We cannot build a unified country by inciting people to anger, or playing on anyone’s fears, or exploiting the issue of immigration for political gain.

Bush is like the alcoholic who just want to be sure he makes it to his next binge. “Just get me through this speech, just get me through the next poll. Then, I (or my enablers) will think of something to get me through the next crisis.”
Never underestimate a subliminal appeal to racism.

Rover is finished. Evidence, this lame excuse for a policy speech. I was never in the crowd that thought Rover was a genius. I just thought he was dark hearted and pathetic, and very lucky. But as Molly Ivans once said, that kind of luck doesn’t last. People are turned off because of the all the negative shit of the past 6 years. Since 1999 Rover has been guiding the way this country reacted to situations, by manipulating the press etc…etc… Look at how he spoke to the press people who asked him questions today, like they were his minions, a bunch of losers. WELL, he is right, but it looks like they MIGHT, be getting tired of his shit. Let’s see.
OK, we’re gonna sent soldiers to the border, but,
[1] it’s not “militarization”
[2] they won’t have police powers
So, it’s SHOCK & AWE lite-lite, with empty ammo clips?
This’ll do wonders for whatever’s left of National Guard morale.
Bush’s attitude was that all immigrants who try to cross the Mexican border are criminals, drug dealers or terrorists. He was definitely talking to his base. Militarizing the border will turn the American southwest into a police state.
in politics, when you go hard negative, the trick is to appear positive. The GOP is using the Preznit and Laura as the “nice faces” for what will be a rough, rough campaign. Gay marriage is going to be a hot topic again so Mary Cheney and Laura get trotted out to be reasonable and sensitive while the RNC will aim very hateful targeted messages to the base voters.
the Preznit will try to seem to be compassionate yet tough while the RNC and GOP Congresscritters will holler about Mexican dope smugglers, gang-bangers and rapists: all taking jobs away from real Americans. And all that Mexican welfare costing tax money!!!

^^^ HELP IMPEACH TODAY
Keep the pressure on Congress… Talking about impeachment wakes people up… They question, it’s a strong motivator to get people thinking. It also lets Congress know how intense the dissapproval is for this President… They seem to be a little slow on the uptake. So please:
1) Sign petitions if you have not done so
2) Send a letter to Congress (both Senators & House rep)
3) Send a copy to the media
4) Enlist friends and family to help, ask them to chip in time
5) Spread the link around, email it (with a request to forward) post it on a blog, or in the comments of a news story.
Help out!!!
Thanks :)
Here is a suggested question for the WalPo overnight poll: “Do you stand with our President in using military force to prevent terrorists from coming over our southern border?” Or maybe a more simple question: “Do you support President Bush in keeping lawbreakers out of our country?” Hopefully, they’ll have desireable results to feed to the pundits tomorrow morning.

Somebody said the counted 30 plus blinks at the top of the speech. That was the same time he used the word ‘law’ about six or seven times.
My favorite line was: “We are a nation of laws, and we must enforce our laws.” I’m assuming the next phrase — “… as long as we’re talkin’ about you people and not me” — was somehow cut off the teleprompter text.
Hearty congrats to GWB, who just cut his base by 50%.
Well done!!
The downside for republicans of gerrymandering is now becoming clear. They have congressional districts that are packed with wingnuts who won’t be satisfied with anything less than massive deportations, a 2000 mile security fence, and a shoot-to-kill policy at the border.
Bush didn’t help himself with that crowd.

“I had hoped Jason Leopold would just go away. It’s clear from his own statements in various places that he’s struggled with some substance abuse and mental illness issues. He has my sympathy for this. But he’s now become a bigger story because he’s made such grandiose claims about having deep sources all through the government and somewhere among the investigators or investigated in the Valerie Plame outing. So it’s time to come forward and give you some evidence with which to assess Jason Leopold’s credibility. I’ll refrain from making conclusions, but it’s worth putting out there for people to assess…..”

