Sadly, the Democrats have as little respect for the U.S. Constitution and the rights of the people, as the Republicans.

It’s quite a sick game they have us locked into – vote for either party (but never for a third) and you get the same thing – BIGGER GOVERNMENT!!!

When are we going to wake up? Today’s government devours rights – it doesn’t protect them. Gridlock (or a third party victory) is the best we can hope for.

Too Many Voters…

We don’t need more voters, we need more intelligent voters. And the way to accomplish that is to make it as difficult to vote as possible….

In a great history (”When Genius Failed”) of the collapse of the Long Term Capital Managament hedge fund (which threatened the whole of the US market system a story is told of a wise old Wall Street trader who was asked for advice when LTCM investments had lost more than 50% of their value, he said:

“your done, once they see they can get you below 50% they know they can go all the way.”

Now, just add in a little Fitz, Abramoff, torture, debt, tax cuts, and illegal wiretaps….

I agree with BrooklynRaider #42

On these issues the Democrats should not only NOT DEBATE these bogus issues, they should ridicule it by saying we have several crisis proportion problems in America and all the Republicans can offer is to divide usâ€. Perhaps that explains why so many letters from my district call the Republicans, Repugs. Then the democrats talk about their agenda and don’t even respond to Republican talking points. When the Tweedy’s of the world ask about Gay marriage, Democrats respond by

“It’s been 5 plus years now and where is Bin Forgotten?†“When Middle Class Americans are facing a lower standard of living, higher gas prices and a war without end—you want to talk about Gay Marriage? When our men in uniform have been sold out to enrich corrupt defense contractors, you want to talk about Gay Marriage? When Katrina victims want relief, you want to talk about Gay Marriage. When Democrats are being stymied when trying to get answers, you talk of Gay Marriage? Have you no shame? Chris (or other shill’s name here), it’s sad to see that you continue to repeat Karl Rove’s talking points!†Put the Media Whore’s on the spot and intimidate them for a change!

Teak111—(#94):

I couldn’t agree with you less. One never starts by undermining your own position. The GOP will say the equivalent of “Hold your nose†for us. Let them go negative and focus on what you want to do in a positive sense.

Mayan (#95):

Let the GOP say what they want about how bad it could be with a Democratic Congress. Our response is simply “can we afford any more years of the governance that the Republican Congress has give us?†Then just reel off the disasters they have brought us, to remind folks of how much worse it could get if we allow them to continue. Rove’s strategy of fear should be used to turn the tables on them. Then hammer it home with, “The Contract On America promised us that we would get cleaner government with a Republican Congress and these guys make the 94 Democrats look like choir boys.†This has the added bonus of turning the language on them. Every time a Republican says “we are doing this for the American peopleâ€, we should respond with “is that for or to?†Or when the Republicans talk of the risk of Democrats in control, we should respond with: “Under Republican Leadership, we’ve had the CIA turned into Fema and neither can now organize a 2 car paradeâ€.

JaneS (#107):

I thought that Fitz was going to announce a press conference for the following day, before he rolls out the indictments. My guess is that the GJ will vote, the clerical stuff will be finalized that late afternoon, the defendants notified on Thursday as the Website lists a press conference on Friday.

Cbl (#116)

I heard that the 4th one was working under cover for the CIA—so I wouldn’t say who it was if I new. Considering what the Plame outrage is really about (aside from the lying).

Twolf1 (#121)

Before we get there, we need a series of well reported polls that 1st ask: Do you believe we should have a comprehensive review of how we got into the war? If, after learning that Bush deceived us, would you support:

1.Censure
2. Impeachment
3. No action at all.

Push that poll through the minds of most Americans for a few months before you push any strategy that says “we will impeach Bushâ€. Don’t get me wrong, I want to see Smirky wearing an Orange Jumpsuit with Karl, Dick, Rummy, etc.

Splash (#165):

In terms of Bush pardoning Satan, I’m sure that Karl Rove’s pardon is already being planned!

These numbers are not as hopeless as they may appear. Without question the most important number is the war on terror 46%. A political case can be made that nothing else matters much. 46%is not low enough as long as doubt can be cast on the alternatives to what the repubs are doing. Then, if just a little confidence can be restored, voters may well decide to once again stick with the devil they know. That is very doable as the Democratic strategists will once again mostly advise staying away from GWOT and try to avoid the repubs strength by talking about other things while agreeing with the repub approach to terror. Creting a circumstance in which the Repubs can regain the necessary 6+ percentage points by knocking down strawmen they themselves construct. This is not tennis where one plays to the opponents weakness. The repub’s strength has to be attacked and more doubt about it created.

#64:

“While definitely inelegant, I totally agree with Mary Cheney’s sentiment. IT was hella awkward when Kerry and Edwards mentioned her sexuality out of context…”

What utter fucking bullshit.

Fact: Dick Cheney’s party has made cash dollars out of queer-bashing. The “homosexual agenda” is the wedge issue from Hell, as gays and lesbians are the last remaining social segment to whom it’s “okay” to deny American rights (just as although Constitutional rights were guaranteed on a Federal level to everyone, including Blacks, they had a heck of a time collecting on the deal).

Throughout all this, Mary Cheney has long worked as a high Republican operative to convince gays and lesbians that they had a stake in the GOP agenda (this, of course, is a lie, unless you consider the fact that DEFEATING the GOP may be the one means by which gays and lesbians keep themselves out of the gas chambers, worst case scenario). In fact, Mary Cheney’s entire career has been one big pile of cash and opportunity, based on nothing more than what she sleeps with at night.

John Edwards had every right to use the vice-presidential debates to illuminate the hypocrisy of Dick and his family. I will tell you: when he said what he said, I for one applauded him.

I assure you, when Mary Cheeny looked at Edwards and mouthed the words, “Go fuck yourself”, it wasn’t because, as a warm and sensitive human being, her diddle feelings were hurt. It was because, as a sociopathic GOP operative, her party was being, you’ll pardon the expression, “outed”. It was like the last scene in every “Mission: Impossible” TV episode, where the pigeons look around and realize that they, the Bad Guys, have been OUTSMARTED.

But the only reason the referees ultimately declared this a “gaffe” on Edwards’ part was because the MSM passively stenographed the GOP narrative that this was somehow off-limits for the Democrats. WHY? Is gayness only off-limits when Dick wants it to be… but when they need the queer vote, then it’s NOT?

Edwards’ point. And it ain’t like it’s the first time that the Official Story has been typed exactly as the GOP wanted it typed. But puh leeze, don’t gimme this hackneyed shit about how Edwards was out of line for mentioning it.

kristinejoy, I don’t know if you’re GLBT… I’m not, myself… but it seems to me you need to start learning about a very real effect of the so-called Republican noise machine: INTERNALIZING REPUBLICAN TALKING POINTS.

I get the feeling you’re here as a progressive. If that’s the case, you have a problem. If it also happens that you’re homosexual… you’ve got a BIGGER problem.

Because it means that lesbian black sheep Mary Cheney is leading your ass straight to the lamp shade factory.

i would be very interested in how karl rove views these numbers. I seem to recall some recent polling data that also had something about how you feel about your rep or sen. And people by and large support the incumbent. Is Rove banking on that? Does he have some polling data or corrlation data that indicate the macro poll numbers don’t matter? I really think that he doesn’t care about these numbers cause he has a very different approach. If he can count on 30% minimum as base in each disputed region, he only needs to win 20% more of the total. That’s a nice headstart.
