(Evenin’, Firedogs! It’s TRex again. I’ll be covering Late Nite tonight, Sunday, and maybe Monday. Tomorrow night, my dashing twin brother will be along with a primer on great gospel music of the 50′s and 60′s, and Pachacutec will be back on Saturday night. Hope you enjoy!)
In what is looking increasingly like an elaborate form of career sepuku, Republican pundette Ann Coulter seems to be doing everything within her power to alienate whatever tiny percentage of the population still takes her seriously. In a scorched-earth PR Junket o’ Hate that must be making Michelle Malkin puce with envy, Coulter, 44, made her first (now notorious) stop on the Today Show on Tuesday, then rode her broom over to the friendlier airspace of The Situation with Tucker Carlson. Keith Olbermann makes several very valid points about those two appearances (thank you, C&L), and speaking of C&L, John Amato was able to provide a venue for the 9/11 widows to respond to Coulter’s demented rantings, and their rebuttal is well worth a read.
Not content with dipping her reputation (such as it is) in kerosene and setting it on fire, on Wednesday Coulter descended like a plague of locusts on the residents of the Long Island town of Huntington, who lost 34 citizens on 9/11. In an appearance there, she attempted to justify attacking the 9/11 widows by saying, "I think I’ve broken the taboo. I’m not going to treat them like victims."
(Uh, Ann, frankly there are some taboos that shouldn’t be broken. One of them is casting aspersions at people who have already suffered deep and wrenching personal tragedy. It’s not a "liberal doctrine of infallibility" that keeps normal people from attacking Cindy Sheehan and the 9/11 widows as you allege, it’s something that, here on planet earth, we call BASIC HUMAN DECENCY. But, in true Reich Wing form, you’d rather blame the victims and make a pile of money in the process. Why not? It’s the American Way!)
One Huntington city official penned a letter to Coulter, saying, "We are disgusted with your comments…Your latest comments regarding the 9/11 widows are a disgrace to thousands who died on that day."
Ann made a big show of tearing the letter up before a crowd of baying, hooting supporters. What a classy gal, that Ann! But what genuinely makes me dizzy is the realization that by antagonizing and vilifying the families of the victims of 9/11, has she not done a complete 180 (or is it a 360?) around to being on the side of the terrorists? Like when Bill O’Reilly offered San Francisco to Al Q’aeda, you have to wonder exactly who these people are cheering for.
I know that I am not alone in hoping that this marks the end of Coulter’s foul, disingenuous campaign to be Pox News’s very own Leni Riefenstahl. Maybe finally she’s sent that black dress to the cleaners one too many times. Maybe the culture is finally rediscovering its collective gag reflex. Maybe she knows the book is a stinker and wants to be able to say that it failed because of the hullabaloo (no offense, Digby!) surrounding her remarks, rather than failing purely on its own merits.
"She just makes stuff up, doesn’t she?" asked Kathy Griffin on the same edition of the Today Show. Well, Kath, let’s just say that research isn’t exactly her best friend. And this new steaming pile of horse poo promises to pack some real whoppers, if this sample chapter is any indication. (WARNING: You will lose measurable points off of your IQ if you read the whole thing. Not suitable for children.)
One of the best reactions I’ve read to Coulter’s ravings is Jane Smiley’s "All American Hate Speech" (via Huffington):
She looks crazy and frantic, even in the few pictures I’ve seen of her online. She’s losing weight, as if there’s some kind of underlying pathology going on, as if she’s eating herself up from inside. Fear and hatred and paranoia do take their toll, and if this is her problem, I would normally be sympathetic, and see her utterances as a cry for help, but then we are faced with the enabling problem–members of the mainstream culture must be enabling her for some reason of their own…
Something is clearly wrong. Ann, if you’re listening, you need help. If you’re not on medication, seek the advice of a physician and go on something. If you are taking drugs, for God’s sake, stop at once. Maybe you’re enjoying your role as the Tonya Harding of the punditocracy, but personally, I think you need to take some time off, get some rest, maybe eat something besides rice cakes and human hearts, and see if you can’t get some closure on that whole Felony Voter Fraud suit against you in Florida. For your own good. Oh, and you should maybe try going to church. Over at Raw Story , they’re reporting that the people at your alleged church have never seen you there. Judging from your present course, it’s only a matter of time before you go wandering through the lobby of The Four Seasons in your nightie, glassy-eyed and muttering, or turn up unannounced for a woozy strip-tease on Sean Hannity’s show. These days, watching you spew your bilge on TV is like watching a drunk cross an icy street carrying a crate of rusty nails and broken glassware. It’s all fun and games, but before long, somebody’s going to lose an eye, and then it won’t be funny anymore.
It’ll be hilarious.

About Firedoglake
Fitz!
hi-farking-larious pic, DB!
One day we’ll see rats coming out from her shrivelled orifices, after they finish devouring whatever is human in her. Won’t be long now.
The Bitch of Buchenwald is nearing her last show.
Fitz = Godfull!
A friend says that he thinks it is only a matter of time before Coulter is seen wandering the streets, going through trash cans. I think he is right. And sooner, rather than later.
TRex– that is be-yoo-ti-ful! I saw her tonite on the starstruck, chuckling Father Dobbs and she said rather than his comparison of her as the right wing Michael Moore, that she was a right wing Mencken or Mark Twain.
lemmeseehere: delusions of grandeur, narcissism, weight loss, lack of conscience… yep, sociopath.
A bit of disservice to jackasses worldwide, I might add.
FDL speechless?
Naaahhh . . . it’s just that after looking at this mess, there isn’t a whole lot to say.
Kind of sad, though. Like driving past a car crash on the expressway, and you realize that one of the cars crumpled against the median barrier is the SUV that flew past you a couple miles back doing 90. You slow down, and don’t want to look too closely, and you hope no one else is pancaked under all that mess.
But then you see two other cars there, and three ambulances.
She may be sad, pathetic, and in need of rest, but she’s also dangerous as hell. The swill she peddles is lapped up by wingnuts in training, and we’ll all be paying for that in the years to come.
Don’t feed the trolls, but for God’s sake point them out!
A few further thoughts after watching the Today show clip:
1) Coulter is actually dumb. This is not something I quite realized before. I knew she was a fanatic and all else besides but I was for some reason under the impression that she was sharpish, quick-thinking in some respect, or at the very least exceptionally well prepared. I was surprised to see, then, that ML’s initial questions perplexed her so much. That was quite a vacant stare on her face. The question about popularity quite basic and as he showed, she was able to answer them a year ago. I was also suprised at the vernacular quality of her speech (”I’m like…”). She looked like a dumb, vacant, celebutante I have to say.
2) The bit about her weight that Jane Smiley mentions as well: she has the lean, mean Desperate Housewives look, which is in fact desperate and betrays many anxieties. There are visible chinks in her psychic armor, in other words.
I suposse I could put on my best concern troll hat and help worry about Ann.
But on second thought, I think I’l just encourage her to keep it up. Watching her implode is just so much fun.
And when the public has finally decidered that enough is enough with respect to Ms. Coulter, the fallout will certainly spread to Limbaugh and Savage and Malkin and the other hate-filled Republican cheerleaders.
So Ann, you go girl!
Re: Leni Riefenstahl.
The comparison is inapt, because Riefenstahl, for all of her sins (and there were many), is widely considered to be one of (if not THE) best documentary film-makers of all time. Coulter, on the other hand, will be forgotten before the dirt has settled on her grave. (And frankly, I just can’t see Coulter walking away from a helicopter crash in her late 90s. Riefenstahl may have been evil, but she certainly wasn’t dull.)
I think that thinking that people who don’t think think is thoughtless thinking. Just saying. Coulter reminds me of something a friend of mine liked to quote: In the main, the universe is populated by people who simply shouldn’t exist.
Like the post and the photo. Is she a jackass or a jenny?
a scorched-earth PR Junket o’ Hate that must be making Michelle Malkin puce with envy
man, that makes me giggle ;)
That today show interview reminded me of another train wreck interview I’d seen somewhere before…
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KDc0BhWwzjk
My girlfriend and I were watchig said Countdown show and I formulated this theory: Coulter was somehow victimized when she was younger. Rape, abuse, something. And then she so internalized her hatred of her victimization that now she lashes out at anyone she percieves to be a victim. They’re the whiner, they’re the evil entity, the victim is to blame because they let it happen.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.
Hi, hope the moderator can fix the email in Frank Probst’s 82 on the previous thread, ‘at’ for @ etc.
Well, that’s all the pizazz I can pack into one day.
Gute nacht.
Actually, equating Ann Coulter to Leni Riefenstahl is probably insulting to Riefenstahl. She, at least, had some genuine artistic talent. Coulter isn’t all that great a writer, and she’s terrible at research. One guy who reviewed one of her books was so exhausted after debunking one chapter that he stopped.
http://slannder.homestead.com/
When you’re lower than Leni R., you’re pretty damn low.
Jennifer-
I think it’s pretty clear that Coulter was molested by hippies, hence her rabid and unreasoning hate for liberals *and* other victims.
From Dobbs: just tell me this is not weird that she says she is not queer, in this context.
>>>>>>
COULTER: Yes. Well, there are a lot more attacks on one side than the other. And if you’re describing what I say about the “Jersey Girls” as reducing dialogue in America, au contraire. I think it is precisely the opposite. That is my objection to what liberals are doing by sending out victims as their spokespeople. I think it’s the ugliest thing liberals have done to dialogue in this country.
Yes, there are important issues and we should discuss it. But if you have a point to make, send out somebody who isn’t a widow, who isn’t an orphan, who didn’t have a son die in Iraq, who didn’t lose limbs in Vietnam to make the point so that we can respond, because I don’t want to hear the point when I respond, oh, that’s mean. Oh, that’s mean. You know, let’s have a dialogue about the issues. You never see conservatives doing that. Liberals are putting up human shields.
DOBBS: I never see conservatives doing what?
COULTER: Putting up human shields to make our points. Go ahead, attack me.
DOBBS: OK. I will attack you.
COULTER: I’m here, I’m not queer. I’m not going away.
(then)
DOBBS: Well, I just did. Watch me. I’m going to say it again. I think both the left and the right are mean-spirited.
COULTER: OK, you can say it. That is absolutely not true. Look at Michael Moore can go speak on any college campus in America. I have to travel with a bodyguard. There is no food. There are no threats. There is no violence being done even against Ward Churchill calling all of the victims, not the four Jersey moms, “little Eichmanns.”
There’s no violence being done to them. There’s a Talibanist at Yale, he walks about unmolested. Frankly, I’m a little disappointed in the manly virtue of the conservatives in this country that that Talibanist can walk around without getting his face smashed.
You know, when Michelle Malkin, David Horowitz and I and Condoleezza Rice can’t give a speech on a college campus without a phalanx of bodyguards and policemen, do not tell me it’s both sides engaging in the mean-spiritedness.
DOBBS: Both sides in the media and certainly in the discourse I would normally describe as the media but I will tell you this, I think your point in terms of university campuses, whether people like to hear it or not, is absolutely true. There is a mean-spiritedness I think abroad in many, many universities in which there is a liberal cant that is suffocating to free and independent thought. And on that, I will absolutely exceed your view.

