I agree with BillNearAustin. Wankette (Cox) was definitely displaying some weird facial expressions when she appeared on Scarborough’s show last night. She kept closing her eyes for uncomfortably long periods - not blinking. Must have had a few drinkee-poo’s before her appearance on-camera. You know..just to calm her nerves.

HA! VERY funny. And sustained funny, which is even harder to do.

she’s a mainstream journalist now and has to play that “I’m objective when I use the Republican talking points so I’ll use them so I won’t be attacked by the republicans who are the only people whose opinion really matters since they have real jobs as pundits.”

I’ve been pissed that Cox represented liberal bloggers for some time now. They pulled her out to represent the left because
1) She was easy on the eyes

2) She was available on some producer’s Rolodex and could get over to the studio for a segment with no hassles

3) They didn’t want someone who would REALLY rock the boat yet would still seem “Controversial”

4) She could act as placeholder for anyone on the left demanding “balance” on a panel even when she wasn’t.

5) She could easily be used to discredit the left “oh that Wonkette. She is sooooo cute talkng about her Ass Fucking. She is just an adorable scamp. We HAVE to have her on to talk about those “angry” liberal bloggers.”

The tv and other MSM outlets used her like they used Janeane Garofalo during the run up to the war only Janeane had their number and didn’t play the stupid actor. They could have had on a real retired general who as against the war, but they

1) Wanted the celebrity for the ratings and the easy dismissal later.

2) They thought that they could clean Janeane’s clock with a few Ph.Ds who were pro-war think tankers — they were wrong and Janeane was absolutely right. But they don’t have Janeane on they still have on Anna Marie. Thank good ness we now have a few players on the left blogosphere that can’t be dismissed so easily and are REAL with their comments and are relegated to the world of gossip.

The blogging for Cox was a means to an ends. A book deal a real column in Time! She reminded me of all the stand ups in LA who aren’t really into the stand-up but see it as a means to get their sit com deal. Which also always pissed me off and confused me. It was like telling a talented rocket scientist. That’s great. You do a really good job at this, now we want you to operate on this patient. Not everyone who is good in one job is good in another and to ask them to do that is kind of bizarre. Maybe they watched too many Buckaroo Bonazi reruns.

damn…was there one line in that post that wasn’t hysterical?

even wonkette’s gotta laugh at that…if all takedowns were this funny there would probably be a lot less war in the world.

never read wonkette before i saw Ms. Cox on her book tour…on imus, perhaps…..so I guess I missed all the anal material…..but I think as a plan to springboard from a blog to a real media position the wonkette site approaches the level of “Nicely done”. Also I think it’s impossible that any photograph of ms. cox could have approached the level of marketing perfection of the wonkette cartoon. The old posture and image deal… Of course I dont know her or anything. But now she has a job AND a blog.

Did anyone see the Wonkette on Scarborough? She demonstrated some of the most bizarre faces and facial tics I’ve ever seen. No vitriol intended, but she looked totally out of it…and I mean in a pharmaceutical way.

[…] But even so, I read this post at Firedoglake (Firedoglake!?!?!) with that curious mix of irritation, unease and thwarted mirth that often goes with reading something that is valid or pointient or even amusing in parts, but spoils it all by jamming the patriarchal anti-sex attitudes down my throat in all the other parts.
