Having dragged a lofty literary discussion into the gutter today by introducing the subject of Kevin Federline's pants, I thought I was going to wax lyrical on the subject of manpris tonight (though I was quite impressed that Stephen Sherrill already knew what they were). Alas it was not to be, so you'll just have to read about them here, here and here, because Quicksilver just sent me a YouTube of Judy Miller being honored by her fan club. Yes, it's true.
We hoped, we dreamed, but who ever thought that Judith "I Was Proved Fucking Right" Miller would ever get the kind of adulation she so richly deserves? It will restore your faith in humanity, I tell you.
Carry on.

I love that pedestrian who just cackles her way away from the Judy Miller fans…

Hi, everybody. It’s TRex. I’m at the beach with my family. On DIAL-UP, so I will only be able to check in periodically this week. I hope you all are well!
HA!! jane, thank you so much for posting this — it completely made my day!
Dammit, I could not find any good pictures of Urkelpris…
neurophoius - lmao leaving that one for db.
I am celebrating my 7th anniversary this week of the arrival of broadband cable modem access. If I were to go to dialup access now I would rather go blind and deaf.

It’s getting harder to tell the difference between farce and reality.
Judy’s paying for some security. Looks like this wasn’t the first time her “fans” tried to give her a token of their appreciation for all her fine neocon
stenographyjournalism. It’s getting harder to tell the difference between farce and reality.
I think they’ve already converged.

It’s been fun, guys, but it’s time for me to put on a fresh pair of Manpers and head off to bed. I’ve got a lotta water to carry for the neocons tomorrow.
The farce is with Bush
That vid makes wanna has me seriously considering supporting the Senate attempt to change the Constitution by way of outlawing ‘desecration of the flag’. (Ye odle dread knit cap)…

I was just going to say that it sounded like a Republican thing…
Bravo to Quicksilver. But does this video somehow relate to Scooter Libby, The Apprentice, and hidden knowledge?
On second thought, perhaps it’s best not to connect those particular dots.

I confess I fell out of a little love with the Fitz with that purple episode. And not to hijack at all, and please, please forgive me if this has already been posted now or at any previous moment in time, but one of the best Go Fug Yourself moments was of Manpris’ Mrs, the Britney herself:

And… ummm… how would you know it was like that, Nate?
BoBo at 10:45, I’m hearing the Volga Boat Song.
Oh I’m an avid train-wreck watcher Swopa. :) Want link, I’m happy to provide a direct shot. I warn you it takes an iron constitution to make to the end. I actually started to feel bad for her in the way you feel bad for a rainman when he starts freaking out that he can’t get in to watch Wopner!
I wounldn’t dream of linking to something like that without it being requested first. That would just be mean to anyone who happened to click on it accidentally.
(psst - Nate: I think Swopa was askin’ re the waxin’)
FYI, this video was posted to YouTube on February 9th, 2006. I have no idea who made it, and found it by accident this evening.
Of course it’s odd to see Judy Miller confronted by three men in drag, who clearly stalked her in the hope of offering a supersonic foil-wrapped penis, intending all the while to film (and post) the encounter.
If you’re puzzled by all this, remember that Judy is also Judy-Judy-Judy. She’s bigger than life, overdramatic, confessionalistic, and wears designer clothes. She has dated (and married) wealthy men, cries big crocodile tears, and went to jail for her “beliefs.” In other words, she’s a highly operatic persona, worthy of an (ironic) following.
In my own way, I also love Judy. This film speaks to me.
Oh that… My dad looks like sasquatch! I vowed that with advances in modern cosmetoligical techniques and pharmacological chemistry, I’d do the hard things to make sure I never wound up with my own personal and permanent fur coat! :)
Jane,
Thank you for turning me on to Sparkle Bomblover and her fan club’s video. I had to watch it several times to stop giggling.
FWIW, Nate’s got a great pic of the Arizona Memorial (Pearl Harbor) on his website.
Good Jane… thank you! She even had a sense of humor and a black SUV, just like the VP.
Pssst, punaise … no need to hide behind me when something piques your curiosity. ;-)
It’s actually in my profile on my site but it is a good pic.
The USS Ronald Reagan pulled in early last week. Got a great aerial of it pulling into Pearl HERE. I’m actually out on my lanai looking out over the lights of Pearl Harbor right now. My condos in the hills at the back of the picture in the link above.