Ann Coulter is the perfect embodiment of the modern American dream, in which ANYONE can become fabulously wealthy, no matter how lacking they are in talent, looks, personality, whatever—as long as they have no shame at all, and the morals of a cockroach.
Ann Coulter is a brainless, vapid woman who somehow takes pride in attacking victims of terrorism. You’d think that the Right would have it’s narrative straight by now– aren’t they supposed to be against terrorists?
(But no- it’s obvious by now that the Right is FOR terrorism, as Bush &co have clearly emboldened terrorists around the world and radicalized opinion, all while making America less safe.)
Anyway, about this Coulter. It’s a disgrace that our national airwaves even allow her to come on and promote this hate speech.
So Coulter’s whole “I’m not going to treat 9-11 widows and their families like victims/I’m going to treat them like trash” mantra is her idea of a riff on Mark Twain? I’m sayin’, Code blue.
Lou Dobbs mentioned her book is #1. Her next one will probably use the bloody zarq. photo on the cover. I Still say Ann needs a rhinestone grill. (teeth jewelry)
Frank Probst at 8:37 pm –
I’ll beg to differ with you slightly about Leni Riefenstahl.
I don’t think her reputation is as a documentary film maker; Triumph of the Will is more of a propaganda fascist motivational film, disguised as a documentary.
She was very good at what she did, quite possibly the best — but it was not documentary.
I think Frank Capra’s response film, Why We Fight was a stroke of genius — he used extensive footage from Triumph of the Will to make the point that we could show the fascists no mercy, because they would do every thing they could to destroy us.
What is the deal with constantly, and SHE does it, comparing this thing to Michael Moore.
One doesn’t have to defend Moore to ask where the equivalence is? What is it that Michael Moore us supposed to have said that matches any of the top 20 or so things Coulter has said?
Pity they didn’t bomb the Times?
This has now reached the level of agreed upon wisdom, but what, exactly is Moore supposed to have said?
Amid our collective outrage, there is a glimmer of opportunity for those who dare to sieze it. The opportunity Democrats have before them is to paint the GOP with Ms. Coulter’s filthy brush. Whenever possible, the GOP should be linked to her in public discourse, as in “Leading GOP spokesperson Ann Coulter said today…………….” In any public debate the GOP candidate should be pressed to either defend her positions or emphatically refute them. Make the contest a referendum on her much as the republicans focus attention on their own side non-issues.
“marky says at 8:41 pm: Ann Coulter is the perfect embodiment of the modern American dream, in which ANYONE can become fabulously wealthy, no matter how lacking they are in talent, looks, personality, whatever%u2014as long as they have no shame at all, and the morals of a cockroach.”
Yeah, it’s almost like she’s Paris Hilton’s ugly sister.
Rushton, agreed. That’s why I called her “Republican pundette Ann Coulter”.
Frank and ck, talent or no, Riefenstahl was an integral part of the Nazis’ propaganda machine. That was the point I was trying to make.
Lettuce @ 8:50 pm (#24) – I think they’re equivalent in how much outrage they inspire from the other side. They aren’t equivalent in any other way I can think of.
When did Coulter get so “religious” anyway? It wasn’t that long ago she was bragging about being single and sleeping with all the men she wanted to.
I agree with many others who say she doesn’t actually believe what she says–it’s just part of her act. She’s laughing at the left for giving her a platform, and she’s laughing at her fans for their utter stupidity in buying her books and her lies.
Will be away from the computer for a few minutes as I head home. Hope you kids like the post.
VG is moderating and writing down your IP addresses for the NSA, so be nice.
Rushton at 8:50pm
I’m with you 110% there. I would think this would be obvious, but the Dems have been handed several similar golden opportunities in the past only to run from them. Coulter just served herself up on a silver platter.
bekkieann,
“When did Coulter get so “religious” anyway?”
About the $ame time that Ralph Reed did, just gue$$ing of cour$e.
Doesn’t she get that these women would never have had to form a group and speak up at all if their husbands had not died in a TERRORIST ATTACK? And they wanted answers, and they were not getting any. So they exercised their American freedom of speech…
Oh, it is just so pointless and tiresome to try to explain things to mean-spirited idiots like her.
I do think she just hated being called “The Right’s Michael Moore” so I’ll be sure to call her that from now on….
http://apoeticjustice.blogspot…..mmand.html Officer Refuses Command. And there is a Coulter poem previous to this one…. Enjoy.
I have just had the joyful and humbling good fortune of spending the day in the company of a large contingent of esteemed FDL’ers (including Christy and Jane and Pach) who have made the trek to Vegas and the YearlyKos convention at the Riviera.
Awesome. I respect you all SO much.
Topped off by getting to meet and speak with both General Wesley Clark and Maureen Dowd. OH, MoDo!!!! Yikes!
Mad props, T.
Left Blogistan slack also being picked up mightily tonight by The Editors, digby, and the Rude Pundit.
Bittersweet. It’s going to be a long hot summer.
TRex – You rock! Frankly, Ann’s latest stunts have so appalled me that I lacked the words to even begin to outline the depth of her profanity against the human heart and spirit, but you did so wonderfully.
What amazed me during this whole debacle were those who said “oh she’s just doing this to gain attention to sell books” as if that somehow ameliorates the utter depravity of her actions. For, oh yes, it is so much better to stone a widow in order to sell tickets to the show than it is to do it because in your sick mind you truly believe the widow has committed an offense.
I have no idea what Ann’s mental, emotional, or psychological disorders may be nor do I really care other than for the fact that she parades them everywhere, she shimmies and shakes them, flips her hair and barks like a rapid dog and the media happily offers a platform for her malevolent and twisted little fan dance. It’s a pretty sick relationship all around.
I only hope that as a people we haven’t gotten so freakin’ bitter and devisive that this will be allowed to pass. There ARE lines and they should be drawn and never crossed.
Swiftboating to widow-stoning; what sordid minds turn the heroes into villains and the villains into the heroes, the victims into perpetrators and the perpetrators into victims?
Accept her for what she is – an opportunistic asshole.
You know why people slow down for car wrecks? Schadenfreude; Same thing here. Not that there aren’t some who agree with what she says (although an ever smaller number), but people tune in to watch her or read her books b/c they want to see and hear the car wreck – she is “entertaining” in that way. (Of course, most of you don’t take my maxim that nearly all TV, but especially “news” shows, are based on Schadenfreude, but you should). Her raison d’etre has never really been to promote right wing if not fascist ideology – it’s always been about promoting herself. She is the show, she is the news, she is the star, she is the center of attention, SHE’S ENTERTAINMENT – a TEAM LOSER DON RICKLES FOR THE HARDCORE NEONUT SET APPEARING SOON AT A CHURCH NEAR YOU. She knew she would never make it in Hollywood, even in pornos, so she chose another avenue.
Anyway, regardless of whether I am right concerning the above (I am, since I am omniscient), or she really, really believes thinks that Chimpy is god and is pissed that she wasn’t born European in the ’30s, we are still fortunate, since, as a result of her choices, she created her own “death spiral” of needing to raise the outrageousness of her rhetoric once she chose the false ideologies of TEAM LOSER.
Remember, you can only sells lies as long as you are perceived as “successful,” which has nothing to do with being right or moral or anything else. Once the success stops, and, in this case, your team and its products have been exposed as false and empty, you need to keep raising the ante just to try and remain afloat. Never works, and in fact, by raising the ante you are just speeding up your downfall.
Al Gore on with Jay Leno!
Bobby G!!!!! Oh, I wish could be there. Take notes! Did you go to the FDL caucus? Assume so. Report on that?
Ann Coulter is SLIME. And a coward. Didja see the video clip of time time she almost got “pied” while giving a speech? She frantically ran offstage in a complete piss-your-panties panic.
The epithets have yet to be derived to fully encapsulate the extent of her scuzziness.
oh!! p.s. are you allowed to take pix?
Evil Parallel Universe,
Re: “Accept her for what she is – an opportunistic asshole.”
True, not that I care but hopefully for her, she still has that eye patch she had in 1998. She’s going to need it in NYC.
The thing that I find strange about Ms. Coulter’s rhetoric is not so much its overall viciousness, which bespeaks a frustration bordering on hysteria, but the recurrent imagery of graphic violence being done to the people she claims to despise.
Has she ever seen violence close up, I wonder? Even well-trained police and soldiers have a hard time keeping their lunch down when they encounter it close-up, at least the first few times.
Assuming she isn’t just the attention-craving hypocrite that many FDLers take her for, maybe it is just a rhetorical device — her way of showing that she’s serious, and doesn’t intend to be swayed by appeals to her sympathy. If so, she’s in desperate need of a reality check — a long walk in the countryside, an ocean voyage, a weekend with friends (if she has any.) Otherwise, I really do think she’s in serious danger. A person who can say the kind of things she says in public, with no apparent remorse afterwards, is a soul in mortal jeopardy, whatever the danger she represents to the rest of us, and as such, deserves to be pitied.
I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Wes Clark twice up here in NH. Liked him a lot. You are oh so lucky, BobbyG! Sounds energizing, to say the least. Enjoy!
Those Jersey Girls don’t know what pain is.

Valley Girl, mon Cherie…
I SO wanted to give you hugs (zennurse and the “babe” have hooked up). The FDL caucus was packed and WAY cool.
I’ve been asked to be a mic runner (a la Phil Donahue-ish) tomorrow during the Plame leak panel Q&A. Tomorrow will be awesome. That panel session will be followed by an Ambassador Joe Wilson book signing.
Mrs. Alito doesn’t know what pain is.