“Hot and Cold Running Wilson Intelligence”
by emptywheel
“eRiposte wrote a blockbuster post last week that I’ve been meaning to return to. But particularly after reading Dick Cheney’s notes on Wilson’s op-ed, eRiposte’s post merits a lot more attention.
Basically, eRiposte shows that the Intelligence Community changed its interpretation of the value of Joe Wilson’s trip report, finally using it (and the anecdote that former Prime Minister Mayaki had been approached by Iraq’s Baghdad Bob to set up trade relations) as a solid justification for the Niger claim on March 8, 2003….”
emptywheel has a dynamite table in her article. It shows visually how has time passed, the intelligence community accepted Wilson’s
conclusions. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I didn’t see the speech – off at a Boy Scout meeting – but my 13 yr old son is now reporting to me that he spoke for 20 minutes but that it could have been over in 5.
Repetition, Repetition, Repetition. To quote my son, “It was all about the border. He explained his plan. I was kind of disappointed that there weren’t any new Bushisms. It was all about the border. I was kind of surprised that he said that the new border policy would keep out terrorists.
I haven’t heard anything about terrorists or would-be-terrorists being caught at airports or trying to immigrate into America.
After that, it was the repetitiveness. He kept saying the same thing using different words. He went into a story about he and Laura visiting a Marine without US citizenship, who was wounded very badly in Iraq or Afghanistan. He asked if the Marine had any wishes. The Marine answered that he wanted a promotion for the Corporal who saved him, and US citizenship. God Bless America.”

I wonder how Americans would feel if the Canadians put up a wall across their border and had armed troops patrolling it to keep Americans desperate for prescription drugs and free health care from trying to enter the country illegally. Wouldn’t we feel it was a slap in the face even if the Canadian prime minister went on television and said “Americans are our friends”?

It’s funny, as in ‘odd’…this ‘president’ is going to create cognitive dissonance in the ‘base’ with this formal Oval Office speeck/appearance, I think. We’ve (as a nation)and they’ve (as a ‘base’) gotten used to the Pres cutting brush down on the Crawford ranch, or riding that bike, or just a couple weeks ago w/Brian Williams on the Gulf Coast, sleeves rolled up, the umpteen town hall charades, comments ‘off-the-cuff’. Even in press conferences, he’s a loose cannon…I wonder if the ’serious, self-contained, teacher/father’ formalized behing the desk is an image that sells anymore for this ‘product’. I don’t think even the base will buy this particular version anymore.

Was reading the last thread just now. This from Montag in the comments:
“Until we start asking ourselves why the people of the most economically and militarily powerful nation in the world are so afraid, of practically everything, we’ll never get to the point of asking ourselves, with candor and honesty, why it is that we allow the government to usurp our rights in the name of protecting us.”
Truely — this is the issue we all need to address in our daily conversations with friends and coworkers and in our demonstrations and letters to Congress-people. What are Americans so terribly afraid of? Why do we need to be so afraid? I know 9/11 was a horrific blow to us, but it must be more than that.

I do not object to sending some troops down to the border. My concern with the border isn’t the Mexicans; it’s al queda. Al queda wants to hit us again, and they’re very clever. The borders represent the easiest way for those guys to get inside the US.
Bush’s failures (aming the hundreds) is that he should of beefed up the borders in the weeks after 9-11. And if he hadn’t have gone off on his fools errand in Iraq we’d have the resources right now to tighten up the borders.
But sending some troops down there is ok with me. I have no problem with it.

Quick comment before hitting the sack {4:30am comes pretty quick here on the southeast coast}. IIRC wasn’t there a story a few weeks ago about drug dealers aided by the Mexican Army in a fire fight on our side of the border. The Army was protecting the drug dealers as they brought drugs over the border and ran into some of the Minutemen.
What happens when the National Guard has too face the Mexican Army protecting drug dealers as they smuggle drugs into our country. We could have an International Crisis over this as Mexico may assume any fire fight as an Act of War against Mexico.
Bush is totally insane and needs another war to bring the sheep under control. The Congress better do something real soon to stop him or our country is doomed.

As an answer to my own questions at # 89, I think Rove, Rumsfeld and company are exploiting the uncertainty that many Americans are feeling as a result of historic demographic and economic changes. I think we need to explicitly charge the Bush administration with this fearmongering.

Exit strategy=stage LEFT
G #98: might be a good point. But BushCo wouldn’t support an increase in border patrol over last several years -opposed an increase of about 10,000. So, was that decision wrong, or not? If there is an emergency now because of manpower shortage, we know where to look -right back at BushCo. So now Bush wants credit for a stopgap of 6,000, who are not even trained to do the job? And it is national guard, are they not primarily for state emergencies? Or is outright highjacking of other peoples’ money effort and time, and exposing them to unwanted risks for no good reason for ineffective half assed effort standard operating procedure for them now.
They are going to try to milk this fat old dog for a little War-Preznit Political Cap’tal?

