[…] * Iran was again in the sights of those trying to build the case for a US military strike when it was reported that Iran had plans to force non-Muslims to wear colour coded garb to identify them, in the same manner as Jews were required to wear yelow stars in Nazi Germany. The story was even confirmed by the Simon Wiesenthal Centre. Bloggers have stepped in and done the fact-checking- and have debunked the non-Muslim colour-coding tale. […]

[…] Iran has a Jewish member of Parliament? Who knew? This seems highly unusual, given the portrait painted by the warmongering media – of which the National Post is one – of an Iranian state that is the closest thing to the reincarnation of Hitler’s Germany. But then again, perhaps the depiction of Iran as the new Fourth Reich has little, if anything, to do with reality – and is, instead, part of a campaign to gin up another war in the Middle East. But who, or what, is behind such a campaign? […]

Welch Williams (136) –
You’re just confusing yourself. The holocaust really happened. The badge law in Iran didn’t. As for Israel, you ever hear the story about the spinmeisters who cried “wolf”?

But just thought you all might like to know that there are more than a few Canustanis who are not happy with the fact that we have become the latest branchplant in operation obfuscation for all nations known as ‘Whirlitzer North’.

Hello, I often read this site but have never posted. It’s a great site. Your post on this black psyops story on Iran is great. I just wanted to interject something here. You and some of the other posters seem to think the Simon Wiesenthal Center has some sort of credibility, at least when it comes to the Arab or Muslim world. Those of us who’ve worked on the Palestine issue for years know this is not true. The Wiesenthal Center represents some of the most rigidly islamophobic likud-ist type attitudes. Their credibility is at best seriously compromised on anything having to do with Muslims.

The founding co-chairman of the Wiesenthal Center is Roland Arnall. He (with his wife and their companies) are among Bush’s largest political donors. He is the founder of Ameriquest, which in the process of being investigated and litigated for predatory lending practices in 30 states.

The Wiesenthal Center, or at least a substantial part of it, is a right-wing organization.

Look at the website. They have not corrected or retracted the smear in which they’ve played a major role, nor will they. There is a difference between holocaust remembrance and the holocaust industry, and the Center crossed it a long time ago.

One must remember that there are independent scum out there, too.

But, in this particular case, seeing as the State Department Spokenitwit chose to comment on this story, and use the chance to call Iran, if the story was true, “despicable,” it is obvious that, yes, this is a US effort.

For example, on the same day, the Spokesweasel commented that he had never, ever, in a million gazillion years, heard anyone talk about China joining the G-8, and so he had no comment.