I told General Clark that the first political campaign contribution check I EVER wrote was for his run, and that I would do it again in a heatbeat. He was equivocal, but was leaving the door open.
Bobby G- well, you know where to email those pix.
Also, I hope you get to say a few nice words to Matt O. He is my “tribute” for YK.
But, what went on at the FDL caucus in a general way? I don’t even have a general picture of how that worked- a big cocktail party? Formal comments? That kind of thing. Just a brief description, apart from who met the Babe.
Shorter me – She has some politico/ideological Ponzi scheme going, and now the investors want their money back. Since I really like “politico/ideological Ponzi scheme” I figured I should share it. Feel free, as always, to use it. KAZUZA!

Sigh.
I wish punaise was here.
TRex,
“The Tonya Harding of punditocracy” goes a lot further with me than allusions (illusions) to Mark Twain or Leni Reifenstahl.
An interesting take on the claims that her book is rapidly ascending in sales can be found here:
http://www.newsmax.com/archive…..1032.shtml
Newsmax, which has a pattern of supporting the most bizarre right wing Christian stuff capable of being played mainstream, is pimping her book at less than $5 a copy. They seem to pump it or sidebar it every other line in the article I’ve linked to above.

The FDL causus was held in a suffocating too-small meeting room. Christy had us all fill out this short intro form with some goofy questions (and our FDL posting names), then exchange them. One one-by-one people would read off the sheet they ended up with, with the person being ID’d then standing up to be recognized. Very funny.
Pach then got up to give a talk and engage questions about the Roots project. and, then time was up. That was it.
shoephone, that’s effing brilliant.
I left you a message in your medicine cabinet by the way.
hey all- i am no lawyer- just wondering if the jersey girls have any legal recourse against this slanderous assult by the odious one?

“If you were sentenced to death and were about to be executed, what would be your final meal request?”
Jeesh…(not making that up, that’s what was on the form)
What amazes me about Coulter is she claims all these vicious attacks by the liberals all the while declaiming of an utter lack of the same by conservatives.
And the fact is they believe it.
I have a theory. I believe there is a pandemic of SVV. Special Victim Virus.
An SVV sufferer has been a victim of something. As a result they feel entitled to a free pass from the world. Part of the pathology of SVV is a complete inability to recognize that anyone else may also have been victimized.
Ergo their common response to others’ suffering is something along the line of “Fuck them! What about me! I’m the real victim here!”
Generally, they inflict far more pain on others than they themselves have suffered. It’s one of the ironies of the disease.
This is not to be confused with AVV or Actual Victim Virus.
And AVV sufferer may look pained and also demand a free pass but can recognize that others may have also been victimized but they can never perceive that that others may have suffered more.
Also when confronted about their disease the AVV sufferer will generally respond with “I don’t want to talk about it.”
In common with SVV, AVV is very hard to treat or to cure.
Can you describe Matt O.? I will read your comment and then delete if you don’t wish to go public.
EPU:
Damn. And I thought I was a hard core cynic! I have to say your position on Coulter makes a great deal of sense, but it also scares me. It seems that everywhere I look, the political process have been corrupted. For fun. For money. For religion, For entertainment. For every damn purpose EXCEPT democracy.
What concerns me about Coulter is not that she’s a nutbag and an opportunistic asshole. Those things are self-evident. It’s that so many people worship at her feet. They buy her books. They sing her praises. They imitate her speech. And the news media gives her a soapbox as if she were a rational, sane, thinking human being.
Coulter is just one symptom of a much more serious disease.
Sigh.

I’ll get more pics tomorrow. I don’t have zennurse (she is SO sweet). I do have Christy, Jane, and Pach, during the FDL caucus).

Matt O is a tall good looking young black haired dude (hispanic blood?) from Tucson. Very nice guy.
I’m assuming that’s the right Matt.
Bobby G: final meal, well, I would have said- I wouldn’t actually want to eat this, but I’d sure like to have it cooked up for me, because it would feel really special- Bush slow roasted over an open spit, having been previously larded (lardons). Of course, that’s only a metaphorical imaginary request, bec. we don’t say those kinds of things here.
“Not going to treat them like victims”. So shes saying they’re not victims??? Shes unmarried and barren but even a callous idiot understands surviving spouses and children of those who are murdered are victims (legal and emotional). Seems to fit right in to the Republican treatment of any victims of their failures….no cameras when the dead soldiers coming home, no Bush at any funerals, cruelly sliming Cindy Sheehan. Shut up and stay anonymous, you are only free to praise Bush!
I thought by now, New Yorkers would have thrown this woman (and now O’Reilly joins in to agree with fascist Ann) out of town permanently. The Republicans still have not captured the man responsible for 9/11 and now they stiff them on federal spending? Whats it gonna take for NYCers to finally put a stop to this?

The Republicans still have not captured the man responsible for 9/11 and now they stiff them on federal spending? Whats it gonna take for NYCers to finally put a stop to this?
Six congressional seats. :)
Yep, Matt O. is from Tucson. And he is Hispanic. I spoke to him on the phone earlier today for the first time (he gave me his cell phone # and I phoned him- just as he got past security check for his flight to Vegas.
Shoephone,
What a tree you grew from that mustard seed…
Washington Slimes: “Some Democrats Call Zarqawi Killing a Stunt”
Except when you read the article, no Democrat calls the Zarqawi killing a “stunt”.

Just have a second, so I apologize for not reading the other comments first, just wanna toss this in here:
Why would anyone be surprised by anything that Coulter says — now that she reveals all in her new book:
Godless: An Autobiography?
[Have a great night, everybody! See y’all ASAP.]
Bobby G- oh another question- do you have badges or something that show that you’ve registered, and thus allow you to get into sessions? If so, I was curious if the badges had people’s real names, or screen names.
Oh, yeah, and Matt O. told me that Armando had been outed. Anything about that?
Valley Girl -
Yeah, we have badges with our real names on ‘em.
And, Armondo was “outed” — jokingly, as “Valerie Plame.”
Ed N S – Don’t worry. People stop staring at the car wreck soon enough; and those who invest in a Ponzi scheme are usually wiser and more cautious once they catch on. She’s toast.
IAAL – Libel – she wrote it in her book after all. Sure, it sounds possible. The key thing about liable (defamation in general) is that the alleged victim must be clearly identifiable. The allged victim can be a group, but a clearly identifiable one – not general like “all lawyers are crooks,” I couldn’t sue you for that one even though IAAL.
I am sure there is a lawyer who would take the case, and I don’t see it being thrown out for being frivilous – although I am a universe, not a judge.
The other issue would be if they are “public figures” or if the issue is one of “public interest/import,” cause then the constitution (1st Amendment) gets involved. The widows are not public figures by any definition I know. As for public interest, possibly, although they could still sue they would have a higher to meet a higher burden of proof, although not as high as if they were public figures.
I say sue her.
‘night all. Tired. Day 8 of lisinopril. Side effects suck.
Bobby G: no, it was more along the lines of Armando is a corporate lawyer.
Spellchecker, you bastard!
liablelibel. Much better.I haven’t followed the details about Armando. Here is a dKos diary from Armando:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/6/7/221843/2153
and a related diary:

Just to clear up this point – Libel is written defamation, slander is spoken defamation. So, my reference to “defamation in general” was to “defamation in general,” not that libel is “defamation in general.”
And remember, you cannot libel the dead, so have at Coulter (a little lawyer’s humor).
Gaugin? It’s not even an Artanis…
TRex, in fine form ce soir. Just dropping by for now.
the Tonya Harding of the punditocracy
heh heh. knee-jerk, indeed.
AC is quite a piece of work. A pox on her. (Pox-News?) Decency is not within her realm of comprehension.
if I may:
Judging from your present course, it’s only a matter of time
…you’re present(ly) coarse, it’s only a matter of slime
Milo – Great obscure reference to the Dick Van Dyke Show I believe.
“Pox News”
Luv that punaise, I’ve never seen it before, thanks.
Gaugin? It’s a Gigot.
John Casper – unfortunately it’s contagious among the heathens.
And the news media gives her a soapbox as if she were a rational, sane, thinking human being.
Au contraire. They give her a soapbox specifically because she isn’t a rational, sane, thinking human being.
TRex – I will go check for that message. Weird thing though, last time I opened the medicine cabinet Agent 44 was in it.
But I’m so glad you’re here with us poor, unfortunate non-YK’ers. I’ve been dealing with my YK envy all day.
I hear Ann wants to interview Charles Manson for her next book. Do you think Charlie would stoop that low?
(Apologies to Johnny Carson)
Judging from your present course, it’s only a matter of time
%u2026you’re present(ly) coarse, it’s only a matter of slime
Oh, no punaise, if I may,
You peasant-y horse, you are a slatternly swine.
TRex – I will go check for that message. Weird thing though, last time I opened the medicine cabinet Agent 44 was in it.
Look in his coat pocket. I wrote it on an aspirin.
BTW – After that Today Show interview, I’m pretty convinced Ann is a coke-head. Not that I really know anything about coke. Well, I mean if I did I couldn’t really say so here.
But anyway, I think Ann is a coke-head.
It’s not a Gaugin or a Gigot, it’s a Gergin.