G, 98: “The borders represent the easiest way for those guys to get inside the US.”
Borders to the south, borders to the east, borders to the north, borders to the west. Al Qaeda has no shortage of ways to get into this country. If we seal the southern border, there are three left. Shall we build a wall around the whole country, line it with soldiers? That still leaves the sky. Remember 9/11?
The nature of terrorism is such that there are no borders that can keep them out. A true jihadist does not fear dying, in fact, cherishes the idea. There is no border patrol that can keep out determined terrorists.

Why, if post-9/11 border security is such a suddenly serious concern, aren't we sending the Guard to the Canadian border -- it is, after all our longest and most porous border, and its many open spots do not entail dangerous and potentially lethal desert crossings. Perhaps more to the point, the one terrorist who did try to sneak into the USA with explosives as part of a plot to attack a major metropolitan area was caught on the Canadian border.cbl @85: “O/T hey guys – is there a way to save an entire haloscan thread and paste it somewhere for future reference? “

axlegrease, not sure what you are doing lumping Joe Wilson in with Leopold?
I linked to what I think is a very fine evaluation of Leopold’s recent “work” at 7:03. IMO, Leopold
stealsuses what he reads at FDL, tnh… without attribution. I think the great plameologists are what he means by “multiple anonymous sources.” The possibility that Fitzgerald had sealed indictments against Rove has been out there for some time. Jason’s sources are “anonymous,” because he chooses not to name them. IMO in addition to the attention, Jason wants to brag that he was first to break the news of Rove’s indictment. He’s definitely the first to attribute Rove’s indictment to unnamed sources. Nobody else has those sources and they won’t “leak” to anyone except Jason. IMO that’s because they don’t exist. If you’ll read emptywheel’s latest, she gives well-deserved props to eriposte, Joe Wilson’s conclusions gained credibility with the intelligence communities despite Dead Eye’s best efforts.

Well, they talked about the characters in the soaps as if “they” were the neighbors, and I had to go and ask, which house “they” lived in. I didn’t really fit in.
One neighbor was from eastern India. Even then (late 1970’s) the “natives” thought the Indian was a terrorist.
I had a McGovern for president sign in my window. Rumor had it that I had a cache of weapons in my basement, and the FBI agent that lived next door would let his wife talk to me.
Other than that, it was fine.
131, Jay: I respectfully disagree. Al Queda is, in my opinion, THE prime threat. And certainly from the foreign angle. And, they’re more dangerous than ever. Bin Laden gave them the “go-ahead” in his released speech of January of this year.
Any internal threat….well, that might be Al Queda, yes. But those guys (foreign al queda) are making efforts to get in.

I’m so impressed Bush managed to piss off everyone here: sane people who recognize that sending the National Guard is at best sincerely silly and at worst a violation of posse comitatus; and wingnuts who think he hasn’t gone far enough! (Landmines?!!?) Deliciously, the reason the Guard is not actually going to do anything is probably precisely to avoid the posse comitatus issue!
Pissing off everyone, for precisely opposite reasons, shows true skill at incompetence.
BTW I tuned in for the false start, the first time I’ve watched him in years, and just had to turn off blinky-boy. I couldn’t take more than fifteen seconds of that. The pic captures it perfectly; the footage could easily be the most damaging presidential footage I’ve ever seen, including the infamous Pet Goat.
Angie @ 138:
Why, they even sing their national anthem in two different languages…American, and ‘Other’, if I recall correctly.

Ghostman, just be thankful that you are not a part of my family. My 89 year old mother would have beaten you to a pulp long before now, or run over you with her 1967 VW bug.
150: well, I agree that Bush HAS played up the fear game for selfish and misdirected purposes. And that’s shameful on the part of this WH. But I don’t underestimate Al Queda for a nano-second.

Leslie 110– why, what was it like??
I’ll answer for Leslie, since I lived there for almost 20 years….
It’s typical suburbia. Ranch houses, 1/4 acre or so, typical 3 bedrooms, blah blah blah…
There’s just no ‘there’ there. No downtown, nothing much to do, NOTHING to see, yadda yadda yadda…
At least when I was growing up there was farmland around still, you could get out in ‘the country’ a little bit- went back a few years ago…suburbia wall to wall…

My Canadian Mum says it’s a great country.

