We’ve made it to the finals of the Koufaxes. In five categories.
Holy cow.
Thank you so much everyone for all of your votes. Just getting to the semi-finals was amazing — getting to the finals…well, I’m at a loss for words. Truly.
So, I’m just going to list the categories in which we are nominated:
Best Writing: ReddHedd (wow, never expected this one)
The polls are open for voting for the finals. There are some amazing nominees in all of the categories. Please, take a little time and browse through everyone and vote for the best in each category.
Of course, we are always happy for your vote, but truly just getting this far in the Koufaxes is already a big win for us. I’m going to have a tough time voting, I have to say — there are some really close categories with all that talent.
Whenever I get pessimistic about the potential for change, all I have to do is peruse some of the amazing bloggers and commenters you’ll see listed in each final category (and honestly, in the semi-finals, too — really impressive stuff). The collective brainpower, wisdom and talent you’ll see on display on each blog is inspiring — and a challenge to do better every day in my own work.
Kudos to every blog and blogger providing a virtual town square for sanity and thoughtfulness in American political discourse. That makes all the coffee, the long hours, the exhaustion and the brain drain worthwhile…every single day. Okay, that and the opportunity to spread the snark.
(Graphics love to Strange Zoo. This pix made me snarf my coffee and laugh out loud. Thought everyone would enjoy the chuckle this morning after the Mr. Pisser Presser Show.)
NOTE: Noron O’Donnell just said that the President and the White House think of Helen Thomas as a "gadfly." Nice support for your peeps in the media there, Noron. Really nice.
UPDATE: I meant to also say that the folks at Wampum have done a huge amount of work on compiling all of this. When you look at the number of categories and the substantial amount of voting and the server upkeep from the increased traffic, it’s nothing short of a miracle. If you have a few spare bucks, a donation to Wampum would probably be much appreciated. They really deserve a big round of applause.