EPU @ 90
If libel is written defamation, and
if slander is spoken defamation, then
is Coulter walking defamation?
Coulter is walking defecation.
-GSD
But anyway, I think Ann is a coke-head.
Aheh, I would accuse you of being over the line, but Ann just inhaled it.
THANK YOU!
I’LL BE HERE ALL WEEK!
On the aspirin???? Oh jeez.
I had a horrible headache earlier and –
Sorry about that, Chief.
Or Squawking Defecation…
-GSD
I wish Coulter would auto-Da-FEnenestrate.
Shoephone, get to a doctor, that aspirin is going to self destruct in six…five…four…
Ed N Sted @ 72:
Referring to EPU, you wrote “your position on Coulter makes a great deal of sense, but it also scares me.”
Couple of thoughts about that . . .
(1) I can’t imagine any position on Coulter making a great deal of sense – they ALL scare me!
(2) Can EPU sue you for libel?
The phrase auto de fe refers to the ritual of public penance of condemned heretics and apostates that took place when the Spanish Inquisition or the Portuguese Inquisition had decided their punishment (that is, after the trial). Auto de fe in medieval Spanish means “act of faith”. The phrase also commonly occurs in English in its Portuguese form auto da fe (or auto da f).
BTW – You will have to live with the bold since I banned the Italics from the EPU for leaning to the right.
It’s not a Gaugin or a Gigot or a Gergen. It’s a Gherkin. (one soaked in piss and vinegar).
Rob- thanks for the Armando links. I tried to google earlier, but didn’t get too far. I couldn’t make it through the comments to his diary- those kos comments are hard reading for me bec. of the format. I stopped reading at dKos because of a particularly obnoxious comment by Armando, when people were discussing possible election fraud during the Hackett Schmidt OH-2 election. It really upsets me that he is so dismissive of the whole election fraud/ Diebold/ Blackwell etc. etc. issue.
I may not be the only one with this reaction.
http://www.boomantribune.com/s…..05932/0635
http://www.boomantribune.com/c…..32/0635/76
EPU’s going to the Shatner Zone?
Peterr – No, since I instigated tort reform in the EPU I couldn’t even if I wanted to; but I had to cause the EPU is a fairly harsh place.
More seriously, you have to do injury to someone’s reputation to be able to sue for defamation, and saying that someone or something scared you does not injure my reputation – it might even enhance it.
After that Today Show interview, I’m pretty convinced Ann is a coke-head.
As opposed to a vampire-head, who dragged her undead corpse into the TV studios after an unsuccessful night of stalking humans to drink their blood?
EPU – I was referring to Ed’s comment that you apparently have a position on Ann Coulter . . . Don’t know about you and your rep, but that’d play hell with mine!
Re italics: I always thought of them kind of like the old 60’s “Truckin’” feet, stepping off to the left, myself. ;)
You are not alone, VG @ 113, on that. I rarely go over there anymore.
Peterr – I took the statement as metaphorical.
And Italics lean to the right, no matter what your flashbacks tell you :)
Armando is a pal of Tacky. That doesn’t speak well for him.
EPU – exactly. She gets the soapbox bc she is that “Team Loser Don Rickles” and “Tonya Harding of punitocracy”
No one bothers to call her on her basice premise. She is not responding to any issues the “Jersey Girls” have raised in her “taboo break” is she? SHe says – gosh, we need to talk about the issues but it’s not fair bc they send victims to talk. But she then mocks their loss instead of addressing their issues.
It’s all about the right being unwilling to deal with content, only framing. So her response is to being pissed at loss of a framing issue and trying to degrade that framing – rather than actually addressing. What is the content of her response? That she can, on an early morning show, degrade surviving widows, AS SURVIVING WIDOWS, and without ever addressing their issues, but she can’t address their issues.
She doesn’t want to talk about the professionally “victimized” religious right, inluding herself, who wallow in the martyrdom of the fact that not everyone does every thing exactly as they wants. Who whines? The right whines. If people aren’t just like them, they whine whine whine whine whine. Pisses me off and I’m a wasp.
When your highest and best use is to whine that widows shouldn’t be allowed to have opinons that differ from yours bc it’s not fair that they are widows and you aren’t – what a loser.
Yeah – I never found Rickles funny either.
EPU 97 – …They give her a soapbox ….
someone should wash her mouth out with that soapbox
GSD one-oh-touchee
VG –
Check out Matt O’s profile at dKos . . .
who wallow in the martyrdom of the fact that not everyone does every thing exactly as they wants. Who whines?
That particular behavioral trait is known as solipsism.
Yeah – I never found Rickles funny either.
That made me realize that if what Ann does really is, as she alleges, “jokes”, as comedy? It’s lame as shit. It’s like reheated Diceman shtick.
Mary @ 121

I’ll beg to differ with you slightly about Leni Riefenstahl.
I don’t think her reputation is as a documentary film maker; Triumph of the Will is more of a propaganda fascist motivational film, disguised as a documentary.
She was very good at what she did, quite possibly the best %u2014 but it was not documentary.
I think Frank Capra’s response film, Why We Fight was a stroke of genius %u2014 he used extensive footage from Triumph of the Will to make the point that we could show the fascists no mercy, because they would do every thing they could to destroy us.
———————————————————-
I agree with you on “Triumph of the Will”, but I was thinking more along the lines of “Olympia”, her documentary of the Berlin Olympics. Unfortunately for Hitler, that was the one where (as the film called him) the “American Negro” Jesse Owens smoked Hitler’s Master-Race Germans on the track.
Mary & Bionic – Which should tell you that it is not about the ISSUES, it is about ENTERTAINMENT. Sure, the news could “do” issues, and maybe once did, but at least the television variety has given that up. Although, again, on this front liberalism does win out, since schadenfraude, if not reality as M. Colbert states, is liberal.
angie at 17
RE: Coulter’s claims that liberals make all the threats and conservatives are always civil.
Ah, yes, who can forget the measured, restrained, intellectual response conservatives mounted against “The Dixie Chicks”? Margaret Cho needs to forward Ann some of the witty e-mails she’s gotten.
VG #113, Angie #118 -
I “third” that.
angie @ 17 posted a bit of Ann’s sitdown with Lou Dobbs, which had me rolling on the floor.
Ann’s whole “I’m not going to treat [the Jersey Girls] like victims” spiel rings a little hollow, after she whines about having to have a bodyguard follow her around. “Poor me, and lucky Michael Moore. Waaaaah!” So much for not treating anyone – especially herself – like a victim.
But speaking of Michael Moore . . .
Back in January 2005, right after the second Bush inaugural, I was at a John McCutcheon concert in Berkeley. John was introducing a song called “Ashcroft’s Army,” and got to telling a story about running into Michael Moore at the Denver Airport in late October. At the time, the election was looking close, and Fahrenheit 911 was doing well. It was very early in the morning, pre-coffee, and John was standing in the very long security line, when he heard this loud voice behind him. “It is you – John McCutcheon.” He turned, and Moore was right behind him in line. John told the Berkeley crowd that “if you’ve got to spend 90 minutes in line at an airport, too damn early, without any coffee, Michael’s a great guy to spend it with.” They talked about all kinds of things as the line slowly made its way toward the screeners. When they finally were at the front of the line, John and Michael did the whole Alphonse and Gaston routine: “After you, Michael,” said John. Michael laughed. Hard. “No, after you. I’m going to be here for a while,” he said, nodding at the screeners. “They always pick me for ‘random’ extra attention.”
They laughed, loudly, and John went through. As Michael stepped forward, though, . . . “Would you please step to the side, sir?”
Ann whines about her bodyguards, but Michael laughs at a little extra governmental attention. Me, I’d rather laugh than whine.
Peterr – Who’s John McCutcheon?
hmmm. less than nine hours driving time to Vegas. hmmm, let’s see. brew a thermos full of Peet’s coffee, hop in the car, drive all night, crash the gates of YKos….
sigh. ain’t gonna happen.
(would that be an auto duh feh?)
At the moment, C-SPAN2 is re-airing their discussion with YearlyKos organizer Gina Cooper.
Hello from Las Vegas. Met lots of firepups–including the boss ladies. Jane is beautiful. Met Ms. Marsh too.
Shoephone -
Grammy nominated folk singer, who does lots of old union songs, folk song, lefty political stuff, and some of the most amazing kids music around. Tons of albums, and a great storyteller to boot. He plays just about any instrument with strings, and is one of the best in-person concert folks I’ve ever seen.
His website is http://www.folkmusic.com, and if he’s playing anywhere within a couple of hours of you, get down there.
Next year we’re gonna need a bigger motel. All sold out and notes on the bulliten board looking for a place to crash. Awesome.
punaise @ 136
You left out “it’s dark outside, and we’re wearing sunglasses.”
Put the band back together, punaise. You’d be on a mission from odd.

Oilfield Guy – don’t be such a tease! Please sir, I want some more….YK/FDL info, that is.

Where are the pictures?
Demon posession is such a sad, sad thing. Somehere on Ann’s midriff, below the blisters where the cross touched her bare skin, her lost soul is spelling out the words HELP ME in raised letters.
When her abused husk is finally abandoned by this malignant spirit, Ann will be found wandering in the desert, mumbling the ten commandments through cracked lips.
The only christian thing to do at that point will be to send her to a very quiet place for a very long rest.
Hi from Vegas! There’s a Wes Clark party tonight, but I’m still on Eastern Time and I’m feeling too sluggish to go to a different hotel/casino.
It was great meeting many firepups; I now have faces to go with many names, though I’m sure I’ll have forgotten which goes with which by tomorrow for most of them. There were enough of us present that the introductions took a good chunk of the time (which was just fine.) As each person’s answers were read and they stood up, a murmur rippled through the room for most, reminding me of just how many great people we have here at FDL (and even more who aren’t here — I haven’t forgotten you guys!)
It was great to meet op99, mommybrain, oilfieldguy, as well as Pach, Christy, and (briefly) Jane. I know there were more as well (though I didn’t get to talk to everyone who was introduced) but names are already escaping me, so if I talked to you and haven’t mentioned it, it’s my memory, not that you weren’t memorable.
Oh, and I got to shake Joe Wilson’s hand, and talk to him for a bit!
Poor Ann. She looks worse than Dorian Gray’s picture these days.
Somehere on Ann’s midriff, below the blisters where the cross touched her bare skin, her lost soul is spelling out the words HELP ME in raised letters.
Spit-take!
HAAAA hAAAAAA HAAA!!
hee hee
heh
Jane is very slim and moves with grace. She is also very high energy–a live wire–but not in a goofy neurotic way. You instinctively sense her brilliance without her even having to speak, and when she does, your mind does not wander.
Christy is more steady, a deep thinker that has spent enough time in thought to have a trove of wisdom on her utterances. On her brow sits wisdom, and in her soul lives a low fire for what is being done in the world today.
Pach is so very focused it makes one feel guilty for not spending every available moment involved in actist activities. Him, more than any other has laid the steps before my feet and today he said left foot, right foot, left foot…
(First try is in moderation; let’s try a shorter version)

Peterr 141 – heh
you’re Bay Area, right? if you were to join me on the all-night drive, we’d pass through the Caldecott Tunnel east of Oakland. At least there wouldn’t be commute traffic at 11:00 p.m., so we’d avoid carpool tunnel sinned roam.
punaise
don’t forget me up here in boulder creek. if ya swing by and get me, i’ll help drive (and i can be helpful in case of speed limits)
forgot to include the “i’ve got the bb cd”
OFG 147 – nice reportage
As far as pictures go, Brangelina has never before encountered more cameras. I do not own a digital camera–remember, I’m a truck driver. I am certain in the days to come these will be posted all over the internets.
By the way TRex, whadda awesome post! I look forward to meeting you someday and hope to never piss you off. The pen is mightier than the sword at distances greater than four feet.
Peterr- Thanks for the link. It doesn’t look like John M. does the west coast… at least not anytime soon.
Oilfield and Redshift – oh well. And I was dealing with the envy okay…until it just got stirred up again. You lucky ones.
Suzanne, by all means, hop on the virtual Vegas express. Do you have a stack of free passes built up from your law enforcement days?
(hope I got that right)
Yeah, what Redshift sed. Hello Redshift!
Thanx punaise. Sometimes I feel my scribing might be too hokey or something–I try to put a little poetry in.
Hey Punaise, take 880 south on your way to pick up Suzanne, and stop by Union City to pick ME up! I have an extra thermos or two, and I know there’s a drive-thru Starbucks off Auto-Mall Parkway! :D
Oillfield Guy: THANK YOU for your descriptions of our Firepup Leaders. I saw Christy on C-Span and concur, so I take you at your word on Jane and Pach’s description.
Don’t forget me! I can drive too, to spell someone.
OFG – we like your “scribing” just fine. Keep ‘em coming over the next few days.

i am a certified graduate of the bob bonderant law enforcement driving academy at sear’s point raceway (back when that was its name).