The 9/11 attacks were the most spectacular success Al Qaeda has ever had — but that was because AQ were sub-contractors for the real perps.
Google ‘ISI 9/11′ — Pakistan’s ISI was involved up to their eyebrows; probably Saudi Intel, too. In fact, the only country in the Middle East that wasn’t involved was Iraq.
Al Qaeda is a threat, but they are a two bit operation. Unfortunately, Bush has metastasized Iraq into an Al Qaeda Graduate University . . . and that Genie is NOT going back into the bottle.
Just remember that “al Queda” means “the base”, so I guess your pResident has been taking it the base, only the wrong one.
You might want to consider Canada like a leg-hold trap. Once you’re caught, there are only three ways out: a kind person where you are; allowing yourself to die; or chewing your leg off to get away. And Canadians can kill with kindness.

Have a friend at work who just came back from his one week vacation in Germany. The company is representatively diverse and he is Indian. Traveled down the Rhine (or is it Rhone?). He told me he was surprised by the question “Are you Muslim?”. Was in a town of 40K and he and his friends were the only “brown” people around.
Wanted to cry (not appropriate at work) and just laugh about the good fortune of being in the Bay Area. But I couldn’t help but add “its not like this in Lousiana.”
One thing to keep in mind:
ALL the hi-jackers had visas.
They were all here legally
Building a wall and/or sending in the NG won’t solve a thing – they’ll find a way around. What they’re doing is trying to cure the symptom and not the disease; it’s like trying to cure a lung cancer cough with cough syrup.
Remove their economic disadvantages back home and the “problem” goes away
New thread– TRex in the house!
Missed the speech, but never expected anything particularly new.
Heard some commentary later about ID cards; does he really think those can’t be counterfeited?
National Guard at the border, but without weapons? That’ll be real effective. If it works there, Rummy will probably try it in Iraq.
Why isn’t anyone talking about the Canadian border? Might be something to do with the fact that the brown people are all on the southern border.
Any statistics on the nationalities of those who do cross from the Mexican border? Are they all Latino? Any Middle Eastern types crossing over from Mexico? I’m betting they come in on international flights, through Canada, just like some of the 9/11 hijackers.
If – and I think it’s a big if – Bush’s numbers would inch up a point or two over this, they’ll come right back down after Rove gets that love letter from the grand jury.
But, if the base ain’t happy, Bush is SOL.
Time to start branding Bush’s base as the radical right-wing religious extremist xenophobes they are. The more points of comparison we make to the terrorists we are supposed to be fighting against, the easier we ride a tidal wave of victory in November.
chip:
If the governors refused to cooperate (and I think that is unlikely) the Bush can simply federalize the national guard.
Perhaps the most famous example of this is in 1963 when Kennedy federalized the national guard to desegregate the University of Alabama over the vehement objection of then governor George Wallace.
But as I said, its unlikely. For reasons I have a hard time fathoming, the consensus among the American people seems to be that having 6,000 National Guard troops temporarily stationed on the border in support, surveillance, and fence building roles will solve the immigration problem.
It won’t. No more than sending us a $100 check solves the high gas price problem. Hell, even 60,000 guard troops on the border wouldn’t solve the problem. But frankly, there’s bigger fish to fry. So let them send the troops. The coyotes will simply route around.
And the sad thing is, this knee jerk reaction doesn’t even take into account that a large number of illegals get into the country not by jumping fences or wandering the desert. They come through legally at border crossings and then simply overstay their visa.
But when your only tool is the military, ever problem looks like a war.
The second half was about the undocumented workers and in a way the Muslim extremists too
Gotta run
BTW new thread
Bush is so disconnected from his own personnal history. He literally doesn’t remember the things he says from the past that can come back to haunt him.
No wonder he has no creditability.
Bush is a loser president or not.
Europe had Kings, and a lot of them were also losers.
Say..Maybe he’s related to them in some way.
Well, he just lost the remaining 29%.

I’m betting they come in on international flights, through Canada, just like some of the 9/11 hijackers.

I just thought of another “fond” memory: One night, the electricity went out and the only thing that worked was the portable battery powered radio. The only thing we could get was Nixon speeking from the Oval Office. The next day, I said to one of the neighbors that I was absolutely deranged that Nixon was all I could get. She said,”I thought it was rather comforting”. I kid you not!

The American public should be careful what they wish from a narcissistic decider like Bush and his ilk.
If anyone has ever lived around a narcissist or a borderline, expect the opposite and much manipulation of their power….nothing is more frightening when they start to lose control.
OK, let’s see if we can close the tag so.

