i’m confused. do we want to kill s.2917 in committee or register support for it?

doesn’t a vote “for” get it OUT of committee?

i contacted mark pryor for arkansas but don’t yet know what he will do. i know today he voted to “stay the course” in iraq. boo to him. usualy he is a bright fellow.

I just finished e-mailing all the Dem. Senators, as well as a bunch of Repubs. (our 2 from OH - joy, plus any else that struck my crazybone for one reason or another; eg., Frist thinking he wants to be preznit, those mentioned by Christie, some fence-sitters; does Joementum count?). Thanks, all, for the great posts — helped a lot to help me piece something together. Below is what I sent to most, in case it might give s’more ideas. Then I’m gonna rest me weary fingers.

I urge you to support Net Neutrality.

Please vote FOR S-2917 (Snowe-Dorgan), WITHOUT AMENDMENT.

Net neutrality is vital to free speech, equal access, university research, and the growth and competitiveness of small businesses, just to mention a few aspects of American life that depend upon the maintenance of free and open access to the internet.

The only way to operate the internet properly is as a public service, like electricity, or a library.
It is critically important that the internet remain free from corporate control or manipulation.
Phone companies should NOT be allowed to discriminate depending on who is calling.

Please support the American electorate by voting FOR net neutrality.

Please vote FOR S-2917 (Snowe-Dorgan) WITHOUT AMENDMENT.

Ted Stevens’ amendment needs to be killed – not the bill as written.

I don’t understand. We’re one vote shy of killing a Ted Stevens bill in committee? I thought the goal was to get a majority of the Senate Commerce Committee to vote for the Snowe-Dorgan bill so it *wouldn’t* die in committee?
