Just a reminder, tomorrow at 5pm EDT/2pm PDT we’ll be having a discussion of the first half of Before the Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus by Rick Perlstein.  Digby will be joining us to moderate the discussion.   Named one of the hundred best books of the year by the New York Times in 2001, it chronicles the birth of the modern conservative movement in the 1960s.  As Thomas Frank said, "Before the Storm is one of the finest studies of the American right to appear since the days of Hofstadter.  Read it and understand where the mad public faiths of our own day came from."  Please stop by and join us, political junkies of all persuasions are sure to find it fascinating.  We’ll be reading Part 2 for the following week when Rick himself will be joining us.