BTW, you have been EPU’d. Repost, maybe?
Sorry al-Scooter, that was me. Didn’t realize I had to close the tag at the end of a post. My bad.
Still waiting for an answer from Anne or anyone wrt #169.
Anne @ 164:
Frankly, I’m surprised that anyone would give such a base canard any credence whatsoever.
If memory serves, some of the hijackers did spend some time in Canada. As others have mentioned, all had valid visas, and traveled freely in and out of the country for a long time.
My point was that we have a northern border, as well as a southern border, and if your concern is security, you do not concentrate all your effort in the south.
If your concern is Mexicans, well then, I guess the Mexican border is the place to be. Just don’t recall any Mexican terrorists…
BCian_ya, 169. I am guessing it doesn’t matter where the t- came from.. According to Richard Clarke’s book it was done legally with proper visas and at least one of the t- was being tracked by intelligience. Apparently intelligience didn’t bother to warn the consulate where said t- applied for his visa. In other words, there was no sneaking around. Nice huh?
Intriguing description of Canada 159.
I know this thread is EPU’d, but that’s ok. George A, your post at 102 got me thinking…
“What happens when the National Guard has too face the Mexican Army protecting drug dealers as they smuggle drugs into our country. We could have an International Crisis over this as Mexico may assume any fire fight as an Act of War against Mexico.”
Hmmmmm. A reawakening of The Drug War? A toasted Admin looking for anything as a wedge. Imagine a few large drug busts on the border (maybe real, maybe staged), a gunfight involving big drug deals (again, maybe real, maybe staged), a death or two, a bunch of criminal brown-skins paraded across the nightly news as yet something or someone else to BE VERY AFRAID of…? I put nothing past this bunch.
Re: Hoffman Estates. I saw the Jerry Garcia Band at a small ampitheater there, I believe in 89. Is it now a suburbia hell?
Anne @ 180:
Your memory appears to be faulty.
WaPo:
Additionally, there is no mention whatsoever of the hijackers using Canada as an embarkation/debarkation point in the relevant passages of the 9/11 Commission final report …
However, if you are able to substantiate your claims with previously unrevealed facts, please feel free to do so.

