well, mccain is a gangster. a fraud. concentrate on his philandering. he makes clinton restrained.

the fascist right wants to ignore this history. and so do the fascist-lites[demtillians]. why is that do you think?

People have suggested laughing at our enemies rather than taking them seriously. And why not? Somebody do me a bumper sticker that says “McCain would be a good McPresident”

The big difference in McCain’s younger and older selves is in the nature of the enemies they each faced; the younger McCain had only to contend with attacks upon himself, not his family. Who can say how he would have reacted as a young man in that situation? Perhaps he would have reacted like he is acting now. Perhaps his younger, more idealistic self would have thought the constant attacks upon his family’s character too much to bear, and decided to drop out. It’s not like he didn’t know these tactics would be used against him. McCain knew about Rove’s taste for slime, and as the lead republican alternative to Bush in the primaries, he’d have a big fat target on his back.

That’s it McCain, hug that sinker a little tighter, it’ll all be over before you know it!

McCain creeps me out. Not only is he scary because of what he stands for (or doesn’t stand for as the case may be) but because I think there is a real chance we could end up with him in the WH.

Having said that, if you don’t know, McCain cannot raise his arms any higher than he is doing in that picture due to his injuries in Vietnam. So it is really unfair to make fun of his pathetic excuse for a manly hug. That’s what he can do. It sure is tempting, though.

Re Russ Feingold

Anyone wanting to hear Russ Feingold in action should go to his website and click the audio link to his speech to the National Press Club from a ~a month ago.

Call it the Voice of Reason. Call it refreshing common sense in an increasingly upside-down and Orwellian world.

Call it what you want: but do give it a listen. It’s the real McCoy.

The WaPo interview was ok, only skimmed it and have to read it in full tonight.

——-

As for Byron York, given that he’s lived up to his very long track record again this week, is possible to cease and desist from citing him, surreal-ly, as some sort of font of journalistic integrity or accuracy?

Jason Leopold may have been taken for a ride; he seems to have been wrong on a number of points. It may be some time before we can get a definitive autopsy on what actually went on.

But to cite Byron York in order to measure Leopold makes no sense. Next time, pick a (real) journalist. Next time, pick someone who is reputable and objective.

The reams of info available on York’s track record should have stopped anybody from using him as the measure of Leopold; York’s citing of Carallo put this way, way over the top.

I suggest every time someone writes Donald Rumfeld, WHHBF*, it is followed by an acronym asking why he still has his job. Just like someone might put credentials after their name.

Here’s a few suggestions.

why is he still on the job as SecDef
WIHSOTJAS

why the hell is he still Sec Def?
WTHIHSSD

*why hasn’t he been fired
WHHBF

why does he still have his job
WDHSHHJ

EPU,
The version I heard was about George Bernard Shaw and a certain society lady who was eager to make him one of her conquests. He asked if she’d sleep with him for a thousand pounds. She blushed and giggled and fanned her fan. He then asked if she’d sleep with him for a pound. She then snapped, “Mr. Shaw, what do you think I am?” And he replied, “Madam, we’ve established what you are. We’re merely haggling over your price.”
