Prof. Rat, Here’s my two cents. I noticed everyone has different commenting styles. Some are slightly academic. Some are quirky. Norske flamethrower always has a capitol letter motto at the end. It’s good that you stay you. That’s my two cents. Staying you is democracy. I like your comments actually.I wouldn’t change Norske or anyone else either supposing I had the option.

I have 2 question’s relating to elements of style. While I grok that blogs are the new books here’s my problem…I like to absorb quiet understated sharply pointed and deadly snark… yet when it comes to contributing and pitching in with my writing’s to the narrative I find that I tend to ‘broadcast’ loud aggressive bombastic over-the-top and trebucheted rhetoric - Is this wrong with a capital ‘ W ‘? Or is it ‘ what-ever turns you on’?

Margot and egregious, quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I’ve done, but I promised my mom I would do it. I presumed that as soon as a crisis arrived, I’d start again, since I’d tried and failed so often.

Well, my mom died and much to my surprise, I kept my promise to her. I had the same prob as you, Margot, and was the same type of reader - easily 5 books a week. My secret weapon? Sunflower seeds.
The kind in the shells; the shelled kind takes all the fun out of it. Your lips will swell, blood pressure will rise, no doubt, from all the salt, but you will be so happily occupied turning pages and cracking seeds you won’t care. I returned to reading (tho not for a while) until my son was born. now, I rarely can read more than 3 uninterrupted pages - but I don’t care.

Margot 41: You can do it! I quit 12 years ago for the *last* time, after quitting 20 times before that. It sucks now, but it will feel better with time. You absolutely rock! Keep going.

Question for Hayden: Have you ever played poker at the Watergate Hotel?
Even if he wasn’t physically there, he was probably there in spirit. BushCo having it’s clusterhead in the . . . whatever.

I am really bummed I don’t have my Crashing the Gate book yet. I ordered it on Amazon along with Neil Young CD and the Glenn Greenwald title. I could not resist the super-savings S&H, order together get both for $32, etc. Now I have to wait it seems until May 23-30. Such is the life of a cheapskate like me.

egregious,

I’m sure Real ID is a part of it but this might be the meat and potatoes of it all

REX 84

IN April 1984, President Reagan signed Presidential Directorate Number 54 that allowed FEMA to engage in a secret national “readiness exercise” … Lt. Col. (Oliver) North was responsible for drawing up the emergency plan, which US Attorney General William French Smith opposed vehemently.

The plan called for suspension of the Constitution, turning control of the government over to FEMA, appointment of military commanders to run state and local governments and the declaration of martial law. The Presidential Executive Orders to support such a plan were already in place. …

Wow, you guys are amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a thread where the “don’t feed the trolls” directive was actually followed. (re: 35 & 38)

Rayne: Applause.

Blank Kludge: Will you write my eulogy? *g* I’m not half that scarey (he was laughing when he said it) but I do want to keep the compliment, even if it doesn’t fit.

Thanks for the trancript info everhelpful - I bet ET heard him saying some of the things he started with on Dobbs - about Hayden’s original reputuation - but not the follow up.

I have a hard time understanding how Rove doesn’t get indicted, but who knows? What would be interesting is Hadley getting a target letter or indicted while he is making the Hayden sales pitch.

Would that make the pitch a spit ball or a split finger?

egregious — oops, forgot to point out the real damage is in Sect. 102; says which parties have authority, to what extent, and says no judicial review.

Ugh. I want this bill to be on the top of the Hit List when a Dem majority is back in power.
