Oh man, you want a Lamont response ad?

Lamont comes on and says “You know, we were trying to come up with an ad that made Joe Lieberman look like a childish jerk with a giant sense of entitlement and no real issues. And then Joe went and did it for us.” And then Joe’s silly cartoon runs, including that e’er so important bit at the end, ‘I’m Joe Lieberman, and I approved this message’. And then Lamont looks and says “Sad, isn’t it? Come on, Joe, it’s time to go.”

Is that so? And do you think it’s a mistake o target Weicker and not a deliberate effort to reach out to the Bush voters? Maybe Joe has already decided to run as an independent and try to appeal to hardcore republicans.

The silly thing is that Weicker is fairly highly regarded by Dems because he made the taxation system more fair by introducing an income tax. What resentment exists about
Weicker is on the Republican side, among the Barbara Bush species of Republicans.

Recall the bear stomping around in the 1984 Reagan ads, representing the Soviet Union. Is this where the political genius who made this ad got the inspiration?

Waay late to the thread. The thing that I get a charge out of is that the Lamont campaign is actually telling us supporters to study Lieberman’s attack ads. (Especially if you have a morbid fascination with political campaigns that are spending major bucks and doing nothing right). I doubt the Lieberman camp is returning the favor.

Imho this is an excellent ad for Ned Lamont. I reminds the voters of five important points:

1. Lieberman is a man of the past. He doesn’t have any new ideas, his ‘new’ ad looks like it’s still 1988.

2. Lowell Weicker, ex-Senator, ex-Governor of Connecticut, endorses Lamont. If a former republican who turned independent holds Lamont in high esteem, this should make Ned even more interesting for moderate conservatives and independents.

3. Ned Lamont voted republican 80% of the time? Hmm, conservatives may wonder why they should vote Lieberman if Lamont seems to have some love for the right, too.

4. Is Lieberman obsessed with bear stories? Everybody knows that he loves bear hugs, too, his pictures with Bush are ample evidence.

5. This should be a campaign about a Connecticut, what do bears have to do with that? Bears are the symbols of Finland, West Virginia and California. The state animal of Connecticut is the sperm whale. Maybe Lieberman is spending too much time outside the state so that he can’t remember that. Or is he becoming senile?

So is Lamont running TV ads?

I am a HUGE fan of Hilsman. I have sen his work in action here in Minnesota–Paul Wellstone, Jesse Ventura–and it has been brilliant. If he is up against sub-par political advertising, Lieberman is toast.
