Dobson’s supporters weren’t who showed up to protest Salazar at his wife’s dairy queen. This was Bob Enyart and the Denver Bible Church - and they are nuttier than Dobson. Enyart supports the death penalty for sodomy.

I keep a close watch on Colorado politics here in Denver, and I haven’t seen much hiding and skulking from Salazar or any signs of him switching parties.

Salazar is no Ben Nighthorse Campbell. Campbell was an embarassment as a Dem, and even as a Republican. Loved to ride motorbikes, hated the concept of work. Got absolutely nothing done in WDC.

I agree with James in #57. Salazar is preparing himself to pull a Nighthorse halfway through his term. Colorado got suckered again. These guys from southern CO are just too close to Texas to be real Democrats if something else suits their own agendas. Like HRC, they are Dems as long as they need the party to get elected.

… and he’s been hiding and skulking away from that one brave move, ever since.

Has he cast any vote, since then, of which Dobson would not approve? Taken one stand about a controversial issue, other than the attempt to work toward withdrawal in Iraq, which the military family constituency might back, if silently?

Thought so.

Hugh at 241:

That’s a good summary. Salazar is a moderate, and those votes reflect the political makeup of Colorado (which has a surprisingly large number of independents).

It does not reflect perhaps the most gutsy move of his tenure–standing up to James Dobson here in Colorado. That’s a political first in this state for a Senator.

Jim at 168

My post is “utter nonsense”, and Salazar is a “cheap little opportunistic coward”?

Man, I love your thoughtful analysis!

Connecticut Dems don’t really give a shit about Salazar. Even if Obama comes, I doubt it will change any minds.

Well, well…looks like I missed quite a night. I’m assuming ‘Liberal Rob’ and whatever he said got dumped out into the ether.

I’m up and can’t sleep. My guy leaves for Iraq in 4 hours. Just wanted to check-in and see if anyone was up.

Did I mention I’m holding my breath?

And, my apologies for using the term ‘crones’, without adding its companion, ‘geezers’.