NATE, awesome pic!
Thankyou.
Ronnie must be turning over in his grave. First they use a carrier with his name on it to do “nation-building.
Then the idiot Rumsfeld got swacked by both the Russians and the Chinese supersonic ship killers for which (as I understand it) the carriers have no defense. Now our carriers have to park a lot farther off Iran to stay out of range, so less time supporting the ground forces (which we should withdraw, because “occupations” are always a bad deal) and it requires a lot more fuel. Way to go Rummy!
Nate - that is a great photo
For the record, this video is highly reminiscent of Act-Up confrontations in the 1980s, many of which had a street theatre/guerrilla aspect to them. I guess I didn’t realize there were other gay men following the Judy Miller/WMD saga, and who were applying the lessons from a tradition of civic activism.
QuickSilver, thank you for a great piece of street theatre.
Totally worth the looong wait with my dialup.
Nate - ditto punaise - thanks!
I can honestly say it was worth the wait for this video on my ancient (yet cheap!) dialup. OMG, I love those two!
What a way to end the weekend. ;)
…well the moon’s nearly full and the moonatics are out from under their rocks…is that a large gold foiled dildo in the ladies hands or am I seeing a foil wrapped champagne bottle? (youtube videos are always kinda blurry on my old clamshell laptop)…
Okay, the cover of “Time” is about the end of ‘cowboy diplomacy’. Meanwhile, over at “The New Yorker”, we’ve got a lengthy article about our plans to bomb the shit out of Iran. My money’s on Sy Hersch.
Download finally complete. The ladies are a hoot! Nice golden phallic missle award. She just can’t handle her fame. Judy has quite the entourage of suits. Guess we pay for them.

Sound preordained, familiar, insane?
sickenly familiar
I wish for once Dumbsfeld would listen to his generals, instead of his neocon “senior aides”…
#63, in the same issue of the New Yorker, don’t miss the article by Lawrence Wright on Ali Soufran. He’s the Lebanese-born FBI agent who worked on the Cole bombing, and who came very close to cracking the 9/11 plot. (Unfortunately, the CIA had been unwilling to share critical information with the FBI about one of the 9/11 hijackers.) It’s a very good read.
.
That Frontline episode painted him as one who will not be told. Of course so does every other indicator. Every time my inner voice says that won’t happen, I know it could. What ever happened to cold wars…
thanks QS
From The New Yorker article:
“Sam Gardiner, a military analyst who taught at the National War College before retiring from the Air Force as a colonel, said that Rumsfeld’s second-guessing and micromanagement were a fundamental problem. “Plans are more and more being directed and run by civilians from the Office of the Secretary of Defense,” Gardiner said. “It causes a lot of tensions. I’m hearing that the military is increasingly upset about not being taken seriously by Rumsfeld and his staff.”
Yes, it takes a village, but we had to destroy this village in order to save it.
Okay I’m rereading the Black Echo

Q: You comment on the noise level of a Harley, saying that “there is a difference between being considered ‘fast and powerful’ and just ‘loud and annoying’.” Do you not believe that loud pipes truly save lives?
A: Loud pipes don’t save lives. Loud pipes annoy the ever living dog snot out of other people in traffic. It’s like giving a monkey a compressed air horn and letting him run loose in the college library during finals week. Loud pipes don’t save lives, rider education saves lives. Rider education saves lives. Paying attention saves lives.
Rummy has selective hearing and a one track plan. Thirty months left.

I don’t know anything about Ruth Marcus, but in her Monday column in the WaPo, she takes on the Liberal blogosphere for its “venomous” opposition to Lieberman, and the “Ahab-like zeal with which critics are pursuing him.”
Oh, and for some reason, Joe’s “refusal to back away from his convictions on Iraq deserves admiration even from those who disagree.”
Sorry, Ruth. That sort of pigheadedness is what’s preventing us from getting out of Iraq. It’s not something I admire in anybody.

