Aside from the fact that this statement is speculative, I do not think it is true. In any case this statement feeds into the rightwing meme that Fitz is a partisan out to get the WH.

In his October 26, 2005 press conference went out of his way to stipulate that his investigation does not deal with the rationale or justification for the Iraq war, but is meant to discover who leaked Plame’s identity and why. If the facts show that there was a conspiracy against Plame/Wilson originating in the WH, then that is the way it is.

Seeing Fitzgerald’s actions as a strategy to bring down the WH is the rightwing point of view, so we should desist from going in that direction. I think like a good prosecutor he is just going where the facts take him, and if that damages the WH, that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

The recent filing was in response to the Libby motion and its timing is in response to that. If there is anyone undermining the WH right now it is Libby and his defense team.

OJ – You and I are in agreement on Fitz’s execution of his responsibilities. What that phrase should be, accurately speaking, is: “the righwing meme that Fitz is a PROSECUTOR out to get the CRIMINALS IN THE WH”.

Doj is primarily made up of non partisan types. They are all “Hatch Act” cover employees which means they are not allowed to participate in political activities.

Fitz has worked w/in DOJ almost all of his adult life. Do you think he doesn’t know which are the good guys?

It would be career suicide to get caught betraying him. Anyony who had the stones to agree to join this team has to be a true believer, a lover of law and justice.

I would not worry too much on that score.
