Jane,

Just wondering what your problem is with Casey. I must have missed your writing describing what it is.

K8 - all my prayers for your little friend.

Alice is wrong to suggest that citizens go sit in the corner and let the adults run the country,

Never meant to suggest anything of the sort, and sorry if I come across as thinking I am smarter than anyone in these threads or lefty blogosphere, don’t think anything of the sort. It is just I don’t think this particular effort is well advised.

I am grateful for the leadership Firedoglake took on the attempted filibuster of Alito. I am also grateful for Firedoglake’s iniative in working with local bloggers.

Yeah, I am opinionated and a longtime volunteer. I don’t have much use for political consultants who lose elections, and I always carry my precinct, including 1980, 1984, 1988 any many other years that weren’t too good for Democrats. Sorry you don’t like my posts, but I do know how to deliver my vote.

Can’t accept responsibility for who you’ve backed who have fucked up the country CFG? Tom Coburn would not be in the Senate without the millions from CFG and Cheasepeake energy. Of course they love nutcases and would try to go after any Rep not sufficiently rightwing.

FWIW - and I hope I’m not duplicating anything above because I haven’t read all the comments.

Carpetbagger* Chris Toomey, now heading the Club for Growth, is a Rhode Island native.
He made gobs of money doing globe-trotting investment banking for billionaires (who, he won’t say, but suspicion centers on East Asia and the Middle East) and retains close ties with them, now feeding their money into the Club for Growth. *Toomey moved to Pa. (some might say “specifically” or “at the behest of his money folks”) to represent the 15th CD (a former industrial nexus around Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton). Prior to moving there, he had no relationship with that area. Then, if you remember, after one or two terms in the House, he was the White House’s designated primary challenger to Specter on ‘04, forwarded as the true conservative alternative, and came within a hair’s-breadth of winning.

I wouldn’t put it past personal pique - he may think he, not Lincoln nor Olympia, should be in the Senate. Nor would I put it past his money folks’ feeling any tendency away from robber-baron capitalism thwarts them, and they’re willing to spend to beat on anyone opposing them.

So, Toomey could be the next generation/iteration of Abramoff/Santorum and K Street.

And, if one wants to not support him, don’t eat at Red Robin - Toomey owns it, according to my information.
If o

Either my browser is a screw up or I am or both. Opera. At any rate, keep trying to post my sympathies to all pet owners.
I am still mentally recovering from my own cats’ struggles with kidney faliure, thyroid conditions, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. I will sympathize quietly. I still can’t spread the ashes of my cat-baby. I think you guys will have more luck than me.

Mrs. K8, I offer sympathy. I also wish I could pitch in my two cents, but I am still mentally recovering from my cats’ struggles with kidney failure, thyroid disease and inflammatory bowel syndrome. In terms of pain, the only thing I can think of that small animals can take are barbs and valium in small doses because of their little livers. (Ibuprofin and Tylenol are a big no-no.) I think ativan is given to human cancer patients for the nausea. Friends with dogs tell me it’s strange going to the pharm to fill a script for Sparky, Spots etc., but what the heck. These are family members.

I read every night until Midnight, and yet my first post is not a political one.

Mrs. K8 - I have been where you are, and I do understand your deep caring and concern. I’m sending you and your pup healing white light.

I care.

The Club for Growth types, as far as I can tell, really are that level of blind stalinist ideologues. We’ve picked up several seats in the VA House of Delegates in part because they’re determined to “punish” Republicans who aren’t pure anti-tax, and who compromised with Warner on the budget the year before last. So they keep getting people out to the GOP primaries and getting *serious* wingnuts nominated. (I could tell stories…) They’re absolutely certain, no matter how often they lose, that everyone really agrees with their anti-tax extremism.