Here’s a fun little diary from someone at YearlyKos.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/6/9/12232/79905
I’m looking forward to all the coverage this weekend. I liked Markos’ speech tonight. It was fun watching him put down the D.C. media, when a number of them were in the audience.
shoephone,
alas, I fly out tomorrow, so I am done here. I’ve been here since Saturday, preparing for my daughter wedding and all. Vegas is devastating on a budget, especially when you are the father of the bride. So, Ill miss all the meat and potatoes of what this convention is all about. I am just glad to get to meet people I’ve been “visiting” with on line.
I am one of those people who are so not starstruck by anyone. It was neat to meet Ambassador Wilson and when I shook his hand I told him I haven’t met very many Ambassadors before. I asked him if he had met very many Oklahoma truckdrivers and he admitted he had not. See, so that made us even.
Suzanne, you take the wheel! woo-hoo… (bb cd?)
sear’s point raceway (back when that was its name).
blast from the past – back when the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire was held across the way in the enchanted “Black Point Forest”.
By the way TRex, whadda awesome post!
I thank you kindly. With Ann, it’s hard to know where to start. She provides the satirist with, shall we say, a target-rich environment.
I look forward to meeting you someday and hope to never piss you off.
Oh, nonsense. I’m above all a gentleman, of course.
The pen is mightier than the sword at distances greater than four feet.
We live in hope. Perhaps she has finally earned herself a one-way ticket to Obscurityville. She’ll turn up in the police blotter every now and then for pepper spraying trick-or-treaters and trying to give antifreeze to people’s dogs, but otherwise silenced forever.
If she looked like K-Lo, she’d never have sold book one.
pun, you are a brave man. i’ve left fremont (back in the day) for vegas and back on (my)3 day weekend, blues blaring on the radio and a big double dog dare attitude. who wants be my spotter?
blues brothers cd
Didn’t see nary a one LBD (Little Black Dress) at YKos. Prolly 1500 folks and no LBD? wazzup? Cooter mucked it all up!
TRex, you are absolutely right about AC and her looks. Without her looks, no one would know her name.
TRex, re AC
I was going to say it’s the gift that keeps on giving, but that’s too bland…don’t look a gift-whore(s) in the mouth and all that.
the rift that keeps on drifting?
the snitch that keeps on bitching?
the glitch that keeps on itching?
the witch that keeps on twitching?
the wretch that keeps on kvetching?
I could go on, and I will. anybody else?
Suzanne, she’s only pretty on the outside, and now even that is starting to slip.
AC is the Transexual Transvestite from Transylvania who’s no fun to be around.
OFG
i think you are right about AC and the LBD not showing up in vegas. what woman in her right mind would want THAT comparison?
Suzanne – gotcha. you know I’m just woofin’, right?
Gnite firepups
pun, i was a’woofin’ back.
Punaise, I had thought about calling the post, “Putting the ‘It’ in Junket”, but scotched it.
She is the bore that keeps on whoring.
The cheat that won’t stop bleating.
The swine that keeps on whining.
The shill that keeps on shrilling.
AC, pretty? yuck. ooooooooogly through and through, to these eyes. re – pul – sive.
Her supporters seem to find her attractive. Remember how she was photographed for that cover – her legs were the focus, adding to that attractive illusion. As my dad used to say, she’s ugly underneath and the truth will out.
the hussy that keeps on fussing
the stiff that keeps on strafing
So tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. is the big Yearly Kos Plame Panel with Jane, Redd, EWheel, Murray et al! I signed up for the Air America streaming video thing ($10). Well worth it to see that cast of characters!
Punaise, you have to think like a republican. She’s pretty to them. Especially when you hold her up next to Mrs. Greenspan or 60 Grit.
You know Ann had a sleepless night or two when Michelle Malkin turned up, right? Then Malkin promptly demonstrated herself to be a total fuckwit and the threat-level went back down for Ann.
Punaise: I do all my web spinning at night and don’t even require coffee so could drive for hours…also if you go through the desert you could knock off an hour…or so…
…don’t think we should give Coulter all this attention, just ignore her, she is only doing it for the money and as yet no one has commented on her adams apple…????

spiderpaws on board! somewhere the moon just waxed to full, ever so briefly.
AC bashin’? it’s hardly our passion. just passin’ the time.
What I’d love to see is Coulter on the Colbert Report. I don’t think he’s mentioned her latest round of idiotic utterances, so maybe he’s trying to get her scheduled.
there was a comment or two a while back that took exception to the transexual aspect, out of respect for actual t-genders. so I steer clear of that angle.
the night is young, the moon is waxing… in Scorpio…if you can stay up til 3 AM there is a nice little moon neptune opposition that could turn us into dream burners…
this cartoon was right up my alley, from the current New Yorker:
grumpy old wife greeting sheepish old hubby at the front door: “you schlepped with her, didn’t you?”
Ann WHO? Who cares? Certainly not her, that is about anything but selling the little bit of shit she can scrape together and pawn off as ‘conservative’ literature, mutually exclusive terms if I’ve ever heard any.
well it’s the elephant in the room Punaise…we can only be so politically correct…you’ve covered every other pathology of this wo-man, why not go all the way…jus’ sayin’
spiderpaws:
is that a good thing or a bad thing? dream burners is a term i am unfamiliar with.
…if you are a writer or a musician you may want to do all you can to stay awake for this aspect Suzanne…like mainlining a creative jolt
spiderpaws, tough waters to navigate.
psssst…according to the backwards spelling of your name, you trade in communist internet addresses. whodathunk! (besides the NSA,that is)
g’night all,
all aboard the dream burner desert express