“[…] by playing on anyone’s fears, or exploiting the issue of immigration for political gain.” George W. Bush, May 15, 2006. Â
To join the annals of most hypocritical words ever spoken.
EPU’d.
Bush interrupts prime time to give an important speech (only his second on a domestic issue) to announce his grand solution to the illegal immigration problem. He’s going to send 6,000 National Guard troops to secure the border (although they won’t actually be intercepting attempted immigrants, just providing support). Wow. 6,000 troops should go a long way toward securing the border. What? They will only be there on two-week rotations? Oh. That’s only the year-round equivilant of 231 troops. Guess it wasn’t such a big announcement, after all. Stop looking at Fitzgerald–stop looking at Rove–stop looking at the NSA illegal domestic spying–look over here! 6,000 troops!
some of the G man’s finest:
1. The borders represent the easiest way for those guys to get inside the US.
2. oh, I think we need to beef up the Canadian border as well. And really tighten up on container inspections on the coasts.
3. But those guys (foreign al queda) are making efforts to get in.
4. beef up the manpower and blanket the skies with uavs…very do-able.
We cannot build a unified country by inciting people to anger, or playing on anyone’s fears, or exploiting the issue of immigration for political gain.
That’s only snark-worthy if you presume that he’s speaking about a desire to build a unified country. By doing all those things, he *can* build a nice *divided* one.
And thanks to you tryggth #53 #137 #161 #174 you are seen by me to be a kind and wonderfull human being which I pray with my 5 childern & 13 grand childern can make the U.S.A. A BETTER PLACE Thank you for being YOU
Do Bush and Rove and company honestly believe that they’re going to somehow pull Bush’s presidency out of the gutter with this “immigration” nonsense? Is this really all they’ve got anymore?
And to try to link it to “Nine-Eleven”… what a crock of pure, uncut shit. The hijackers didn’t crawl under a fence or through a drainpipe at the Mexican border. They were here on visas, due in a large part to the revolving door policy we have with Saudi Arabia.
Seriously… is this really all they have anymore? I mean, when Karl Rove is reduced to stealing bits from South Park, the party’s pretty much over for that crowd, wouldn’t y’all say?
Where’s Bush’s “double” when he’s needed?
I watched Bush’s speech awhile ago, and didn’t understand a word he said.
I need an interpreter. Or at least another shot of whiskey. Make that a double, bartender.
So, why wasn’t Bush’s “double” sitting beside him in the oval office?
Bush’s “double” could have translated what the moral and mental midget Bush said and given us the true meaning behind Bush’s words.
Oh well, maybe next time. (Bartender, make that a triple).
I’ve got some thoughts on what this particular gaffe actually means at http://nettertainment.blogspot…..medy.html.
Is this true?
J.Leo*old says that Andrew Loyd Weber is bringing ‘ Alien’s – the musical’ to Broadway?
Seriously there is an article I’ve had in high rotation on my local Indymedia. It’s called ‘ Reichstag security – a modest proposal’…whoops, sorry, ‘ HOMELAND SECURITY – A MODEST PROPOSAL’. ( The C-net King James version ) Inside the screensaver looking at the chimp. Thank you David Holtzman – 0ct 2002. What a headsup! I should have full disk encryption any day now!
Watching the decider last nite lie again to us, is insulting to non brain dead legal citizens. Five years after 9/11, only NOW we will more closely watch our borders??? What a tragic joke!! We are a law abiding nation???….. this with more than eleven million illegal residents, DURING WARTIME, walking around in this country, milking social services with open marching gusto?
The true nature of capitalism is revealed. Greed trumps law, so we are now inundated with slave labor that don’t even speak the language.
Lou Dobbs…thanks for trying to keep our country from having to speak spanish.
Thanks Max-1 (COMMENT 171). I needed that spiritual uplift.
Another revealing quote…always revealing their playbook…the George Costanza opposite rule.
That’ll teach me to blurt out stuff without checking first…sorry. Am embarrassed and chagrined.
Can I still make the point that we have two borders, and national security issues would seem to be served in protecting both of them. Do we even have any ides how many people enter the country from the north?
John Casper,
Am EPU’d but maybe you will chcek.
Jasaon Leapold is now saying two contradictory things. :
He says that he has two “sources close to the investigation” Which is term of art for someone IN the investgation, an agent or government lawyer, or someone specifically acting as an agent on behalf of said government person.
Then, he turns around and says one of these sources is a high ranking former State Department official. Well, that might be a witness, but it ain’t “a source close to the investigation”, unless ole’ Jason is suggesting that Colin Powell or Armitage are secretly the puppet masters behind the whole investigation and that Fitz is sharing information with him/them in a two way street.
How very unlikely is that?
The solution to the border problem is obvious. Round up thousand of those people-eatin’ gators from Florida and turn them loose along the border.
This would become a deterent to illegals and perhaps save countless Florida joggers at the same time.
Anne @ 196:
Indeed, security issues are a bilateral concern, as the traffic goes both ways.
Within the 9/11 Commission report that I referenced are several testimonials regarding what has been done to improve security while maintaining the pace of international trade between Canada and the U.S. Of course, that’s not the only source, but it is an adequate starting point.
That information also addresses the numbers game. It is my opinion that the INS has a very good idea of how many people are crossing the 49th parallel, daily …And knows who they are, or purport to be.
I would put forth the assertion that the issues with these two border crossings are somewhat different…In the case of Mexico, undocumented foreign nationals who can then be assimilated into local communities, finding employment and evading the scrutiny of the INS in doing so…And Canada, where a vastly smaller percentage of passport/visa holding foreign nationals may be crossing using false documentation for criminal purposes, such as the Millenium bomber case in the Pacific Northwest. Of course, this is a generalization, thus either state can be interchangeable save for the numbers involved.
So we have two results that require attention, both of which depend on having open and equitable relationships with either country, and being capable as a nation of addressing a complex problem without dabbling in Procrustean solutions.
The northern border has very long stretches of barely inhabited forest…miles to cover…not so easy to monitor with human power. However, the winters can be brutal..20 to 40 deg below zero, snow. In the summer we have another great obstacle..hordes of mosquitos, noseeums, horse flies & sand flies to name a few. Once someone escaped from detention, hid out off a main highway in the swamps but the authorities didn’t spend too much time searching for him…just waited him out. He stumbled out in a day or tow, totally bitten up, crying uncle.
So now our cowardly snakehandling Commander-in-Chief is appealing to the last remnants of his support, inbred retards whose major life achievement is being white. Deploying on the Mexican border, rooty-toot-toot-tooo! What a dick. Betcha he manages to suffer thousands of casualties.
