Don’t forget global wealth destruction and domestic ruin. The GOP’s final richly-merited catastrophe is falling into place. Electoral accountability is not out of the woods until the crackers and snake-handlers that still support Bush have been reduced to desperation. It’s going to hurt — but remember, the worse, the better.

Neurophious (119)

That Americans are “unsettled” was Bush’s explanation for his low poll ratings.

In Rove’s mouth it turned “sour.”

Tom - Chicago (63)

I keep writing the same thing, too, on my own blog, and where ever I comment, but too many people are still more concerned with the policies they want to have implemented, rather than asking how we can make sure the votes get counted. Under normal circumstances that might be the wiser course, but we have had interference with voters and their votes during the last three elections. But the Republicans and their media won’t report on this story, except to repeat their talking points about silly conspiracies.

Everyone gets to vote– All of the votes get counted.

That should be priority number one for everyone that we endorse or intend to vote for. If they can’t get on board with that, what can we really trust them to do? Personalities aside, we aleady know that Democratic positions are generally more popular with most Americans than Republican positions. Now, if we could just get all of the votes counted, instead of asking people to vote, having them vote (barring any supression)– and having just enough of their votes disqualified or not counted, or changed, or lost, only to lose again– we would have something to show for the effort.

Actually, the macarena is 10 years old this year.

It’s even older than that, actually. It was hugely popular in South Texas back in 1993.

The rest of America took a while to catch on. ;)

Here is a key graf from the Lieberman story:

The independent candidacy question poses a dilemma for Lieberman. He can’t wait until the primary ends to decide whether to run as an independent in November, because that would leave him no time to collect the necessary signatures to make the ballot. But if he declares he will run as an independent, he risks losing crucial votes from the party faithful in the Democratic primary.

This really puts the squeeze on Joementum. It’s a bit hard for Democrats, though, too. If Lamont looks really strong going into the primary, then Liberman will jump ship and run as an independent - bad for Lamont’s chances in November. So I guess I hope for a Lamont/Lieberman primary to be close enough for Lieberman to hang on.

Don’t get too cocky or complacent about the “trouble” these bastards are in.

The 70% of America who allegedly “disapprove” of Bush have been gamed-out thoroughly by Unca Karl, who secured the patent on Lee Atwater’s “wedge issues”, and while he should be worried about impending anal prison rape… he ain’t. Because while no mortal human being could flip that 70% back, thus ensuring a get out of jail free card for the entire administration … Karl happens to be Satan.

He had to find something that the greatest portion of that 70% had in common with the Kool-Aid drinkers, and by friggin’ Jesus, he found it. The aforementioned brown horde.

This one’s got formerly reasonable people choosing up sides between the solvent and the poor; the white and the not white; Us and Them. All you have to do is read the comments on, say, Huffington Post, from established anti-Bush “liberals” (as opposed to Pretend Democratic trolls!), who are up in arms over the “immigration crisis”.

You know. The Earth-shattering, nation-destroying crisis that started at the beginning of this month.

This one goes right to the DNA programming of white America. And it’s the perfect storm. Dem candidates who don’t sign-onto beating up the desperate poor will be crucified. Those who do will alienate everyone Democratic with a drop of Hispanic blood in them, plus progressive Dems. It’s fucking gay marriage in 2004.

Karl will bust up that 70% “anti-Bush” population, like Triaminic busts up phlegm. You’ve been warned.

Poems about War

The Teeth Mother Naked at Last
by Robert Bly

I

Massive engines lift beautifully from the deck.
Wings appear over the trees, wings with eight hundred rivets.

Engines burning a thousand gallons of gasoline a minute sweep over the huts with dirt floors.
The chickens feel the new fear deep in the pits of their beaks.
Buddha with Padma Sambhava.

Meanwhile, out on the China Sea,
immense gray bodies are floating,
born in Roanoke,
the ocean on both sides expanding, “buoyed on the dense marine.”

Helicopters flutter overhead. The death-
bee is coming. Super Sabres
like knots of neurotic energy sweep
around and return.
This is Hamilton?s triumph.
This is the advantage of a centralized bank.
B-52s come from Guam. All the teachers
die in flames. The hopes of Tolstoy fall asleep in the ant heap.
Do not ask for mercy.

[RH says: I snipped a large portion out here. We try not to publish entire works, but Robert Bly’s poetry is amazing and you should experience some of it in its entirety. I’ll include another snippet below, but really the whole of the poem — and an entire volume read in its inclusive context, will stay with you forever.]

….
Now the Chief Executive enters, and the press conference begins.
First the President lies about the date the Appalachian Mountains rose.
Then he lies about the population of Chicago,
then the weight of the adult eagle, and then the acreage of the Everglades
Next he lies about the number of fish taken every year in the Arctic.

He has private information about which city is the capital of Wyoming.
He lies about the birthplace of Attila the Hun,
Then about the composition of the amniotic fluid,

He insists that Luther was never a German,
and that only the Protestants sold indulgences,
He declares that Pope Leo X wanted to reform the church, but the
liberal elements prevented him.
He declares the Peasants? War was fomented by Italians from the North.
And the Attorney General lies about the time the sun sets.

* * *

These lies mean that something in the nation wants to die.
What is there now to hold us to earth? We long to go.
It is the longing for someone to come and take us by the
hand to where they all are sleeping:
where the Egyptian pharaohs are asleep, and our own mothers,
and all those disappeared children, who went around with us
on the rings at grade school. . . .

Do not be angry at the President?
he is longing to take in his hand the locks of death hair:
to meet his own children, dead, or never born. . . .

He is drifting sideways toward the dusty places
