Today it’s 60/40—60 percent Republican and 40 percent Republican.

Evil P…

Read my post again….I am not condoning or endorsing any of his actions and certainly not his criminality……like I said…Delay is and always shall be a slug and a thug….the point that I was attempting to put out there was the doggedly, ballsy singularity of purpose that he always exibited in the pursuit of his agenda. Like it or not thats a trait that few, if any, politicos on the democratic side of the fence consistantly portray.

Regarding Delay…
The one and only thing you have to respect about this otherwise totally despicable slugthug- is the set of brass balls he has continually and openly displayed in pursuit of his objectives.
If only we had players like that on our side.
Think about it….

[Posted by Larry]

Larry, I don’t respect this about him. I agree with you completely that we need Dems with spine (instead of mealy-mouthed Biden and Holy Joe), but the key to Delay’s (and we hope the Republicans’) success and failure is that he is so single-minded, so sure he is right — and so are his supporters — that neither he nor the “Christians” see anything wrong with their methods becuase their objectives are so Holy. He was so successful in getting what he wanted, so remorseless (and still is), but this very lack of remorse (= blindness) was his own undoing. Let’s hope the new “Republican majority” is the same house of cards.

I want Democrats with balls, but I don’t want them to sweep the table so remorselessly. I’d prefer the longer way round.

(Sorry to nitpick, but I just can’t respect this about Delay.)

Arriana has a good time with this one on DeLay claiming to doing spiritual fasting before making his decision (while according to Arriana, looking rather bloated). Of course, he says he is going to spend the rest of his life doing God’s work.

Color me cynical but when politicians parade their (supposed) spirituality, I can’t help but smell at least a whiff of sulphur.

With Bush as with Delay — by strategy these guys keep grabbing until they fail. By that method, eventually they’re going to fail, but the amount of success they’ve had up till then is the way to judge them. By that standard they’ve both been depressingly successful. Maybe the nightmare is on the way to being over, but it’ll still take awhile for us to get back to where we started.

If they indict Rover anytime soon I’m going to have to break out the champagne….no question.

Yeah, we were debating last night whether to break out the champagne. We’ve got a really good bottle waiting for Rove, but that doesn’t mean we can’t open a different one for celebration-worthy events before that! (Found out a little too late on a work night, though. Maybe tonight.)

I’m dubious about the family squeeze being Delay’s primary motivation. I think the RNC realized that the only way they have a chance at getting Rethug corruption off the table for 2006 was to offer up a major-league sacrifice.

So the Rethug talking point is going to be, “But Delay’s gone. We FIXED the corruption problem.” What interests me is whether Rahm Emmanuel and Chuck Schumer are dumb enough to think that Americans are dumb enough to buy that line of fertilizer…and will thus put out the word for Democratic candidates to pull their punches on the issue of Rethug corruption…and whether said candidates will be dumb enough to listen.