Morning, pups. With Jane on th east coast, I wonder if she tunes in this early. If yes, Hello, Jane!
OK, re: the whole “anti-war left one note blogoshere venemous lambs” thing. It seems the media is contorting themselves in a rather unbeautiful way to get to this point. How does it explain Murtha, Hillary, Webb, Talent, and Lamont at the same time? Can’t. Somethin’s happen here that has more to do with integrity than counting cou. That is because there are broader principles at play here (like womens’ issues) than the 1960’s antiwar image that is burned into Tony Snow’s head.
Kumbaya, y’all
And, JWR (who is surely asleep) to extend the metaphore, Lieberman is the great white whale? The unstoppable yet benign force of nature? Let me give another seaworthy metaphor — who is Queeg? Lieberman or Lamont?
Ned lamont gave a GREAT interview to rachl Maddow on AAR a little while ago. He was articulate and strong and really gave out a positive message for us progressives….Good on ya Ned keep it up.
Good Morning Firedogs
all this talk of Manpris and Manpers and not a word about Hugh Hewitt’s Mansierre . . . you kids are slippin’
Happy Monday mornin’, gang. Long weekend with the outlaws…finally able to hit refresh and get my overdue fix. Wish I coulda’ been here, you FirePups covered some serious material this weekend. Truly awesome scope, from women and GOTV (hey Mary!) to F.U.B.A.R.
twolf1 3:13 am — what a way to start my week, Corolla hanging up on that nasty piece of work Coulter!!
(Um, no, not going to soil my eyes with the Vlog-hag, sorry, once was enough)
Good lord, that one required a dial-up warning… thirty-four minutes of my life expended for that.
I can’t even think of a good joke about Judith Miller not wanting to take a delta-winged dick (that might come in handy) from a white-haired harpy in a cowboy hat who has trouble remembering the name of what fucking Bush toady Miller went to jail to protect.
Reading Dylan’s Tarantula while on acid would make more sense….
Good morning, all!
Tommy,
you’re rolling in a little late this a.m. :~)
Where’s Lotus?
Hey hey imm.
Haven’t seen lotus. Am I my flower’s keeper? :)
hail to the flower of the lotus blossom !

It’s not a purple shirt, It’s a royal blue windbreaker. And it would have been OK with a white or grey or even blue t-shirt.
The red t-shirt underneth made it hideous. Plus it does not photograph accurately.
Orangey-red with a strong cool color like that is a huge msitake. He should be strictly a cool color/jewel tone guy. However, he has an unfortunate addiction to orange-red. There are some ties,…. well.
Well, lemme splain my tardiness.
Hadda awful dilemma last night — do I actually start catching up on the Atlantics that I pay for and have been ignoring for some months in deference to my FDL-habit that I got for free, or don’t I?
Just this once, I went with the mag instead of the blog. So then, of course, I hadda catch up on a whole buncha kick-ass threads before joining you this morning.
RILLY now, science community, won’t you PLEASE get crackin’ on my plea for mind-melded clones, so we can all finally stay current on everything we want?
If you would, I’d be as almost as grateful to you as I am to ccmask for her Zeppolis recipe, to al-Scooter for

Then they came for the leisure suits, but I didn’t speak out because I was too busy to buy one.

and to QuickSilver and Jane for this put-me-right-on-th’-flo’-in-pain-from-laffin’ video!
Almost that grateful would still be very-very, so y’all get busy in dem labs, y’heah?
Tha-ink yewwww.
Now then, good morning, dear imm and tommy and all!
Hang on, dears, seems I’m in moderation . . .
Hey looseheadprop,
I found an old link last night that I had saved a while ago.
I think you might enjoy it.

