Lieberman will bolt and go independent. He will succomb to Rove’s blandishments to do so and become the next secretary of defense. It will enrapture AIPAC and Israel, and rid this bankrupt administration of the architect of the gross mismanagement of the invasion of a soverign sountry. Tell me again why it’s bad that Lieberman should quit the Democratic party. At least if he does it sooner, he won’t waste tons of Dem party cash on his own race. Right? Am I missing something? And Lamont is going to have to face him in August or November. Sure he won’t have Republicans voting for him in the primary, but if he bolts, that can’t be a good thing for him in the eyes of Democrat voters.

Rat fink that he is, I’m sure he’ll bleed the party dry in the primaries before bolting. If he wants to run as an independent, what does he have to do, and when does he have to have it done?

It would be sad if Hilary and Schumer still endorse him as an independent. But they can’t be happy about that prospect. I don’t know about Schumer, but I think Hilary is at least smart enough that what’s happening to Lieberman could happen to her too. So she’ll either fight for him like it’s her own fight, or she’ll run from him as fast as she can.

Maybe we need to start a petition for Senator Schumer. We should ask him to commit to support the winner of the CT Democratic primary, whomever that is.

The mere fact that we need to ask that in a petition would a strong statement of our distrust of Schumer’s misplaced loyalties and agenda.

I think the best thing out-of-staters can do is to volunteer for phone banking, call friends and family who live in Connecticut and engage them in discussion about why Ned would make a truly great U.S. Senator and, if possible, donate, here at FDL’s Act Blue page.