The SHREW that keeps on SPEWING!!
God, punaise, look what you’ve made me doooooooo!!
Why, god, whyyyyyy?
…wouldn’t want the NSA to start flying the night sky looking for me and my address book…good night to all the witching hour sleepy-time cinderellas
spiderpaws #183 – I sang about it (#59). I missed having four-part harmony though. Bach to basics, I guess.
TRex 194 – best one yet!
(sorry to have burdened you so :~)
buenas noches…
Yo Punaise, make sure you swing by Martinez, too.
blogger is now up and working for the first time today. it being down for maintenance/annoyance made live blogging at ykos pretty f*cking impossible, and made me look really smart, lugging my 6 pound laptop from the vegas hilton half a mile across the back asphalt parking lot of the riviera in 97 degree heat.
but it’s up and running, and anyone interested can finally see my live blogging post at skippy (posted hours after written, so what the hay can we say?)
oh skippy – that was fabulous, fanciful and funny! (well, you had allitertion, so…)
Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s installment.
….oooh shoephone #59: very interesting …a wonderful ditty which I will set to music in a moment…I ask only because one day channel surfing she was there and my man says who is the blond vamp there with the big apple, only dudes have those…to tell you the truth I didn’t know that…I find the fact that everyone seems to cover this up interesting…or do they?
thanks, spiderpaws. i’m going to try it.
punaise car talk takes me back- Oh the drive from San Francisco to Las Vegas is more than nine hours at high speed with one stop for ethel. I can see and smell the entire journey in my mind. Crossing the bay bridge through the tunnel. Finally out of traffic and into golden hills covered with white dancing windmills. Hammer down through Californias inorganic bovine urinary agro tract. My cup of Spinelli coffee runs dry. On towards the Bakersfield exit and fuel. Now the Sun is at your back and Death Valley under a night sky demands a quick stop for a galactic lurk. Persperation forms around the cash in your boots. Full speed now into the flats. I smell some military testing madness. Just a little faster joining the LA traffic whores with a special cd in the player . Suddenly Ms. Viva unfolds and insomnia is your best friend. Oh s**t my smoking jacket is on fire in the back seat! The call of Hover Dam and Flagstaff can be held off for a couple of nights.
My favorite route, go up and around Yosemite/Tuolumne.
spiderpaws – be sure to give some credit to Burt Bacharach for the original(!) I don’t usually comment on people’s sexuality because I just don’t think it’s any of my business. But where AC is concerned, she is so vile toward everyone I think her kharma preceeds her. Plus, it’s hard not to notice the um… protrusion on her neck.
Of course, I’d rather just cover my eyes or look down at the ground when she’s on television – the way I do when it gets to a particularly violent scene in a movie. Just look down, and keep eating my licorice til the bad part’s over.
Thanks Skippy for the belated update.
shoephone- Love licorice mmm
ER,AR
Thanks for the mental visuals. reminded me of driving along the 10, eastbound between palm springs and phoenix. it was 93 degrees at 3am and the desert was shimmery in my headlights. loved your description of the altamont pass.
Thanks.. Altamont, I could only recall Hayward. FDLers always take me back to San Francisco.
Bon soir, firepups. We be at Ykos and havin’ a too-good time. RevDeb,Pach, oilfieldguy, teddysanfran, bobbyg, op99 (wow, who knew she could play craps so well! i’m up $56 after her tutelage at the table!)The FDL Caucus was the most crowded/best attended, as far as I could see. Christy and Jane had everyone fill out a form with three questions: WHat do you listen to when you are on FDL? If you were on death row, last meal? Favorite movie? Screen name? After you filled out the form, you handed it to someone else, who gave you what they had in their hands, and passed it on some more.
Met Gen Wesley Clark, who gave me some news that really pissed me off and i hope it willpiss you off, too. I volunteered some time to work for a candidate who was running against Dreier. The day before our primary, Dreir did a push poll against my guy, with this question: If you knew his son had committed attrocities in Iraq, would you still vote for him?
Needless to say, his son did no such thing. Dreier went after the strongest Dem candidate in the race. Now Dreier ’s opponent, instead of being someone of substance who had a chance to beat him, is a batshit crazy woman(really, she is unstable emotionally) who will flame out in the homestretch and He will win, again.
mommybrain- wtg on the tables! I thought a few folks would still be up and at it.
Sounds like Gen. Clark is really making a fine impression all around.
Oops, premature postaculation. Not done quite yet.
Matt O. is fabulous, just the kind of person you want your son/daughter to be. Sweet as kisses, too.
TRex, I sure wish you were here. this is another snarktastic post. I do so love your writing. Mr. Mommybrain stunned me this afternoon by saying he would like to **** mAnn Coulter’s brains out – except she might open her mouth and then he’d have to barf, probably on her.
Oooh, oooh, MoDo is here, too! TEddySanFran bought her a drink. She’s tiny. And incognito. And really nice.
“Mommybrain needs a new pair of shoooooes!”
Thanks for the update. Good luck!
Fitz! of course — and Neil Young, too!
This country is in desperate need of someone to write a book for wingnuts: How to Deal With Reality (if you must)
When Coulter wrote (9/13/01), “We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity,” I assume she must have been talking about a somewhat different brand of Christianity from what that wimpy liberal Jesus (you know, the turn-the-other-cheek guy) originally had in mind.
Eureka Springs, what are you doing still awake? go to bed. I am. G’night.
Jaqrat, if I shop at Marshalls or Ross, I can get TWO pair!
mommybrain- I should be there : (
Thanks so much for the update!
The big problem is that Coulter picks her media appearances carefully: places like ‘Today’ where she’s ultimately treated as ‘fun’, or with sympathetic (w)anchors like Father Dobbs. And then she says she ‘can’t’ speak elsewhere. It’d be nice if she got punked and faced an interviewer who would say ’so, when do you make your porno? That’s the only way you’ll shock people now, isn’t it?’
The day before our primary, Dreir did a push poll against my guy, with this question: If you knew his son had committed attrocities in Iraq, would you still vote for him?
Wow. It’d be such a pity if someone push-polled in Drier’s district asking whether they’d vote for a man who solicited young boys.
Oooh, oooh, MoDo is here, too!
I saw a MoDoPhoto. Also, I hear that Natalie Portman is tiny and in attendance.
It tickles to “hear” the excitement of those posting from Vegas. Quite effective in reducing the sting of not being able to be there in person.
I’ve always wished someone with good religious credo’s would do a reality check of the psuedo-christian political along the lines of your 1:26. Jesus said to hate the sin but love the sinner. Guess they got that all mixed up, along with other teachings.
pseudonymous in nc – Where are photos?!?
Can I just say how exciting it is to be in the same room with 1200 other people who feel the same way I do? And know so much more? Next year, guys. Start saving now. It’s just too worth it. Freakin’ genius to have it in Vegas. We be having’ fun!
Jacqrat- tickles indeed
May I ask? Who is MoDo?
MoDo = Maureen Dowd, she of the NYTimes’ Select column that everyone wants to read.
Suzanne- the religious silence is alarming and surprises me more than polysilence.
Pseudo in nc -I’ll look for Portman, too.Loved loved loved her in ‘V’. My camera is busted, all I have is a throw-away, which, correct me if I’m wrong here, is not easy to download.
As we were leaving town, we stopped for gas. THe lady in front of us had a cool license plate, which I took as a good omen: BWAHAHA. Hmmm, where have I seen that before?
ER/AR – MoDo is Maureen Dowd, NYT columnist.
A friend and I decided long ago that if Murphy Brown had been a print reporter, MoDo is who she woulda been.
thx- Modos workin’ for me now. Could sell some…..Look whos lurking now T-shirts.
okay, if I don’t go to bed NOW, I’ll never make that 9:15a wake-up to stream the Plame panel.
Hugs to all.
sleep well jacqrat
ES,AR. you phrased it better than i could. it is very alarming and i keep wondering where are the voices.
AC says on Dobbs- libruls are the only ones to use human shields.
Arlen, Roberts, Gonzo just for starters
So do I. Last religous voices I recall were C.S. Kings service.
Markos’ keynote address is front-paged at Daily Kos.
Suzanne- I think it’s roughly twenty nine percent evangelical. are others, christians in a crusader mode or afraid?
wow, powerful keynote. thanks jwr. es,ar, they were either ignored or the messenger attacked. in any event, the message was trivialized.
update from YKOS media – CSPAN is taking the panels they are covering live on Friday along with the already planned live coverage on Sat – this is on the main CSPAN channel … wow!
and the amazing folks at LinkTV are producing high quality videos of highights of YKOS which will post here: http://www.linktv.org/yearlykos/ within about 24 hours after the fact – and then produce video versions with transcripts, etc at ForaTV
also, any FDL folks who see media mentions or coverage of YKOS – it would be great if you could hop over to dKos each day and post links or info on the Open Media Threads that our team member hrambo16 is setting up each day!
wish you were all here …
a bit short though strong, honest, and direct.
ps – markos keynote will be the first LinkTV video up … watch http://www.linktv.org/yearlykos/ for it – they are working on the production as I type!
thanks siun ! amazing work you are doing!
oh – one more – listen for Adam Burke’s report on Morning Edition on NPR Friday – he interviewed several FDLers … and he is amazing!
Thanks Eureka! our media team is fairly dancing on air … no sleep, no food, just the best vibe I have ever worked … and it’s all fueled by the amazing energy we see here at YKOS – folks, this is hope reviving, we’re gonna change things times … it’s frustrating not to be able to convey properly what this feels like!
I’m in Two minds over this Skank Coulter.
One, I just want to scream …”PLEASE STOP GIVING THAT FUCKING SKANK A PLATFORM!!”
But then on the other hand, I think that the more she talks and the more TV talk shows she is on then the more the general public will be turned off by her and the Republicans. They will think “if this is what they (the Republicans) are about then I want nothing of it!
If that chapter is any indication, that book is not writing. Its one big sick hate rant.
Libruls might turn violent, Ann? I think I am getting violently ill and running to the bathroom.
Moosleem prediliction for violence? My mind turns to some of the sanest and most gentle circumspect people I’ve ever met. There are peaceniks in many cultures.
Again she throws gay & pedophile together. *Vomit*
Plus she doesn’t get the difference between secular and state religion. *violent vomit*
Libruls “hate science” means that we *vomit* when we see her untrustworthy statistics that the Rethugs love so much.
Her writing is unbearable. Time for some alka seltzer. I think a shrink might have a better stomach for diagnosis. Not me.
sorry double post

Greetings to Vegas. Don’t forget us in NedLand while you’re there. Fellow supporters are honking at each others’ bumper stickers on the highway. Never seen anything like it before.
All in good time, my pretty, all in good time…!
Good Morning Firepups,
remember this guy ?
the obligatory 15 minutes and media shitstorm for his comments on 9/11 victims as “little eichmans” – followed of course by 3 investigations of professional misconduct and suspension by his employer
meanwhile, back in Infotainment Land, this intellectual emmbarassment is eagerly invited and “got paid” to run down the families
shocked, just shocked I tell you
Ward Churchill
Sorry, but she’s representative of a significant portion of the Republican Party: hate-filled, venom-spewing, murderous, and anti-American. She’ll stay popular until she’s put in a mental institution, and even then her fans will say her involuntary commitment was a liberal conspiracy.
Why do Republicans hate America?
…and Anne is no Ezra Pound ! (just in politics)
I;m confused
did I miss anything from YKos on CSpan yesterday ?
and are they going to run the Plame panel ?
TRex,I think I love you,lol.
I guess what makes me the saddest is that we have a large, lucrative market for hate and humiliation in this country.I don’t know how we got here, but here we are.You can’t hardly watch TV anymore without encountering it,though most of us probably watch too much TV anyhow.A good reason to shut the thing off, throw it in the driveway and run over it with your car.Repeatedly.
Lots of good and constructive books have come out in the last year that aren’t hateful or mean or full of lies, and yet they pick Her Nastiness and give her air time? It breaks my heart(again),it really does.
Randi Rhodes is saying she isn’t going to do cable”news”shows anymore. Her experience with The Dobbs pretty much soured her on it for good. That we can rarely have an actual discussion about issues we all face without it being Pile On the Liberal and Destroy Them speaks to how low we’re sinking.Christ,if I wanted to hear people screaming over each other I’d just call my Mom and get her hellfire and brimstone lecture about me roasting over a spit for all eternity(I’d prefer to be marinated in nice honey barbeque first, thank you very much. With a side of cole slaw,oh and dinner rolls, the soft kind).
Would these people be happy if we were killing each other in the streets while they watch?Over politics?I really wonder if that’s what they truly want.If they do want that, they aren’t patriots,IMO it makes them traitors.
Mornin, cbl. iirc the Plame panel is 9.30est. Cspan is showing some of the panels but I don’t know if Plame is included. Certainly it should be.
Way late to this party, but had to chime in.
One – as an “Anne-with-an-e” I HATE seeing Coulter’s name misspelled. She’s “Ann-with-no-e.”
Two – we should stop feeding the beast. Best response to questions about her should be, “Ann Who?”
Three – how is her mocking of the grief of the 9/11 widows any different from that of al-Qaeda? Really.
Four – this is a sad, lonely and bitter person, who will never likely have one ounce of the joy and fulfillment that those 9/11 widows had before their husbands were killed. There may be a human being inside her somewhere, but she is so consumed with bitterness that she will never have the things she so envies others for having.
Are you sure about those times? 9:30 am ET would be 6:30 am in Vegas. That seems kind of early…
Assumed the C-Span coverage was starting at 11:00 am ET because that would be 8:00 am in LV.
shoephone @ 155 -
John does a “Left Coast Tour” every January. Wait for it.
Hitting an old topic – I’ve now hear about AC spinning her “I have to have a bodyguard but the liberals don’t” bit a bazillion times.
Why doesn’t anyone every say:
Ann, maybe that’s bc you are a scared whiner and they cowboy up? They get the same threats and worse, but you are the one that has to whine on and on about it – you do the “victim” bit like the true pro you are!
whine whine whine whine whine – so monotonous
And who ever asks her about how she evidences her faith in Christ? It’s not a hard question to ask.
Morning firepups.
Had meetings late into the night last night and am WAY behind on the comments and have skipped ahead.
Just wanted to let you know that when iwok eup this AM, my home delived copy of LI Newsday said that the owner of the Bookstore in huntington is regretting having her and is not so sure he will ever invite her again.
He is torn between not wanting to engage in censorship (laudible) and not wanting to gratuitously offend everyone on Long Island (also laudable)
If she were speaking real, but uncomfortable truths, it would be one thiing; but she is just making stuff up.
I think O’Reilly and King must lurk on this sight b/c no sooner do folks here starting saying we should never miss an opportunity to hang her around republican/conservative necks by referring to her as “republican pundit Ann Coulter”, then suddenly O’Rielly and Peter King repudiate her.
HMMMM?
You have to be drunk all the time to be Ann Coulter. It’s the only way you can stand it.
we should stop feeding the beast. Best response to questions about her should be, “Ann Who?”
The beast is being fed by the Rush Limbaugh crowd and I fear ordinary middle class Republican-inclined Americans who think she’s kindofa funny, smart lady who tells it like it is. Her book appeals to the bully in everyone and she is #1. Ignoring and taking the high ground doesn’t work; it allows the Falwells and the Coulters to reach deeper into the closets. They need to be outed consistantly and loudly as the bullies and crooked racists they are.
Anne’s got it right – The only things moving at 6AM in Vegas are the caterers and liquor suppliers, restocking for the next day’s invasion.
Does Ann’s head look a little big for her body?
Happy-to-see-you waggin’ & woofin’ to you, Firelittermates!
Don’t know ’bout you lot, but I’ve had all the AC and head-on-pikeness I need for now, so I’ll offer some funky Florida flavor for your a.m. delectation.
Seems that Alligator Bag (K. Harris) has now run-off yet ANOTHER chief of staff
http://www.tbo.com/news/metro/MGBOTT9U7OE.html
and that Abramoff’s mobbed-up biz-pard Adam Kidan’s been telling the Ft. Lahdedah cops that HE thinks the triggerman who shot A&K’s rival Gus Boulis back in Feb ‘01 later got nailed by his own biz-pard in a dispute over their deli.

