Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping this in the light of day. Obviously, the fact that Brewster-Jennings had to be completely shut down indicates that there was serious damage. How many CIA employees used it as their front? How many operations did they run? I don’t expect we’ll ever know for sure, but hopefully Pat Fitzgerald does.

Some questions for NBC about its governance policies, as a beneficiary of the First Amendment:

1 Does the head of NBC know that one of his star reporters has access to a CIA damage assessment report regarding the outing of a covert CIA agent?

2 Has the NBC any policy regarding the need for reporters to advise their seniors with respect to serious matters which might affect national security, which such reporters are working on?

3 If not, does this mean the NBC has a “run-amok”, hands-off approach to what its reporters are doing, despite the recent debacles at the NYT and WaPo?

4 Has any executive in charge of standards in the NBC personally reviewed the internal CIA report - or the sources who provided the contents of such report to her - and have they satisfied themselves that Ms Mitchell is not publicly deceiving viewers through her statements?

In addition to their duplicity–Woodward had the non-existent report in his pocket–what kind of standard would that be? Oh, it is fine because nothing horrible happened in this instance. If someone attempts murder but fails, do we let them off because society got lucky?

When the coming recession/depression hits, Andrea Mitchell Greenspan’s husband reputation is going to receive a serious re-evaluation. While I often read mass market finance history books, I wouldn’t bother with Pinocchio Woodward’s haliograpghy on the Fed.

Thank you, Andrea and Bob too, for sharing with us, that no damage was done. Not only was no one harmed but the prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald was laughably wrong when he said:

…we are at a stage in our country where we need to recruit people, we need to guarantee that they will have anonymity and that you cannot recruit people to work in these difficult jobs, nor can you be sure that by disclosing their identity that you are not putting them in jeopardy.

We all know that’s just silly.

However, it is a travesty to reveal the name of a WH source. Book sales and lucrative TV contracts would be endangered. Big Media Stars would be embarassed.

The Special Counsel’s investigation is a disgrace. But we can an out a CIA agent any time we want. Because we appear on MSNBC and Larry King, and because we’re God like.
