Like the slogan btw - particularly adressed to all those scummy horizontal collaborationists…the military loving, non investigating, filthy Vichy Dems who sold out.

‘ Get FUCKING real!’

Watching the Chimps painful mnemonics in the Iraqi cabinet session reminded me of why he loves Australia so much. Here we have a Cabinet that is so simple and easy to remember. Abbott and Costello, The Wolfman, Frankenstine and Dracula.
Oh, and the creature from the black Lagoon.

How about:
‘True and Open TO America!’
Real republicans already think they’re doing what’s desired for Real Republican America even though it’s not true to most America about who Americans might be with integrity.’

I agree, Christy, I LOVE the slogan—BUT—please wait before you rush in with “real security” etc.

The best part of this slogan is the “face it, you’re lying to yourself” punch. Don’t rush them to “my guy’s the real deal”—dwell with them on their need to WAKE UP! Help them really snap out of it, not just rowse momentarily then turn over and go back to sleep.

Are we safer? No! It’s time for America to get real.
Can we afford the Republicans’ budgets? No! It’s time for America to get real.
Black box voting? It’s time for America to get real.
Torture helps Americans? It’s time for Americans to get real.
Can we afford the Iraq war? No! It’s time for America to get real.
Domestic spying is a good idea? It’s time for America to get real.

Americans Applaud Exchange of Views
During Meeting of “Congress”

Washington, June 15 – Americans interviewed in the nation’s capitol today seemed generally supportive of the idea of a “Congress” debating the war in Iraq and even other important issues.

“I favor this new ‘Congress,’ said Tyler Hansen of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, who was visiting the Jefferson Memorial with his family. “I think we should have a public debate about the war in Iraq. Something as important as a war shouldn’t be handled by just a small number of people, most of whom probably don’t have any idea what a war is really like anyway.”

Others interviewed seemed equally enthusiastic about the meeting of the “Congress.”

“It’s a great idea,” said Sally Fisher of Miami Beach, Florida who was waiting in a line at the Washington Monument. “In fact, maybe we should have this ‘Congress’ act as a kind of a ‘check’ on the Administrative branch of the government. You know, give them powers to oversee activities of the president and his cabinet, and make sure they’re not breaking any laws. Stuff like that.”

Not everyone agreed with that, however, including one man who said, “Now that’s just crazy talk. You give this ‘Congress’ any more powers and pretty soon they’ll start trying to pass their own laws and even control the budget. Where would it end?”

Okay, here’s my rant as I drove home today, listening to the outrageous “debate”. ….if I were a democrat granted the boon of 30 seconds or 3 minutes of speech, i’d have said THIS:

“I want to start out by offering my heartfelt thanks to my republican colleagues across the isle, for nobly closing each speech here today with “remember 911″. This heroic defense of our nation’s sacrifice is an obvious antidote to the poison of one of their most vocal advocates, who just last week said the widows of 911 enjoyed and deserved their fate. I am proud of our repulican congress for having the courage to stand against her remarks. It takes a mature and responsible party to denounce such outrageous behavior by one of their own. I am inspired by the patriotism shown here today, reminding all of us that republicans remember these losses and stand firmly with Real Americans against Ms. Coulter. Thank you all.”

Then I’d have a few of my friends spot their speeches with thank yous to the republicans who grandstanded—if you can’t change the message, change the meaning!

American Gyro,
I’m with you. The “get real” slogan is catchy, it captures my fury and frustration, it’s a start, but it isn’t substantive. So far, the only guys around who have a whiff of that clarity and vision you’re talking about are Murtha and Feingold, but even they are mostly in reactionary mode. There has to be something to sign on for here–a vision of the future embodied in someone like RFK, who actually had more than good speeches and charisma to offer us.
