Why has no one brought up the idea that the term “Welfare Reform” was simply a code name for “Project Counter Wilson.”

I don’t seem to be able to visualize Hadley as having a very big role in the Bush welfare reform discussions. Was this to be his pro bono contribution to making-Iraq-safe-for-christmas effort?

As to your gripe about why the reporters fired: These were not “their” sources (except through possession), as they belonged to the bosses who told them what to write and where to source it. Their papers directed them what to do, and what & how to report. It happens anywhere you work for someone else. See: no one gets fired!! The boss can’t hang the spy - re-read The Art of War.

So, did Rove fabricate the email to Hadley? I mean there are enough ex-CIA or future-cons in that office that faking an email shouldn’t be too hard.

(I forgot, they did have trouble forging the Niger documents — probably because they thought banana republic and used a cirica 1950 Corona typewriter.)

thanks pollyusa for the date… that was the date that the waiver was granted, but it’ll be interesting to see when the waiver was requested by cooper, and denied by rover… if he denied the waiver before he testified to the gj, then wouldn’t that kill his defense, since it’ll show that he knew what cooper asking for? how can you deny a waiver for something you claim you didn’t know about?

what about the specific waiver of confidentiality given by rove to cooper? where does that fit into the timeline? if cooper asked rover for it, and was denied it (til the end), wouldn’t that blow rover’s cover story, since it’ll shows that rove knew the content of their conversation, and not in some come to jesus moment?

There is no new strategy - he is the same smiling, disconnected, lying bubbleboy that he has always been.

That he decided to take his bubbleboy act to TV isn’t new in the sense that he doesn’t say or do anything different. I saw previews of the Brian Williams interview and it was painful to watch the man.

There is something known as “getting out in front of a story,” something the NeoNuts (certainly Rover) liked to do, but they are so far behind now they can’t get in front of anything.
