I’m in EPU land,but DAMN.George Soros?Awesome.

Of course you know this now makes you one of Soros’ evil liberal minions don’t you?(mwahahaha, bats flying, lightening in the backround, you get the idea…)

I never heard of Mr Soros until Falafel Boy mentioned him(I heard a clip on Air America one afternoon)so I googled him.The wingnuts go nuts over him,I figured he had to be a good guy just because of that, lol. But I looked up more stuff and he proves that people who actually EARN their wealth by hard work are usually much better people at heart than those who have everything given to them.

Should be a fascinating conversation,I’m marking the date on my calendar now.

egregious,
it’s something I’ve been getting emails about by an anxious friend. (Subject line: More stolen laptops!)
Did a quick Google. Equifax, ING, Aetna, Ameriprise, Hotels.com are among the companies that have had data stolen.
This site shows more although they’re not all stolen laptops, by any means.
http://www.privacyrights.org/a.....eaches.htm

I just dropped by Mr. Soros’s website and found an excerpt from his book. One passage, from page xvii in the Prologue, impressed me enough that I’d like to quote it here, and maybe it will inspire more people to read the whole book:

It is no longer a question of removing President Bush from the White House; a more profound rethinking of America’s role in the world is needed. It is not enough to revert to the policies of the previous administration; America must undergo a change of heart. The process must begin with recognizing the war on terror as a false metaphor. It is now accepted that the invasion of Iraq was a grievous error but the war on terror remains the generally accepted policy.

The change of heart cannot be accomplished merely by helping the Democratic Party in the 2006 and 2008 elections because Democrats show no sign of engaging in a profound rethinking. On the contrary, Democrats have been so spooked by the Republican charge that they are soft on defense, that they are determined to outdo the Republicans in the war on terror. Nevertheless, I think it is important that the Democratic Party gain control of the House of Representatives in 2006. A Democratic-controlled House could reveal the misdeeds of the Bush administration which are currently kept under wraps.

Marty at 94 — I’d suggest you read the next thread up. You might be surprised at how much shit TNR is full of…then again, maybe not so much.

me to me # 79

Munitions from the Second and even the First World War are still being found in France and elsewhere in Europe every year. It is not unusual then that old munitions are still being found around Iraq given its many recent conflicts.

Mary, Feith now has an outline for his book:

Chapter 1: Fabricate stories about the link to terrorists of the country you wish to invade.

Chapter 2: Fabricate stories about the WMD being “sought,” “bought,” and “reconstituted” by the country you wish to invade.

Chapter 3: Hint darkly that the people who flew planes into . . . all came from/trained in the country you wish to invade.

Chapter 4: Put together a coalition of the bribable . . . er, the willing, to send 12 soldiers each from their 200 man armies.

Chapter 5: Plant false stories with the NYT and WaPo about all the reasons for going to war, then show up on MTP to say, “see, even the liberal press says we need to do this.”

Chapter 6. Have no plans for what you do once you overrun the presidential palace. Mismanage everything from there on. This will create more terrorists to fight in the future.

Chapter 7. Pretend for 3 years you haven’t made a mistake and then lie about it.

Chapter 8. Label anyone who questions what you’ve done a traitor, not supporting our troops, and willing to “cut and run.”

Chapter 9. Dismantle any independent intelligence capability, any independent Congressional oversight, any independent judicial review.

Chapter 10. Get a good lawyer, in case you’re indicted.