HI Mary, looseheadprop -
Well, it’s Friday, and as The Note would tell us, the grand jury meets today. Is the convergence with the Plame panel at YKos an omen?
Just wondering.
So, can anyone confirm that the Plame panel will be on CSPAN this a.m.?
Might have to play hooky for that one…
in the event, and only in the event of a repeat of yesterday’s technical difficulties -
have created a space for us all to meet up and continue this moveable feast-
http://windcatpond.blogspot.com
p.s. have hit ‘preview’ 3 times, I really don’t want to be anywhere near accusations of riding on the sizeable coatails of our brilliant hosts – it’s just a sandbox – you can bring pics of pets, kids and grandkids if ya like – oh god, here goes . . .
TRex, where ever did you find that completely unretouched and absolutely non-Photoshopped, yet 100% anatomically correct photo of Ann Coulter?
Great idee, cbl — thanks!
from CSPAN site:
The internet blog, Daily Kos, will host the YearlyKos Convention in Las Vegas, NV. This is the first convention of its kind bringing together bloggers & elected officials. Participants will include keynote speaker Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), bloggers, Ambas-
sador Joe Wilson, and others.
CSPAN3 11AM eastern
lhp – thanks for the Helen Thomas report. If you haven’t seen it, Waas has a pretty interesting article up re: Ashcroft and the initial Plame investigation with some indications of just how uncomfortable some where with the path he took. It laid out some of the difficulties and I think anyone who reads it does have to give a big nod to the initial investigators (FBI and legal) – the whole thing could have tanked.
cbl – what, was “EarthFerretPuddle” taken?
Good work though
Picture, if you will, the mass of firepups sitting at the feet of Redd, Froomkin, and the rest of the panelist, with Jane moderating the discussion. It’s question time from the floor. “Microphone #1 – go ahead.”
“Yes,” she says, holding up her laptop. “It’s more of an announcement than a question. I’ve just been looking at the web, and Patrick Fitzgerald is going to hold a press conference in 5 minutes.”
Can you say stampede?
Wouldn’t that be a great way to kick off a Friday? Have fun this AM, everyone!
Peterr, I still think having been on either Plame GJ has to be a really aggravating job. I hope they get duct tape and peanut butter as side benefits.
Thanks Trex, she is heinous, a poor excuse for human and certainly not animal – poor beasts. The jack ass, doesn’t deserve to have her mug placed in its heads stead.
She’s a monster, a ghoul, a zombie, the image of the Night of the Living Dead that Christy posted last week is more like it.
An Angry Old Broad @ 251, how does this woman get air time? It’s unbeleivable, we need to let the networks know that this type of discourse is unacceptable. i think she may have stepped over the line this time. I have faith that the good people in our country will finally, at some point (WHEN?) will recognize it for what it is and say ENOUGH.
I also wanted to thank you for sharing your story about your son the other day. thank you for taking that stand. we can talk all we want, but it’s through direct action that we will change the world and show are children the way. You are walking the talk. Good on ya!
I thought the alternative universe name was watercatpond.com . . .
Computer-backwardness question, OK?
If I go to CSpan3 in one window and keep FDL in another, can/how do I achieve a split-screen on this IE of mine? Or will it just be CSpan’s audio along with FDL’s visual?
Thanks –
Thanks twolf1.
CSPAN3, huh?
Damn, don’t think the rabbit ears can handle any more coat hangers to try to tune that one in.
Siun @236 thought there might be additional coverage.
Sure hope it comes out on Betamax soon.
new thread – new boasting and bragging
looseheadprop (257) — Nah, too much credit there for the bookstore owner, the alleged avoidance of censorship. One would not be charged with censorship if they refused to allow speakers who demanded the obliteration of a minority group, would they? That’s hate speech and not protected — let alone tasteful or to be encouraged by enabling.
Hate speech. That’s what emmanates from Coulter. There is no excuse for it. If the excuse is that she needs meds to stop it, she really ought to be evaluated for hospitalization. We progressives need to call it what it is, right on the face of it.
Lotus, you can “right size” each screen by clicking the middle icon in the upper right hand corner of the IE. Size them to half the screen and put one on the right side and the other on the left.
lhp, thanks SO much for sharing HT with us! As the day goes on, please do feel free add any other tidbits as they revisit you!
CT Bob,
have you seen what Josh/TPM has to say on Lamont’s candidacy ? Loooking good!
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.c…..008690.php
Mary @269,
I had the same thought about the start-up to the investigation. It also gives me more hope that Fitz isn’t alone in wanting some convictions in this whole deal.
Today, it’s a CIA operative that gets outed for political expedience. Tomorrow, it’s an FBI undercover agent. Next week, a DEA investigator. Who’s next?
Front line folks who often deal with those serving undercover have got to be pissed about the way Plame was thrown under a bus. Career CIA has made their displeasure known, in pushing for the investigation. Career FBI has done the same, in going by every line in the book in pursuing it. Now career DOJ, led by Fitz, is taking their turn.
Who say’s government service is dead? Karl, Dick, Dubya, . . .
Thanks, T! You’d think even I would know that by now (shaking head).
Mary – just once – once! – I would like someone to say to Coulter, “You’re making money by calling the liberals “godless;” let’s talk about your religious faith.” I’d like to hear someone say, after reading a long list of the slurs she casts at others, “How do the stones you cast at others square with your faith – presumably Christianity, although some have wondered about that – and how is what you do emblematic of a person of faith?”
She’s just an empty shell who is consumed with envy for all the things she doesn’t have and will never have, and I think if more people treated her with pity, she would probably implode, and we’d never have to hear from her again.
I read the chapter exerpt. Geez. She riffs on the supposed “liberal” composting toilets versus the good, conservative flush toilets. She’s fucking crazy.
oops 9:30 vegas time obviously :)
Mark at 76
What would you have us New Yorkers do t put a stop to this. NY has been carrying the rest of the US for years. Since I was a kid NY has sent at least $1.25 in taxes to WAshington for every dollar we got back. Sometimes more than that. We sunsidized the construction of the sunbelt, the interstate highway system and a host of other programs that not only don’t benefit us (we already had Highways from Robert Moses.
New york has been a doormat for a generation. Look at the Port Authority of NY/NJ which is really just a welfare system for NY to subsideize Jersy.
The NY side if NY Harbor is a natural deep water harbot, yet we have shut down alomost all of the fright to our side of the haber and pay a freakin fortune to dreg the Jersy side and send all those high paying blue collar jobs to the Port of Elizabeth.
Do NOT get me started on the clean beautifulm cheap PATH trains of commuter rails in Jersy vs. the dirty antiquated expensive NY City subway syetem oir the distater that haas been allowed to befall the Long Island Railroad.
I could go on for pages. NYC provides the economic engine that drives this country, yet politicians from evry other state take shots at us whenever they have nothing of substance to say.
Playin Whack a Mole with NYC has been a national sport for my entire lifetime with a HUGE exception after 9-11.
I remeber being in Rockefeller Centerhavinf luch with my daughter after the Radio City Christmas Show in December 2001.
We got into a conversation with some tourists who had decided to forgoe giving Xmas presents that year and instead spend their christmas money taking their entire extended family to NYC as a show of solidarity to pump some money into our tourist industry. They hugged me just for being a native New Yorker.
But they also said that they had never been to NYC before and until they came here, they thought NYers werre like space aliens or something. That we were horrid and deserved to be ridiculed. They were shocked to find us friendly, fun and just like them.
Every time NYers stand up for ourselves we are described as rude, brusque, pushy(which I think has anti semitic undertones).
So NYers tend to just suck it up and get on with life. Someone has to tend to business or else the ecomomic engine will stall and the rest of the nation will starve. NYers aren’t brusque just really busy.
‘iirc’
Apparently idnrc (did not recall correctly)
Anne had a fair number of defenders on WBZ (Boston) last night.
Consensus was the compensation paid to the widows and other survivors was:
a.) too much — and quoting Mr Colber’s show “your money, that you earned!”
b.) required survivors silence indefinitely — the bitches won’t stay bought
c.) not needed at all when you are as rich as some of those Jersey widows.
The upshot of all this bile-filled resentment — or resentment filled bile — was that Ann was right on target, and should speak out against 9/11 survivors more.
Coulter is Zarqawi in a mini-skirt.
Davis X…
I called in to Paul Sullivan and called her a childless, unmarried lawyer who is jealous of married women…
Nothing like returning ad hominem fire with ad hominem fire.
-GSD
cbl (281), there are still a lot of people who have only sort of heard Lamont’s name but don’t know the issues regarding well, how bad Lieberman’s record is on well, a lot of stuff. Hopefully that’ll change soon. Recognition rising, let the education begin. Mwahahah
Eureka Springs, AR 204 – great evocation of a road trip – thanks! I’ve never done the full stint to Vegas, but otherwise you just described our trip back from Death Valley this spring, in reverse.
California’s inorganic bovine urinary agro tract.
no shit. well, now that you mention it…
(the nine hours came from yahoo maps – I was skeptical)
TRex – one more for ya. This sorta violates the spirit of my 187 last night, but what the hell:
CS Ann – Special Victims Eunuch
(although “SS” Ann is more apt)
have fun a YKos today, FDLers.
big shout out to siun!