Admitting you have an addiction is halfway to curing it.
Morning thoughts…
Hillary has decided that the road to the White House goes through Connecticut in 2006 and Ned’s campaign must be crushed. If you don’t believe me just listen to Lanny Davis a Clinton fellow traveler trash Ned on Washington Journal 7/9. He showed no mercy and was all about getting Ned as apposed to supporting HoJo. If the anti-war movement gains leverage in Ct. than Hillary’s position is weakened and although she came out early to say she would back the winner of the primary, that was more of a tip-off as to her attention to the race than any real sentiment about her support of the Democratic process. This decision is a real gamble because Ct. may be a costly detour. Ct. has a long anti-war tradition and HoJo would not have taken out petitions if he did not realize that he is in real trouble, and by taking out petitions he has further compounded his problems. It is also true that this move by Hillary could backfire and further erode the little support she has amount the Netroots and anti-war communities.
The Netroots has changed our world in many ways but one of its most important changes was discussed at YearlyKos that has been playing again on C-Span. Information gathering and dispersal is radically different and an idea formed in Chico, Ca. can reach Killingworth, Ct. in seconds and vice versa
Not this one, tommy. I’ll just have to own my weakness and deal wif it.
“as almost as grateful ” . . . you see how far gone I is.
Very cogent, Phil. The proof is in the pudding with Hillary. Talk is cheap, and her support of the winner of the CT primary is mere appeasement if she puts her resources behind Lieberman.
The meme that this race is only about the war is ossifying, and needs to be shattered.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/5165348.stm
the political “fault-lines” on the Lamont candidacy will continue to be revealing … it’s exciting!
Tommy …Lets hope she gets buried in Ct…
Another stunner was that news about Katherine Harris’s “ovarian mass.” As much as we have against her — the ruination of a century at its birth — I cringe to see this.
I didn’t hear that, lotus. Jesus.
Who put these assholes into office, who still supports them and why haven’t they been booted. At some point don’t we have to take responsibility as a nation if we want a lasting change of American politics. Digby refers to Rovian politics as Rove’s persistent, schoolyard nonsense, so true, how long do we behave as schoolchildren, how long do we allow ourselves as a nation to be manipulated by these assholes. Don’t we already know that’s their game… liars, tricksters, media manipulators, ruthless profiteers. When do we face this as a nation that we are the fools who are being consistently played with hardly an appropriate response, fool us once, twice and a thousand more times. What is the sickness we have as a nation that we would allow to stand a government who disregards the Geneva conventions and our constitution, there is no excuse but our own ignorance, greed and a huge disengaged lethargic lack of interest. It will be interesting if the current situation in Mexico will teach us to stand up to fraud or just how difficult it is to stand up to corporate fascists. I wish Obrador and his voters strength in their fight today and I hope we gain strength and courage from their efforts.
manpris: check
manpurse: check
this look is missing something..oh yeah…a manzear topped off with cropped muscle shirt
ppp…Here…here
It’s here, tommy.
To the extent that her health is threatened, I wish her well.
I am still angry that Ms. Harris, a very wealthy woman, would take advantage of her Congressional perk of going to Walter Reed for totally free medical work. Congresscritters are offered the same medical insurance as any other government employee like a clerk or technician, complete with copays and restrictions. But no, she gets it all free at Walter Reed. Her husband is also a multi-millionaire and could afford a Florida hospital for wifey …
Moi,
THANK YOU.
I never saw hat one before. I agree about his ability to look right through a person, but not about the “enjoying the fight” part. He’s more of a patient, yet firm,”father knows best” type. He expects people to do the right thing w/o being told, and when they stay from the path, they have to be directed back on to it.
of course, she’s totally against “socialized medicine” or national healthcare. It’s good being the Queen!
got to track back and read Mary’s post. I missed it at the time.
back in a few.
[I hope this isn’t a double-post.] On with the cavalcade of horrors . . . so many this morning, where to begin?
You may remember that hair-raising report from ToL’s Christina Lamb that I linked to last week — re her being pinned down with some British “paras” in a Helmand province ditch by a Taliban fusillade that none of them thought they’d survive?
Well, now she’s back in London (I think), and yesterday had a long, extremely thoughtful piece in the Sunday Times that I consider a must-read. Here’s how it begins:
