Congratulations to all the winners and nominees of the 2005 Koufax awards, of which we were one.
I remember having lunch with TBogg and Digby last year just as I was really starting to get into the Plame affair heavily (driving almost every reader I had away in the process, all 50 of them). TBogg made some joke about the fact that it was becoming "all Plame all the time" over at FDL and I said "you wait, this thing’s going to be HUGE!" Not that I believed it myself. He smiled indulgently, patted my hand and ordered another ice tea. One Koufax later, here we are.
(Digby recently reminded me that the reason we met in person in the first place was because I’d said I’d read the 568 page SSCI report and wanted to discuss it. Anyone interested in luring Digby into the open, that’s a great place to start.)
The Plame saga is also what brought Christy to the blog (I think this was her first appearance; after acting as a legal advisor for a while, she finally started posting). While I was comfortable writing about the media aspect I knew that one day we’d get to a place where a lawyer, and specifically a prosecutor, would best be able to deal with writing about the story once it reached the courts. I’d heard of Reddhedd over at Kos where she was a frequent commenter and things just happened from there. It’s worked out wonderfully, and speaking for myself I couldn’t be any happier or luckier to work with her as a blogging partner.
Thanks to everyone who voted for us to the people at Wampum for running the contest once again. Both Christy and I really appreciate it.

About Firedoglake
I love this blog. Testing
lost all the great haloscan comment threads! and this format doesn’t retain the name, e-mail, web site info., has to be re-typed each time.
Oh well, Delay is out so we’re happy we think, anyway.
Congrats! Very well-deserved…
hey what kind of comments are these (ie, not haloscan, not yaccs, — ??)?
ok, so jane, christy and parachutec are all going to yearlkos (as am i)…
who else?
Previous Haloscan comments for this thread can be found here.
Congratulations! Most deserved award. Just read that DeLay is going, going, gone–run out of real estate in the House. Now, who will run in his place? (interesting new comment section. At least, I’m no longer typing in red, which is hard for me to see.)
I need to go back and read the Plame installment from today. Just loved the “yours truly” pic.
I remember the early days well, when the digbys and tboggs weren’t the 24/7 Plame channel that I wanted needed had to have. So when I stumbled across FDL, I had a pane open all the time, hitting the refresh button every other minute like a crack rat.
So congrats — no single blog deserves it more.
Jane and Redd, heartfelt congratulations – you are both totally deserving of this recognition. What a team! Thanks for pouring yourselves into FDL, and for nurturing this community. As the Talking Heads said: “This Must Be the Place”
oh, and:
I remember having lunch with TBogg and Digby last year
namedropper.
:-)
Congratulations – well deserved. I was among the early ones caught up in your insightful analysis and continue to relish the sharpness of your vision.
Congratulations!
I really like the new layout, too.
Woo Hoo!
Hey.
Thanks for the inside baseball stuff.
Always welcome in a Caulfieldesque ‘digressions count’ sort of way.
And congratulations!
____
btw: as somebody who was initially a nonPlame-o-phile I got hooked for good about halftime after that ‘blogging as punk’ post.
.
Congratulations. Well-deserved recognition. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations! Much deserved, for your focussed attention to and alert recognition of the importance of the Plame leak case.
Congrats, Jane and Redd!!
you two (and all your guest bloggers, commenters and lurkers) rock. DeLay’s gone. Let’s get movin’on the rest of the criminals.
Congratulations to you both! I don’t remember how I found you – probably a link at Crooks & Liars – but FDL is the first thing I check every morning.
Your attention to detail, your refusal to roll over and play dead, your creative thinking, your insightful analysis, your ability to take complex legal matters and make them understandable, and the dash of well-deserved and -aimed snark, makes this a place where I come to get educated and energized, and feel hopeful.
As to the awards in general, those nominated represent some of the finest examples of writing, investigationa nd analysis one can find anywhere, and which is shockingly absent from mainstream media.
We are truly blessed!
And to think that I got to FDL through Princess Sparkle Pony!!!!
Hahahahahaha And I like this format so far….
and they’re all left handed huh ???
whodathunkit ???
ps: I came for the Plame
Dear Jane:
Your writings about the Plame affair did NOT drive me away from reading this blog. In fact, it was your and ReddHedd’s writings on the Plame affair which first CAUSED me to start reading this blog daily–no, hourly!
There are always great articles here, but the Plame case coverage is the prime reason I first read this blog, and the continuing attention to that case is also a major reason why I continue to read daily.
Congratulations Jane and Christy. Excellent job on all issues in my opinion. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations, FDL!!!
Even though I like Crooks & Liars, I still think Firedoglake should have won for best blog. I’m pleased, however, that at least your Plame coverage won the kudos it deserves. I was also glad to see that Glenn Greenwald and Digby won. And as a person from Louisville, KY, I was very happy to see Bluegrass report get recognized for best state blog.
Keep us the great work!
Congrats. I started reading FDL when looking for real coverage of the Plame stuff back in September. This became the first blog I started reading regularly and it’s still hands down the best political blog. Well done.
Congratulations, Jane & Christy! Very happy for both of you, well-deserved recognition of your blog and the topic that really made it a must-read.
Thanks so much for all the great work and the make me laugh out loud snark. I so enjoy reading this blog and make sure that I get my first fix early in the am. Congratulations to you both!
I am so glad that almost all of my regular sites are on the list! In a way, it validates the hours I spend sitting here getting pissed off.
The only one that I visit regularly that isn’t on the list is All Hat No Cattle. Commentary, cartoons, quotes – this site has it all. No, I haven’t been paid to shill, either! Just a hearty recommendation.
And, I am getting used to the new site…..
Congrats to FDL for the Koufax.
Followed a link from Digby to this blog, and havent stopped reading it since.
I particularly enjoy the prosecutorial expertise. Great intuition Jane–to realize that a fed legal mind would be critical to our understanding of the case. Thanks to Christy for all the writing time and that Red Headed Ire.
[also delighted that Jane, Digby and TBogg can all have lunch, what a narrative that might be?]
Cool! And richly deserved for your outstanding Plame coverage. Congratulations FDL.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Like others here, it was the Plame coverage that kept me coming back. You all were dissecting it as deeply and widely as I wanted to see it in all its glorious, bloody detail. The addition of Christy’s legal expertise was the extra punch that gave FDL’s assessments even more credibility. Not to mention being a great translator of legalese for us lay people.
BTW, have you ladies seen this document? I can’t remember seeing any discussion on it, but may have somehow missed it. I’m only part way through it, but it sures looks interesting. Every official left unnamed in Fitz’s indictment, is named here and will be called as witnesses.
