[…] Seven members of the New York Roots Project met with Hillary Clinton’s Deputy State Director, Christine Falvo, Wednesday afternoon. We had previously posted on our efforts to meet with both Clinton and Chuck Schumer’s staff in New York City. We had received no response from Hillary’s office to our requests to meet and refused to let us up to the her office without a prior appointment - a disappointing experience, but one that was powerfully conveyed to the net via FireDogLake and a video post. That action allowed us to get this meeting. […]

Hi Jane, People are sitting in at Senator Maria Cantwell’s office in Seattle as I type. They have been there through the night and a crowd is gathering outside. Check it out. Mike in Seattle

There is an alternative to Hillary Clinton. Jonathan Tasini is the progressive, anti-war Democrat challenging her in the NY primary. He’d be happy to talk with you.

I use Lotus 1-2-3 (came as part of SmartSuite in an old IBM machine)and it works for me. Current Democratic congressional strategy; not so much.

From my reading of MAKETHEMACCOUNTABLE over the years the DLC corporate ‘ GOP Lite’ mavens are taking the Dem party way over to the lunar right and that these are UNpopular policies that are being pushed. If they were following the people and following the polls then they would NOT be doing this.

Draw a tight bead and pass the ( correct) ammo please. We may only get one clear shot at this.

Re - ‘…They ( Democratic Party political consultants ) embrace only those ideas which are guaranteed in advance to be popular…’

gq -
Guess what? You can’t get a meeting in NY at all - not even a Clinton aide will meet with you. You have to go on a road trip to DC. That’s just f’n stoopid. They sure know how to cash my checks, so my reps damn well better meet with my bratty ass.
And if it’s arrogant to expect someone, anyone to meet with me, I’m one arrogant biiiitch.

What is it with the AIPAC references? AIPAC only succeeds in influencing those things the US sees as in its interest. Jonathon Pollard would not be sitting in jail for the rest of his life if AIPAC was all powerful. Geez, you are getting my anti-semite feelers up.

Isn’t it pretty damn arrogant to expect people to drop everything they are doing to meet with you? The population of NY is roughly 20 million. There’s now way Senators or any statewide official can meet all people who want to talk to them–they have work to do.

I can understand the frustration, but let’s be a little real here. Why are you entitled over EVERYONE else to get face time? I got my contacts to elected officials office by volunteering on their campaigns and my local county party. Nothing magic about it and not like it’s presented here at all. (FYI…there is a lot of grassroots action in the party at the county level.)

Relationships are built on respect and trust. You may be well meaning and polite and informative, but there are so many more that are rude. Shouldn’t there at least be some filter?

Does it have to be Hillary? A year ago I was a Hillary supporter, but I’m disgusted with her position on the war. I’m looking for the candidate that says we are getting out of Iraq now.