Apparently there are many ways to ho for money. Make no mistake that is her chosen path. Although most hos are a bit more discreet and protective of their identity, her particular specialty requires name recognition. OK then, we have brand recognition; Ann Coulter does it for money and it’s nothing personal. There does seem to be a budding element of Thelma and Louise brewing though, so she should watch herself carefully before she totally ends up screwing herself.
As long as Ann doesn’t do anything too egregious, like get busted for doctor shopping, or pay millions to hush up a sexual harrassment charge, she doesn’t have to worry about losing her base.
Heck, she could probably sacrifice a baby, as long as it was a godless liberal baby, and still keep the hearts and minds of her fans (of course, millions of those hearts and minds could fit on the head of a pin and still leave plenty of room for Ann’s conscience and her love of truth, justice, and freedom).
She hates the widows who lost husbands in the terrorist attack George Bush DID NOT STOP.
Alas as she said, she will not go away and the whore media will continue to shove the Gorgon from Connecticut in our faces. Though I do wonder who will be the next object of Coultergeist? I expect she will scourer old age homes, nurseries, burn units and orphanages to find deserving targets of her intellect and ah, wit.
I’m not surprised that she has such a devoted following, this is the fascist core element, the post Morton Downey blowhards that get off on the provocation crackpipe; provoking normally, calm decent people into barking, yelping, angry caricatures of themselves. They flout decency with that smirk and easily play their bait and switch games. They win when they get the reaction.
Just look at the Coulter and Chimp smirk, it says it all. They are the Michael and La Toya Jackson twin destroyers of a rational, civil discourse.
“There is no violence being done even against Ward Churchill calling all of the victims, not the four Jersey moms, “little Eichmanns.”
This statement about WC’s comment is, of course, A LIE.
His comment was SPECIFICALLY that SOME of the victims were little Eichmanns.
He said that in order to criticize the idolizing embrace of the ‘victims’ en masse, which is pretty close to her recent, dolt-headed hatespeech, except that Ward Churchill meant that we shouldn’t forget the victims of those little Eichmanns, and just act like they were blameless in life as they were victims in death. Coulter just likes to bash the victims of Bushco’s policy, because it lets the Bushco machine off the hook.
One presumes that she knows she is lying. And although lying is not fatal to the body, the soul is long gone once the white-supremacist gives themselves up to the soulless hatemongering spiral. The only way she can save herself now is to kill someone so she can drink the blood.
And don’t think she isn’t thinking about it.
Ann Coulter may be our last defense against the scourge of widows and grieving mothers.
looseheadprop (287). Agreed. As a person who used to live in NYC and still feels some loyalty, I agree with all you said. It doesn’t take much to realize how vulnerable NYC is, being there post 9/11-ish (the crying shame of having the finest & proudest in Cantonese cuisine having “specials”) and during the last blackout (candles and flashlights and no refrigeration). NYC seemed like an island.
I don’t know what’s more depressing: Coulter’s latest foaming-at-the crotch exercise in self-promotion or the mainstream media’s largely restrained, oh-so-”civilized” response to it. As she’s repeatedly demonstrated, Coulter can’t hold her own in a real argument and has absolutely no interest in “dialgue.”
The typical reaction among those who don’t happen to share her mental-health issues is to tsk-tsk that we shouldn’t reduce ourselves to her level by engaging in vicious, mindless namecalling. But Coulter’s whole career is based on just such vicious, mindless namecallinhg, and to try to engage her at a “higher” level is a waste of time, like using Marquis of Queensbury rules to take on a street thug.
What Mary McCarthy once said of Lillian Hellman—”Every word she writes is a lie, including the ‘and’s’ and the ‘the’s’”—is triply true of Annie.
Well, almost, anyway: during a recent debate with Al Franken, she whined, “Well, to sum up your view of me, ‘Ann Coulter is a lying whore.’” For once, that’s a least a half-truth: the first half (a given).
As for the “whore” part, no one watching the debate could figure out what dank little corner of Ann’s id that remark popped out of, since Franken had made no references to vast empty Sahara that passes for Coulter’s private life. Frankly, the idea of Ann Coulter fucking anything other than the dual-action Totally Blissful vibrator she stores in the third drawer of her night table (under that stack of the National Review magazines)—block that visual, please. As the French maxim has, “You can’t look into the face of the sun or of death for too long without going mad.”
Which leads me to ask: Does Ann have some gender-identity issues? She recently and—surprise—incorrectly stated that there was a website devoted to her called AnnCoulterIsaCunt.com.
No such website exists, but surely this vulgarism for the female genitalia presupposes? She looks and talks like some of the streetwise pre-op trannies I’ve known, all of whom have more brains, looks, and courage than Coulter will ever be able to muster.
My own suspicion is that her increasing bitterness—in fact, outright dementia—can be attributed to the fact that she was robbed on Oscar night. Clearly, her deeply moving performance in Transamerica put Reese Witherspoon’s riff on June Cash to shame.
Ann, Ann, Ann—just let it go. That’s the only way you’ll ever begin to heal. And remember, there’s always next year. (Hint: I hear they’re casting for a remake of Myra Breckinridge.)
You people can masturbate all you want, but everyone out here in America understands Coulter’s point: that the Jersey Girls are whoring their losses for political gain, and that their whoring is a rhetorical tactic intended to silence critics of their leftist propaganda. Virtually all politically-aware people in America understand this, having suffered (or championed) the tiresome tactics of leftist subversion for decades now, and I imagine most agree with Coulter’s assessment. Certainly you do, since nothing I’ve read here gives any indication that any of you actually feel sorry for these womens’ loss; just that you’re mad that she’s identified your game.
Gosh, conservativenotrepublican, “whoring” isn’t probably a word you should be using quite so loosely in connection with Annie “Spread-’Em” Coulter, since by her own admission she has a creepily warm and fuzzy affinity for that epithet–certainly more than anyone else in this leetle throwdown. Even as we speak, she’s out there peddling her boney ass at your local Barnes & Noble on on the talk-show circuit “for political gain,” not to mention a very pretty penny from the sale of yet one more poisoned (albeit slightly bruised) from the Coulter pronocopia. Who said, “Hypocrisy is the tribute that virtue pays to vice”? By that definition, conservativenotrepublican, you must be the most “virtuous” person in America.
By the way, thanks for taking a coast-to-coast poll that proved “everyone out here in America understands Coulter’s point: that the Jersey girls are whoring for political gain,” yada yadda yadda leftist subversion commie feminazi abortionist fag niggers spics cha cha cha. (Ooops, sorry, for a sec there I was channeling your mentor Smokin’ Joe McCarthy.) Remind me again: exactly what kind of survey techniques did you use to determine this consensus? I’m not talking about the daily nerdfest at the water cooler of wherever you work, or the circle jerk you and your fellow sub-Neanderthal blog buddies spooge cyberspace with every night.
No, perhaps they’re the same techniques Coulter used when she insisted, during that debate mentioned above, that “good things are happening in Iraq.” That got a huge laugh from the audience—and likewise would from the nearly 70 per cent of “everyone in America” who thinks that things aren’t exactly going well Over There, according to those vicious lying liberal-media polls. They’re also the same near-”everyones” who think the Decider-in-Chief has maybe fucked up the war irrevocably, among the many other mistakes he’s made during his disastrous kingship.
By the way, the Decider and his stable of Haliburton hos were the ones who originally opposed the formation of the 9/11 commission—whose existence we owe largely to efforts of women like the Jersey Girls and their families. Unlike you, they were and are still on speaking terms with the truth.
So please do continue to “imagine that most people agree with Coulter’s assessment” of the Jersey girls or anything else, the key word here being “imagine,” since, like most righties, you assume the private little dramas taking place in the claustral mazes of your brainpan have something to do with what the rest of us call The Real World. Unfortunately, The Real World relies on something called “evidence,” for which conservatives have a notorious aversion, mainly because it tends to yank them out of their onanistic reveries into the disturbing complexities of, well,. . . The Real World. Thanks also for crystallizing in succinct form the pathetic megalomania of the powerless and the marginalized in which “me” becomes “everyone in America.” If wishes were horses, then intellectual beggars like you could ride. Ride ‘em, cowboy!
I am inclined to think that Ann Coulter is not really genuine. I find it hard to believe that her statements represent a real opinion. Is Ms Coulter playing a part, a political actor who has taken on the character of an ultra conservative?
When Howard Stern was a young radio personality he says that he wanted to get ahead in that business, and the way he did was to be more outrageous than anyone. Ann Coulter has consistently taken extreme conservative positions and raised the temperature, Slander, and Treason being examples. Ann Coulter said that if we wanted to solve the terrorism problem, we should just convert the Moslems to Christianity. Is it really possible that anyone could seriously say this except in jest? Well, Ms Coulter did say this, and it gets attention, gets her on talk shows, helps sell her books, and keeps her in the celiberty spotlight. The approach worked for Howard Stern, and Ann Coulter is the political “shock-jock.”
I really cannot help but watch Ann Coulter. I just want to find out what she is going to say next. Ann Coulter’s vileness about the Jersey Girls raisings the rating of any program that will run clips of her interviews. Ratings come first, and Ms Coulter can provide them. I would watch just to be outraged, and hear the host and others say out outraged they are.
