaits moderation.
In the photo, what’s Joe-nertia measuring between his thumb and forefinger?
Has Babs shown up yet? I got a message from her stating that she could not respond to my request that she not come for Lieberman because I do not live in CA.
Is this the first time a political party has been named after it’s putative candidate? I mean, when TR’s delegates walked out of the 1912 Republican Convention they didn’t name themselves “America for Roosevelt.” The were the Bull Moose Party.
Joe needs to come up with a more generalized, as distinct from self-serving, name for his organization. How about the “Droopy Dog Party”?
