I’m so sorry, love Gandhi and all, but I’m so freaking sick of that saying it makes me scream.

Just wake me up when get to the “winning” part, please.

HinTN - 139

Gore “gave up” as you say when the whole of the known world, led by the MSM, commenced to clamor that the sanctity of the Constitutional process was being defiled by continuing the contest. I thought then and I think now that Gore did a very classy thing. He looked at the stacked deck and gracefully left the game. Have you heard what he says now about Bush. NOBODY knew he could be this bad then.

Exactly.

Plus, what do these people who think Gore “gave up” in 2000 think he should have done once the Supreme Court voted in favor of Bush? Announce that he and anyone willing to join him would invade DC and take over the White House? I mean, really.

I hope Gore runs, but I don’t think he needs to make any sort of decision till next summer. He needs no name recognition really except among young voters who were not politically aware in 2000. And he could stand out by raising caucus and primary money in small donations on the net — thus able to be less dependent on the PAC’s and big check writers. That could be a huge selling point in 2008.

Two news stories today that deserve attention. Salon has a Sidney Blumenthall piece about how George the Elder tried to recruit a replacement for Rumsfeld a few months back, resulting in a Father - Son spat of huge dimensions, and Junior George wrapping himself more tightly around Rumsfeld. Sidney obviously got some very inner circle sources to talk, and I would imagine that Bill Clinton might have been a source too — he is afterall now fairly thick with George the First. Apparently GHWBush recruited a 4 Star retired to take the job — and when it didn’t play out that is when the Generals all came out and went public with criticism. Interesting story that needs follow up.

The second story was on ATC on NPR. It has to do with a “save the world” trip that Kissinger recently made to Moscow. It was in the wake of Cheney’s speech blasting Putin in Vilnus, and an unfortunate encounter Condi had at the UN trying to negotiate terms for Iran where she and Bolton blew off the Russian Foreign Minister. Many details seem missing, but apparently George Senior somehow got involved, called Putin — and the upshot was Junior got on the phone and talked to Putin, and then sent Henry Kissinger to have a weekend with Putin at his Dacha. The result was the offer to Iran and a huge back-down by Condi, and a slap down of Cheney and Bolton. If true, there is much more to this story than we know now — I hope solid reporters are working it.

With both stories I am struck that these matters had to come from sources very close in to Bush himself. And good lord, Kissinger!!! It is almost as bad as digging up Nixon and sending him to see Putin.

08 does seem a million dog years away. What about what the pissers fear most NOW?
Stuff like deep investigations, righteous accusations, where is phase 2 and etc.

The energy lobby is furiously lying like Mike McCurry to step on Gore’s message.

In all fairness, it isn’t the entire energy industry. BP (among others) has been pretty good, for a big corporation, about recognizing GW and taking some responsibility for it. Exxon/Mobile is the big villain here. Has there been a corporation as evil as Exxon/Mobile in modern times? In any times?
